TROSCLAIR, DONNELL A. ‘DONALD'

Donnell A. "Donald" Trosclair, a retired commercial fisherman, died Thursday at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was 88. Mr. Trosclair was born in Biloxi, Miss., and lived in St. Bernard Parish since 1945. He spent time as a merchant mariner and petty officer aboard sea-going vessels. Survivors include a son, Henry Trosclair; five daughters, Rita Trosclair, Eleanor LeFebvre, Katherine Mae Stribling, Ruth O'Quin and Irene Sarran; a sister, Ella Mae Papusha; 17 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
KERTZ, CHARLES W. ‘C.K.' JR.

Charles W. Kertz Jr., an original Saints fan
Charles W. "C.K." Kertz Jr., a retired Orleans Parish deputy civil sheriff and founder of Charlie's Saints Marching Club, died Sunday at Doctors Hospital. He was 86.
Mr. Kertz was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 25 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Diamond Club, and he was involved with volunteer work at Children's Hospital and the Methodist Home for Children.
Mr. Kertz opened a bar and restaurant in the Carrollton area in 1966. When the Saints were awarded an NFL franchise, he renamed it Charlie's Saint House. In the following year as the Saints played their first games, Mr. Kertz decided that "if they ever win a game, we're going to parade." The Saints' first win and his first parade was Nov. 5, 1967. Mr. Kertz staged many events over the years and attended Saints games throughout the country, bringing an unbridled taste of New Orleans with him.
Survivors include his wife, Lelia K. Kertz; a son, Charles W. "Bro" Kertz III; a daughter, Joan Kertz Serpas; and a sister, Rosie K. Danna. A funeral was held Wednesday at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home. Burial was in the Garden of Memories.
ALLEMAND, LUCILLE CORTEZ

Lucille Cortez Allemand, a homemaker, died Tuesday at West Jefferson Medical Center. She was 78. Ms. Allemand was born in Vacherie and lived in Marrero. Survivors include two sons, Richard and Maeve "Paul" Allemand; two daughters, Barbara Holdforth and Catherine Gauthreaux; four brothers, Lucien , Felecien , Louis and Lewie Cortez; four sisters, Lucia Rodrigue, Lucette Madere , Louisia Boudreaux and Louisiana Scioneaux ; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 3 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale.

Lorraine Nalty Gambel, owner and operator of Creative Specialties Inc., died Saturday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 90. Mrs. Gambel was born in Brookhaven, Miss., and lived in Metairie for the past 60 years. She was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a founding member of the Debutante Club and served as Queen of Proteus and Osirus. She headed the first major fund-raising event for Children's Hospital. She was a member of the Louisiana Historical Society and the Southern Yacht Club. She organized the Academy of the Sacred Heart's Centennial Exhibit at the Louisiana State Museum. She graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart and served on the Alumnae Board for more than 40 years. She was an active member of the Children of Mary. She received the Alumna of the Year award and the Cor Unum award. Survivors include four sons, Charles L. Gambel Jr., William C., Raymond H., and Gregory F. Gambel; a daughter, Ellen Gambel Simon; two brothers, Donald J. and Paul A. Nalty; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m.

Todd Philip Steckler, a lawyer, died Tuesday of undetermined causes in Pensacola, Fla. He was 40. Mr. Steckler was born in New Orleans and lived in Pensacola. He was a graduate of Tulane University Law School. Survivors include a brother, Steven A. Steckler, and two sisters, Stacey Steckler LeBlanc and Tanya Steckler Kendal. Tina Gibson Brady, a waitress at Tastee Donuts, died Monday of small cell carcinoma at her home. She was 31. Mrs. Brady was born in New Orleans and lived in Terrytown for the past five years. Survivors include her husband, Corey M. Brady; two stepsons, Joshua and Justin Brady; her father, Larry Gibson Sr.; her mother, Marsha Apostalo; her stepfather, Paul Apostalo; her stepmother, Carmine Gibson; a brother, Larry Gibson Jr.; a sister, Ida Garcia; a stepbrother, Michael Apostalo; four stepsisters, Tammy and Cherice Apostalo and Amy and Christy Steele; and her grandmother, Verna Grace Payne. A funeral was held Thursday at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans.

Daniel Frances Bobeck, a mechanical engineer for Design Associates, died Thursday of a heart attack at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was 64. Mr. Bobeck was born in Pennsylvania and lived in Slidell. He was an employee of Textron for 13 years. He was a retired commander in the Coast Guard. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Sharon J. Bobeck; two sons, Stephen G. and Daniel F. Bobeck Jr.; five daughters, Marybeth E. Muir, Alice B. Derise, Carryl B. Osborn, Kathleen A. Bobeck and Marcella B. Joseph A. Prevost Jr., an employee with Andrews Federal Credit Union and a retired employee of Traveler's Insurance, died Sunday of a heart attack at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Md. He was 62. Mr. Prevost was born in New Orleans and lived in Lanham, Md., for many years. He graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School. Survivors include his wife, Connie Davis-Prevost; two sons, Barry and Joseph Prevost; a brother, Barry James Prevost; and a sister, Marie E. Prevost. Alma "Dee" Brossett LaCour, a retired employee of Nabisco in Chicago, died Friday of pneumonia at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. She was 69. Mrs. LaCour was born in Cloutierville, lived in New Orleans for many years and in Chicago for more than 35 years, and returned to New Orleans in 1988 when she retired from Nabisco. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans. Survivors include two sisters, Thelma B. Clementine and Theresa B. Gonzales. A Mass will be said Wednesday at noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Herben Chase, a security guard for Bollinger Shipyards and A.J. Warehouse, died Tuesday of cardiac arrest at Memorial Medical Center. He was 59. Mr. Chase was born in New Orleans and lived in Gretna. He graduated from Xavier Preparatory School and Booker T. Washington High School. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gretna. Survivors include his mother, Thelma H. Franklin; and his stepfather, Matthew Franklin. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 434 Seventh St., Gretna. Burial will be in McDonoghville Cemetery.
