Shellia Marie Wade, a former cook at B.J. Restaurant in Westwego, died May 22 of cardiac arrest at her home. She was 44. Ms. Wade was born in New Orleans and lived in Marrero for the past 16 years. She was previously employed as a cook for Schnell's Restaurant, Delgrandile's Restaurant and EZ Serve. Ms. Wade was a member of St. Rock Baptist Church in Harvey and Adopt A Child and Feed the Hungry organizations. Survivors include her companion, Stanley Young Sr.; five sons, Nathaniel, Ebby, Ron, Kederick and Carl Wade; two daughters, Cynthia Wade and Rhonda Thomas; two stepsons, Dwayne and Stanley Young Jr.; a stepdaughter, Keisha Young; two brothers, Victor and Goldstien Wade; two sisters, Gloria Fields and Lillie Wade; and seven grandchildren. A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park. Davis Mortuary Service handled arrangements.

Albert Stewart, a retired cab driver, died Sunday of congestive heart failure at New Orleans Home and Rehabilitation Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Stewart was born in Union and lived in New Orleans for 70 years. He was a sergeant in the Army. Survivors include cousins. A funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Magee's Funeral Home, 2141 Washington Ave. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Dave Simon, a truck driver for Johnson Motor Lines, died May 25 at his home. He was 76. Mr. Simon was born in Alberta, Ala., and lived in New Orleans for the past 55 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 270 and Hartzell United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Dave Simon Jr.; five daughters, Betty S. Vincent, Essie S. Hennie, Elaine S. Conley, Shelia S. Hamilton and Dorothy Simon; a brother, Herbert Simon of Gadsden, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hartzell United Methodist Church, 2014 Caffin Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Mausoleum. Edward Scott, a retired owner of Morrison Gas Station, died Tuesday at Kindred Hospital. He was 88. Mr. Scott was born in Jackson and lived in New Orleans for the past 70 years. He attended Southern University in Scotlandville. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where he was a member of the Deacon Board, Trustee Board, Sunday School and Benevolent Society. He also was a member of the Trojan Club and served as treasurer and past grand master of Mason Axiom Lodge No. 216. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Raphael Scott; two sons, Nathaniel and Edward James Scott; a daughter, Shirley Evelyn; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, 2319 Third St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. D.W. Louis "Peanut" Penns, a salesman with Blockbuster Video, died Saturday at Charity Hospital as a result of drowning. He was 21. Mr. Penns was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Roubin Magnet High School. He was a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of True Vine Baptist Church. Survivors include his companion, LaToya Robinson; his father, the Rev. Louis Augustine; his mother, Patricia A. Foreman; three brothers, August Penns, Aaron Augustine and Mark Forman; a sister, Kirsten Davis; and his grandparents, Dorothy and Rogers Forman Jr. and Catherine Augustine. Mildred Marshall Moody, a retired dietitian technician, died Saturday of heart failure at Physicians Hospital of New Orleans. She was 77. Mrs. Moody was born in Luling and lived in Gretna. She graduated from L.B. Landry High School. Mrs. Moody was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where she was the former president of the Senior Choir and treasurer of the Pastor's Aid Club. She also was a member of Pride of Gretna Chapter No. 60 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include three sons, Lawrence Moody Jr., Morris Moody and Raynell Michael Moody Sr.; a daughter, JoAnn Moody; her mother, Victoria S. Marshall; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Noah F. "Chief" "No Way" Mathieu, a retired paint foreman at Avondale shipyard, died Tuesday of complications from diabetes at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in LaPlace. He was 84. Mr. Mathieu was a lifelong resident of Lucy. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include three sons, Larry Mathieu Sr. of New Orleans, Landry D. Mathieu of Kenner and Keith Mathieu; a daughter, Karen Mathieu; a brother, Roy Mathieu Sr. of Bedford, Mass.; two sisters, Marie McCray of New Orleans and Lorraine Alexis of Edgard; and six grandchildren. Brian Donald Knipe, an insurance adjuster with Insurance Claims Services Co., died Wednesday of complications from a heart attack at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was 40. Mr. Knipe was born in Metairie and lived in Covington for the past 27 years. He was a member of the Cajun Sprinters Racing Team. Survivors include his wife, Robbin Daix Knipe; a son, Sean Knipe; a daughter, Kristen Knipe; his father, Arthur Knipe III; his mother, Mary Lou Luke Knipe; and three brothers, Archie, David and Lindsay Knipe. Luke Henri Gross Sr., a retired cab driver, died Tuesday at his home. He was 91. Mr. Gross was born in Thibodaux and lived in New Orleans for many years and in Metairie for the past 15 years. He was a cab driver for Toye Brothers and worked for Bell Cab Co. for 60 years before retiring in 1993. He was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Luke Henri Gross Jr.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A Mass was said Thursday at Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, 1717 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1.
