Ronald Dean Clawson, owner of Courier Connection Inc., died May 18 of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Chalmette. He was 56. Mr. Clawson was born in Kansas City, Mo., and lived in Covington for the past several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington. He was a Marine Corps veteran and was active in many charitable organizations. Survivors include his wife, Delia Anderson Clawson; a son, Shawn R. Clawson of Grain Valley, Mo.; a stepson, Christopher L. Ahner; a stepdaughter, Heather A. Ahner; his mother, Gladys E. Clawson of Greenwood, Mo.; a sister, Charlotte Ray of Rising Star, Texas, and three step-grandchildren. Services and burial were held May 23 in Raymore, Mo. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Unity Temple, 3722 St. Charles Ave.

Wallace "Sonny" Cannon Jr., a laborer, died May 24 of lung cancer at Canon Health Care in New Orleans. He was 64. Mr. Cannon was born in Killona and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include two sisters, Betty August of New Orleans and Mary Lewis of Edgard. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Canaan Baptist Church in Killona. Theadoris "Mama T" Macon Mosley Butler, a retired dietary technician at McDonogh No. 32 Elementary School, died Saturday of heart failure at Lakeland Hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Butler was a lifelong resident of Algiers. She was a member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church and its choir, Star of Hope Chapter No. 17 Order of the Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary No. 2403, and All Saints Golden Age Club. Survivors include her husband, Joseph A. Butler Sr.; three sons, John L. Mosley Sr., Edward J. Robinson and Joseph A. Butler Jr.; a sister, Victoria Calvin; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 8 p.m. at Beautiful Zion Baptist Church, 1017 Elmira Ave., Algiers. Peter Joseph Abate, a retired electric delivery company truck driver and shoe repairman, died Tuesday of a heart attack at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 80. Mr. Abate was born in New Orleans and lived in Harahan for the past 44 years. He served as a Marine during World War II. He was a member of the Harahan branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as branch president. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Susan Harlan; two sons, Harlan C. and Jason S. Abate; five daughters, Linda A. Atkinson, Donna S. Abate, Beckey J. Van Buskins, Shannon J. Impey and Holly L. Zurek; two brothers, Charles and John Abate; a sister, Nora Livingston; and 11 grandchildren. She graduated from Clarksdale High School and Bay City Junior College. She was a member of the Bay City YMCA board of directors, the Order of the Eastern Star and Aurora United Methodist Church and a former member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, George J. Fegert; two sons, Ford J. Fegert of Vero Beach, Fla., and Forrest J. Fegert of Shreveport; two daughters, Carol J. and Cheryl Lee Fegert; four brothers, Roy, John, Franklin and Fred Abraham; a sister, Glenda Abraham Pettit; and six grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Aurora United Methodist Church, 3300 Eton St., Algiers. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey, and Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church.
