Ernest Flowers Jr., a retired self-employed roofer, died Monday of cancer at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 60. Mr. Flowers was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was an Army veteran and a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Gisela Flowers; a brother, Ellis Brooks of Los Angeles; and four sisters, Dolores Bourgeois of Reserve, Helen Cole, Thelma Brooks and Annie Mae Willis. A Mass will be said Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1235 Louisiana Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Vincent cemetery. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BUWE, LYNDAL 'LENNY'
November 28, 2002

Lyndal "Lenny" Buwe, an antiques dealer, died Nov. 9 of undetermined causes at his home. He was 45. Mr. Buwe was born in New Orleans; lived in Tylertown, Miss., for many years; and recently moved to Slidell. Survivors include a sister, Alison B. Morphy. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lakeview Presbyterian Church, 5914 Canal Blvd. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home handled arrangements.

ZITO, LUCY
November 27, 2002

Lucy Zito, a homemaker, died Monday at Jefferson Health Care Center. She was 94. Ms. Zito was born in Paulina and lived in Metairie for 40 years. Survivors include a brother, Jacob Zito, and two sisters, Josie Gianelloni and Rose Cone. A funeral will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park.

GERMAIN, LUCILLE CAPAGNANO ST.
November 27, 2002

Lucille Capagnano St. Germain, a homemaker, died Sunday at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington. She was 80. Mrs. St. Germain was born in New Orleans, lived in Metairie for 42 years and lived in Covington for the past year. Survivors include her husband, Clifton J. St. Germain Sr.; a son, Clifton St. Germain Jr.; a daughter, Lucille St. Germain McGrail; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Mausoleum.

RAY, DONALD HENRY JR.
November 27, 2002

Donald Henry Ray Jr., a retired engineer for CSX Railroad, died Sunday of congestive heart failure at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Miss. He was 55. Mr. Ray was born in New Orleans and lived in Bay St. Louis, Miss., for the past 35 years. Survivors include a son, Donnie Ray III; two daughters, Denee Breckley and Dori Ray; his mother, Agnes Ray; a brother, Daniel Ray; a sister, Linda Ray; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, 110 Necaise Ave., Bay St. Louis. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Lakeshore cemetery in Lakeshore, Miss.

D'ANTONIO, EDELWEISS MORETTINI
November 26, 2002

Edelweiss Morettini D'Antonio, a homemaker, died Monday at her home. She was 78. Ms. D'Antonio was born in Foligno, Italy, and lived in New Orleans for more than 55 years. She was a parishioner of St. Raphael Catholic Church. She studied opera in Italy. Survivors include three sons, Anthony C., Claude M. and Michael J. D'Antonio; two daughters, Concetta D. Smith and Patricia D. Marchand; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 2 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park.

LINGERFELT, ROBERT L. SR.
November 27, 2002

Robert L. Lingerfelt Sr., a retired employee of Rheem Manufacturing Co., died Monday at War Veterans Home in Jackson. He was 79. Mr. Lingerfelt was born in Morganton, N.C., and lived in Columbia, Miss., for the past 25 years. He had worked at Marion County Hospital in Columbia. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Columbia. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Lingerfelt Jr.; a daughter, Linda Laine of Covington; two brothers, Charles and Ben Lingerfelt; four sisters, Mae Little, Ruby Coniglio, Louise Hamblin and Sue Barber; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home.

BOURGEOIS, WALLACE ANTHONY 'POP' SR.
November 26, 2002

Wallace Anthony "Pop" Bourgeois Sr., a retired truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service, died Thursday of congestive heart failure at Memorial Medical Center. He was 91. Mr. Bourgeois was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a parishioner of St. Monica Catholic Church, where he also was a member of the Usher Society and the Parish Council and past president of the Catholic Youth Organization. He was a member and former president of the American Postal Workers Union, first president of the Broadmoor Social and Pleasure Club and the Gert Town Area Improvement Council and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Holy Name Society, the Times-Picayune Doll and Toy Fund, the New Orleans Recreation Department and the New Orleans chapter of the NAACP. He also was a member of E.O. Mass Grand Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Peter Claver and area deputy, Faithful Navigator, Grand Knight and national director of the Junior Knights of Peter Claver, St. Monica Council No. 59. He was a Navy veteran. He also was a Biddy basketball coach at Rosenwald Park and basketball coach for St. Monica Catholic School. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth S. Bourgeois; six sons, Leslie Bourgeois Sr. of Oklahoma, Wallace Bourgeois Jr. of Las Vegas, Paul Bourgeois of Los Angeles and Ernest, Richard and Arnold Bourgeois; six daughters, Dell B. Amos, Felicia B. Raine, Bernadine B. and Catherine B. Charles and Dolores and Betty Bourgeois; 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, 2327 S. Galvez St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Majestic Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

GUICE, PAMELA DUCOTE
November 27, 2002

Pamela Ducote Guice, a homemaker, died Friday at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 77. Ms. Guice was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from Sophie B. Wright High School. She was a founding member of the Women's Auxiliary of the local Salvation Army. Survivors include her husband, Frederick M. Guice; three sons, Miller, Bryan and David Guice; and two daughters, Sally and Cary Guice. Services were held Monday at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.

WASHINGTON, EVELYN
November 25, 2002

Evelyn Washington, a food preparation worker, died Thursday of cancer at her home. She was 71. Ms. Washington was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She attended McDonogh 35 High School. Survivors include three sons, Lannie Miller Jr. and Leonard and David Miller; a daughter, Lanette Trahan of Kingman, Ariz.; a brother, James Washington of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Florence Reuben; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Tilly's Funeral Home, 2831 St. Claude Ave. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

BAKER, DORA 'CUDDY'
November 27, 2002

Dora "Cuddy" Baker, a retired custodian at Charity Hospital, died Saturday at Lakeland Medical Center. She was 98. Mrs. Baker was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons, Lester Joseph McKee Jr. of Atlanta and Henry Baker of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha C. Haley Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

SCHOEMANN, RUDOLPH R.
November 25, 2002

Rudolph R. Schoemann, a retired lawyer, died Saturday of renal failure at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 72. Mr. Schoemann was born in Chicago and lived in New Orleans for the past 60 years. He was a graduate of Loyola and Tulane universities. He worked for Schoemann and Associates. He was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and a lifemaster of the Louisiana Bridge Club. He was a first lieutenant in the Army, serving in the JAG Force. Survivors include his wife, Marie Gandolfo Schoemann; two sons, Rodney Schoemann and Rudolph Schoemann III; a daughter, Peggy Ann S. Salathe; a stepson, David E. Webb; two stepdaughters, Alison W. Kern and Rebecca W. Pugliese; a sister, Patricia S. Aupied; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Metairie cemetery.

Frank Henry Oates, a retired roofer, died Nov. 17 of heart failure at Touro Infirmary. He was 55. Mr. Oates was born in Jackson, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 41 years. Survivors include his wife, Terry Davis Oates; four sons, Fralando, Anthony and Antione Oates and Ellsworth Marshall; four daughters, Gizelle Smith and Treva, Brandy and Leslie Oates; his mother, Candacy Oates; three brothers, William, Herman Chester and Clemon Oates; a stepbrother, Willie Vance Sr.; a sister, Kathleen Johnson; and eight grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Gaskin-Southall-Gordon and Gordon Mortuary, 1225 N. Rampart St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park.

George E. Sholar Jr., a retired staff assistant with Amoco Production Co., died Sunday of cancer at the home of his former wife. He was 56. Mr. Sholar was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 34 years. He was a Navy veteran. He was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Tiffany S. Lucas and Tanya L. Sholar; two sisters, Joycelyn S. Torres and Janice S. Riviere; and a grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Emelda H. Williams, a homemaker, died Monday of congestive heart failure at St. Claude Medical Center. She was 70. Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School. She was a member of Greater Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, a former member of SPUR and president of Original 13 of Villa St. Maurice. Survivors include two sons, Freddie Williams Jr. and Brian W. Williams; two daughters, Lisa W. Keels and Ava Maria Gore; two sisters, Brenda H. Allen and Denise C. Holman; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Greater Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 5130 Chartres St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Royal "Uncle Coon" Mitchell, a farmer, died Nov. 20 of a gunshot wound at his home. He was 45. Mr. Mitchell was born in Paulina and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include his daughter, Sada Martin of New Orleans; two sisters, Idola Robertson and Jeanette Gurein; and six brothers, Evers, Richard, Mark and Raymond Mitchell, and Joseph and Anthony Boudreaux. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Community Antioch Baptist Church in Lutcher. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Brazier-Watson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Emily Tillman Lewis, a retired supervisor for child protective services for the state of Louisiana, died Sunday at Canon Care Center. She was 85. Mrs. Lewis was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from McDonogh 35 High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Dillard University, attended Louisiana State University and earned a master's degree in social work from Washington University. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, TNT Social Club, Summer Bridge Group and the Social Justice Club. A Mass will be said Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 4700 Pineda St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Boissiere-Labat Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
