Alice Claudine Dixon "Dean"
(December 19, 1927 - October 14, 2012)

Alice Claudine Dixon, "Dean", 84, a resident of Tunica, LA, died on Sunday, October 14, 2012. She was a native of Doyline. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the United Methodist Church of Tunica from 9am until services at 11am, conducted by Rev. Mike Clark. Burial will be in Rogillio Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters: Vivan Worsham and her husband Robert of St. Francisville; Connie Doggett of Tunica; and Linda Floyd of Tunica; one son: Kenneth Dixon of Tunica; grandchildren: Lewis Brumfield and wife Renee; Melissa Roark and husband Lance; Stacy Maples; Angela Gross and husband Wayne; Amy Horn and husband Kirt; Robert Floyd III and wife Kayla; Misti Floyd; great-grandchildren Kayla Brumfield; Jacob and Dylan Roark; Jessie Rogers and husband Justin; Brittany and Josh Gayle; Samantha Maples; Taylor Gross and Cameron Gillis; Alyssa and Callie Gross; Justin Young; and Robert Charles Floyd "Buddy". Great great grandchildren, Troy Talley and Kadience Gillis. Special family friends, Phillip Maples, Liz Cupit, Cynthia Nicholas and Joe D. Gresham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ovida and Bill Richmond; sisters, Nettie Morris; Thelma Wood; Evelyn Dunaway; brother, Marion Yarbrough; and son-in-law Robert "Cat" Floyd. Pallbearers will be Lewis Brumfield, Josh Gayle, Robert Floyd, Lance Roark, Johnny Dixon, and Wayne Gross. Special thanks to Hospice In His Care for their care and dedication.

Christine Eloise Turner
(December 25, 1937 - October 14, 2012)

Christine went to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 14, 2012. She was born on December 25, 1937, and was a resident of Lakewood Quarters in Baton Rouge, LA. After a lifetime of suffering with serious medical problems, she is now at peace and rest with her Lord. In spite of these problems, she maintained a positive attitude that inspired many that knew her. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clifton Daniel and Addie Mae Raborn Turner, a sister, Beverly Marie Turner Gayle, and sister in law, Ann Latham Turner. She is survived by her brothers, E. Ray Turner, Glenn Daniel Turner, and Harold Eugene Turner. She is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Turner Cook, Kathryn Turner Ehrhardt and Genelle Turner Robishaw and numerous nephews and nieces. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. Oren Conner. Burial will be at Redwood Cemetery, Slaughter.

Mary Frances Fortenberry Lowe
(December 26, 1947 - October 13, 2012)

A resident of Jackson, she died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at The Carpenter House. She was 64 years old. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Clinton on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 from 5pm until 9pm and continues on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 from 10am until service at 11am. She is survived by her children, Tommy Lowe, Jr. and wife, Peanut Wesley and Suzie Lowe and husband, David Russell; 8 grandchildren, Trey Searcy, Jared Searcy, Brittany Maschino, Nick Lowe, Gene Mclendon, Hunter Mclendon, Josh Lowe and Jacob Lowe; 2 great-grandchildren, Avi Maschino and Kymberleigh Lowe; son-in-law, John Searcy, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Lowe, Sr.; a daughter, Theresa "Terri" Searcy; and 2 sisters. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Russell, Joey Zachary, Alton Henry, James Wisner and Maurice Brown. Special thanks to Faye Brown and the Jackson Fire Department.

Harry Leroy Barksdale
(September 1, 1933 - October 12, 2012)
U.S. Veteran

A resident of Zachary, he died Friday, October 12, 2012 at his home. He was 79 years old and was retired from the US Navy. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc in Zachary on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. conducted by Pastor Homer Parish. Burial will be in Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy J. Barksdale. A daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Homer Parish, Chesapeake, VA. 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Ray J. and Angie Steele, Albany, LA; Vincent Barksdale, Oxnand, CA and Eugene and Shirley Barksdale, Lakewood, CA. 2 sisters, Fairy Day, Denham Springs and Velenia Freeman, Baton Rouge. A grandson, Christian E. Callaway, Chesapeake, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Odie Barkdull and an infant brother. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Steele, Bobby Travis and Steve Connor.

Jimmie Joseph Firmin Jr.
(November 8, 1952 - October 10, 2012)

Jimmie Joseph Firmin Jr. died Tuesday, October 10, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center. He was 59 years old, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Ethel. He was retired from the Iron Workers Local 623, where he had worked for 20 years. Visitation will be on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary from 10:00am until service at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Eastern Star Cemetery, Wilson. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin Clanton & wife Alanna of Baker, mother, Dorothy Firmin of Slaughter; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Bobbie Bourgeois & husband Philip, Jo Ann Ilgenfritz, and Dorothy Firmin & husband Bill Doucet, all of Slaughter; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy Firmin Jr. & wife Debbie of Zachary. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Joseph Firmin Sr., and brother, Ronnie Firmin. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Clanton, Roy Firmin Jr., Bill Doucet, Shane Bourgeois, Philip Bourgeois Jr. and Tom Norman. Honorary pallbearers are Lester Bean Jr. and Philip Bourgeois Sr. He enjoyed model airplanes and motorcycles.

Tommie Lea Dykes Cox Free
(October 20, 1937 - October 8, 2012)

Tommie Lea Dykes Cox Free, "Ma Cox", 80, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died at her home in Jackson, Louisiana on Monday, October 8, 2012. She was considered a mother to the whole town of Jackson, caring for and feeding the children of her community for over 25 years. She was a native of Franklinton, LA. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and then on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at the Jackson First Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until funeral services at 10 a.m., conducted by Brother Joe Nesom and assisted by Gary Matthews and Richard London. Burial will be at Jackson Cemetery. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, William E. Free; one daughter, Bobbie Lynn Cox and husband Jay L. Martin of Covington; three sons: Toney David Cox and wife Audry J. Cox of Converse, LA; Carrol H. Cox of Hueytown, AL; and Keith Lamar Cox and wife Susan R. Cox of Ethel; one sister, Josephine Brumfield of Springfield, LA; 11 grandchildren: Tony Cox, Janel Cox, Holly Watson, Caleb Cox, Lee Cox, Katie Cox Boston, Logan Cox, Keri Cox, Landon Cox, Thomas Cox, and Meredith Cox; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee H. Cox; her parents, Thomas C. Dykes and Ada Husser Dykes; one brother Tony Dykes; one sister, Kay Wheeler; and great-granddaughter Celeste. Pallbearers will be Will Boston, Landon Cox, Gary Free, Lee Cox, Logan Cox, and Tony Cox, Jr. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, St. Alban's Chapter #80, past Worthy Matron for 8 years, and District Deputy for one year. The family would like to thank the caregivers: Dr. Kemp Amacker, Diane Alford, and Zula Woodward. And they'd especially like to thank her husband William E. Free, for his devoted love and caring during her declining years. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's research in Tommie's name or to any charity of their choice .

Gladys Marie Wilson
(October 6, 1931 - October 6, 2012)

Gladys Marie Wilson, 81, of Hartburg passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. She was a native of Olive Branch, Louisiana; born on October 6, 1931 to parents Mary Elizabeth (Gayle) and Ernest Dewitt Brian. She had lived in the Hartburg area since 1985 and prior she had lived in Groves. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Deweyville. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend; who enjoyed spending time with her family and she will be missed dearly. She was preceded is death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Brian; brother, David Elwood Brian. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, JP Wilson of Hartburg; daughters, Paulette Totino and husband, Darrell of Hartburg, Jeanette Bickham and husband, Steven of Hartburg; sister, Allie Mae Edwards and husband, Johnnie of Woodville; brothers, Stanley "Pete" Brian and Robert "Bob' Brian both of Slaughter, LA; sister in law, Kathy Brian of Slaughter; grandchildren, Angie Langley and husband, Ricky of Huntsville, Shane Totino and wife, Wendy, Alex Bickham all of Hartburg; great grandchildren, Lane and Emilee Totino and Holden Langley. She is also survived by her extended family, Susan Ruff and her extra grandchild, Susan Elaine Kennedy. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 5 pm until 9 pm at First Baptist Church of Deweyville, TX. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10 am at the church, with Rev Damon Bickham officiating. Funeral arrangements conducted under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Charlet Funeral Home in Clinton, LA. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10 am at Patterson Cemetery (the family old place cemetery) in Slaughter, LA. Services will be held under the direction of Charlet Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Langley, Shane Totino, Alex Bickham, Scott Estes and Dalton Estes. Honorary pallbearers are the Old Fogey's Sunday School Class.
