William Duncan Smith, a resident of Zachary, LA, formerly of Dublin, Ga., died on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center. He was retired and a former employee of CNI, Princeville Canning Company, and Crown Zellerbach. He was a native of Manor, GA. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, from 11am until funeral services at 1pm, conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial will be at Port Hudson National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Freeman Smith; one daughter, Cecilia Smith Prejean "Ceci" and her husband Ricky Prejean of Zachary; one son, Trevor Jerome Smith and his wife Regina Pelt Smith of Zachary; four sisters, all of Dublin, GA: Delores Elliot; Judy Stewart and her husband Jerry; Valdina Smith; and Margo Gregory and her husband Arnold; and four grandchildren: Maci Prejean, Brock Prejean, Lauren Smith, and Blake Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Capitola Smith and his brother Marion King. Pallbearers will be Trevor Smith, Ricky Prejean, Charles Broussard, Steven Broussard, John Freeman, Jerry Stewart, and Patrick Howard. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a member of the Zachary Church of Christ. Winston Odel Oakes

Winston Odel Oakes, 81, a resident of Slaughter, LA, died at his home on Friday, October 5, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was retired, after working for 33-and-a-half years for the Baton Rouge Fire Department. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., in Zachary, on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 2 p.m. until funeral services at 4 p.m., conducted by Minister Bruce Hatcher. There will be a graveside committal service on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary at 10 a.m. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gwendolyn Hopkins Oakes; two daughters, Sarah Hebert and her husband David Hebert of Slaughter, LA; and Diane Dykes and her husband Eddie Dykes of Gloster, MS; and one grandchild, Mitchell Odel Hebert. He was preceded in death by his son, Winston Odel Oakes Jr. Pallbearers will be Mitchell O. Hebert, Jonathan Knight, H.K. Simmons, Homer Hopkins, Pete Hopkins and Leroy Hopkins. The family would especially like to thank Marcella Jackson of Clarity Hospice for her loving care.
Anna Sue Williamson Cowart

Anna Sue Williamson Cowart, a loving mother, sister and friend, was called home to be with her Lord on September 18, 2012. She was 77 years old and was born on January 15, 1935 in Smithdale, MS. She is survived by her five daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Danny Sloan; Brenda and Charles Sheridon; Nancy and Duane David; Debbie and Gus Abousweid; and Martha Whitaker. She is also survived by her special children: Zachary Cowart, Paulette Covington and Paul Cowart. She has 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and a special person in her life, another son-in-law Tommy Maggio. Also survived by one brother, Elton Williamson and two sisters, Mary Adams and Linda Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Chester Cowart, parents Dexter and Louise Williamson, two grandchildren, Miranda Sheridon and Tiffany Sloan, and five brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Then, on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until funeral services at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Keith McAllister. There will be a 2 p.m. graveside service at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithdale, MS. She was a member of the House of Praise Church. Pallbearers will be Tommy Maggio, Tim Covington, Elton Williamson, Billy McLin, Brent Deville, Aaron Deville and Zachary Cowart.

JANUARY 28, 1937 – SEPTEMBER 19, 2012 At 75, Earl peacefully passed away Wednesday, September 19th at 4:30 a.m. at Lane Hospital in Zachary, La. after a long battle with heart disease. He was a musician for 65 years playing country, blue-grass and gospel music and he was an avid fisherman. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Eula Lee Dedon Saucier, three daughters – Penny Saucier & Shirley Saucier Worsham of St. Francisville and Renee Saucier Gidel of Ethel, two granddaughters – Ashley Marange of Pace, Fl. & Danielle (Danni) Morris of St. Francisville, one grandson – Brandon Smith of St. Francisville, three great grandchildren – Alana & Jaxson Smith of St. Francisville and Elizabeth Ann Marange of Pace, Fla., two loving sisters – Frances Medeiros of Baton Rouge and Dorothy Burnes of Bandera, Tx. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Shannon Worsham, Brandon Smith, Darren Gidel, Bill Welch, Lucian Welch and Jim Marange. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Michael DeJohn and his staff, Dr. Terry Zellmer and staff and the Cardiovascular Center and Lane Hospital in Zachary for keeping "Paw Paw" with us for many treasured years. Ruth Goff Adams

"You never said, 'I'm leaving,' you never said goodbye, you were gone before I knew it, and only My Jesus knew why. A million times I needed you, a million times I cried, if love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I love you dearly, in death I Love You still, in my heart you hold a place, that no one could ever fill. It broke my heart to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for part of me went with you, the day My Jesus took you home." A resident of Zachary, she died Sept. 19, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center. She was 81 years old and was retired from the Louisiana Department of Labor. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 from 6pm until 8pm and continues on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 from 9am until service at 10am conducted by Pastor Daniel Flanagan and assisted by Rev. Everett Hurley. Burial will be in Plains Presbyterian Memorial Gardens, Zachary. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norris Lea Adams. 2 children, Jason Lea Adams and wife, Myrna and Kaylan Ruth Adams Ewing and husband James "Dana". A brother, Paul June Goff and wife, Gladys. 7 grandchildren, Shannon Skena and husband, Eddie; Stacey Reiser and husband, Jeremy; Jennifer Madsen and husband, Josh; John Martin Jones IV and wife, Amy; Stephanie Adams; James Garett Jones and Shane Ewing. 9 great grandchildren, Caitlynn Jones, Jaylee Madsen, Jeremiah Madsen, John Martin Jones V, Evelyn Skena, Ally Jones, Brody Reiser, Madeline Skena and Baby Boy Reiser due in December. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Fanny Goff and 2 sisters and 6 brothers. She loved her family. She was an avid gardner.
Mary Emma McCorquodale Munson

Mary Emma McCorquodale Munson, formerly of 121 First Street, Sunnyside, FL, died Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Foothills Presbyterian Retirement Community in Easley, SC. Born February 3, 1925, in Chipley, FL, she was the widow of Dr. Edward O. Munson, Jr., and a daughter of the late Malcolm E. and Mary Emma McCorquodale. A member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church of Panama City, FL, and a 1945 graduate in accounting of Florida State College for Women (later Florida State University), Mrs. Munson was a homemaker and managed business affairs for her husband's dental practice in Clinton, LA, where they resided following their marriage on January 30, 1948. Mrs. Munson is survived by a son, Dr. Malcolm E. Munson and wife, Priscilla, of Clemson, SC, and two daughters, Candace M. Johnson and husband, Kelly, of Alexandria, VA, and Pamela Munson of Panama City Beach, FL. Also surviving are two grandsons, Dylan and Zachary Johnson of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Ruth M. Norman of Austin, TX; a sister-in-law, Kathryn B. Munson of Clinton, LA, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by an infant son, William Richard Munson; a sister, Mrs. Grace M. Penn; a brother, Lawson E. McCorquodale; a brother-in-law, Richard K. Munson; and sisters-in-law, Catherine McCorquodale and Bettie Del Munson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Charlet Funeral Home, 10761 Bank Street, Clinton, LA. The funeral service for Mrs. Munson will be held in Clinton, LA, on Friday, September 28, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clinton Presbyterian Church, Bank St., Clinton, LA. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery, Clinton, LA. Passman, Joanna Misita, born September 3, 1944 and died on September 23, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center. She was a resident of Baker, former resident of Baton Rouge and native of New Orleans. She was a deputy clerk at East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk Of Court for 26 years. Visiting will be at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Baker on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 8:00 am until mass at 9:00 am. Burial will be at Pt. Hudson National Cemetery. She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Jo Chambers and husband Dr. John Chambers of Columbus IN, and Paula Guidry and husband Clayton Guidry of Prairieville, LA and two sons, Roy A. Passman and wife Joy Passman of Arlington, TN and Dennis Michael Passman and wife Tami Parrino-Passman of Baton Rouge, LA, Half sister, Anna Mae Myers, grandchildren, Samantha Renee Passman, Nicholas Aaron Passman, Victoria Grace Passman, Emily Lenora Passman, Allison Berkley Chambers, Emerson Olivia-Anne Chambers, Alyssa Blair Guidry and Aiden John Guidry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney A. Passman and parents, Roy J. and Josephine G. Misita. She was a graduate of Amite High School in 1963 and attended Southeastern University. She loved her grandchildren, her family, her extended family at work and her two yorkies, Katie and Holly. She is loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
