Lucille Perkins Leake
(July 31, 1913 - September 10, 2012)
Lucille Perkins Leake, a resident of St. Francisville passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the age of 99. "Nanny" celebrated life every day and was such an inspiration to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robinson Mumford Leake Sr., her son, Robert Perkins Leake Sr. and her grandson, Robinson "Rob" Leake IV. She is survived by her son, Robinson Mumford Leake Jr., daughter, Lucie Leake Cassity and husband David Cassity, and her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Cestia Leake. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Leake Mackey and husband Brian Mackey, Ladner Leake, Robert "Bobee" Leake Jr., Hunter Leake and wife Megan Leake, Caroline Leake Marvin and husband Brad Marvin, David Cassity Jr, John Cassity, and Anne Cassity, and by her great-grandchildren, Tousley, Libby, Cate, Davis, and Alice Leake, John and Mary Melton Cassity, Robinson and Charlie Mackey, and Claire Marvin. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. After graduating from Opelousas High School, she received her Bachelors degree from the University of Arkansas, and her Masters degree from Louisiana State University while helping to colonize Delta Omega Chapter of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. As a founding member of the West Feliciana Historical Society she served as the first chairman of the Audubon Pilgrimage in 1972. She was also one of the founders of the Southern Garden Symposium. As Director of Red Cross Swimming for many years she was responsible for providing swimming lessons to many children in the parish. The West Feliciana Civic Club voted her "Citizen of the Year in 1984" for her outstanding service to the community. However, her greatest accomplishment and joy was just being "Nanny" to her extended family and many friends. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 10am until 12noon, with a Mass following, conducted by Father Cary Bani. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, the West Feliciana Historical Society or the charity of your choice.
Elgin Edward Campbell

Campbell, Elgin Edward, 71, died on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Kirby Pines Retirement in Memphis, TN. He was a resident of Collierville, TN and native of Cinco, WV. He retired from Ciba- Geigy with 25 years and the town of Collierville with 10 years. Visiting will be at Clear Creek United Methodist Church in Felixville, LA on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Holly DeLee Campbell; three daughters, Jennifer Harper and husband Travis of Madisonville, LA, Lauren McCoy and husband Jason of Vicksburg, MS, and Natalie Holliday of Collierville, TN; three sons, Todd Campbell and wife JJ of Panama City, FL, Christopher Campbell and wife Stacy of Prairieville, LA and Benjamin Pugh of Southhaven, MS; one sister, Judy Cobb and husband Ron of Parachute, CO; a brother-in-law, Julio Valcarcel of Fredricksburg, MD; grandchildren, Peyton Cherry, Taylor Holliday, Madeline Campbell, Morgan Campbell, Allie Campbell and Hope Harper; and an aunt, Naomi Bess of West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edison and Della Bucklin Campbell, and sister, Nina Valcarcel. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Pugh, Jason McCoy, Travis Harper, Christopher Campbell, Todd Campbell and Robert DeLee. He was an alumni of LSU and served in the US Navy.

Debera B. Robin, 53, died on Friday, September 7, 2012 at her home in Zachary. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting will continue at the funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Danny Robin, two daughters, Jammie Portier Jacobson and husband David and Jerilynn Robin and one son, Jeremy John Barton, one sister, Wanda Faye Robin and husband Randy and one brother, Steve Domingue Grandchildren, Irin Jacobson, Caimen Allen, Kagen Allen, Ive Jacobson, Alannah Wimes, Iden Jacobson and Madden Wimes and special family friend, Kimberly Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Mazie Melancon Barton and siblings, Geraldine Kilby and Gail Armentor. William G. "Bill" Hoffman, Jr.

William G. "Bill" Hoffman Jr., husband of Judi Hoffman, passed away on Tuesday , September 4, 2012 at the age of 67. He was the father of Kevin and Traci Hoffman, Erika and Chris Stuffleben, and Brianne and James Scherer. He is survived by his brothers Bruce Hoffman (Margo), and Barry Hoffman (Lu), his sisters Corliss Ann Griffin, Alison Hoffman, and Catherine Epstein (Arnie), grandchildren, Canaan Trice, Dylan Stanley, Rhys Woods, Lennon Hoffman, Jacob, Mark, David, and Lydia Stuffleben, Riley, Matthew, and Emma Scherer. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mimi Hoffman and his grandson Zachary Trice. Bill was a strong man with a huge heart and great humor. He was known for his deep devotion to LSU as well as his dedication to family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Healing Place Church 19202 Highland Rd. Baton Rouge, LA on Tuesday September 11, 2012 at 11am. Bill was an avid LSU fan and a very casual man so please wear your purple and gold to the services. Luther Felder Cutrer died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson. He was 88 years old, a native of Tylertown, MS and a resident of Jackson. He was retired from East Louisiana State Hospital where he had worked for 20 years. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visiting will continue at the funeral home in Zachary on Sunday, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm service conducted by Sylvester Giroir. Interment will be in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson. He is survived by 2 daughters; Nora Martin & husband Ronald of Jackson and Elaine Pickering & husband Mike of St. Francisville, 1 son; Luther Cutrer Jr. & wife Amy of St. Francisville, 9 grandchildren; Alicia Stringer, Candace Campbell, Chris Hughes, Mardy Fooshee, Johnathon Cutrer, Nathan Cutrer, Kristen Edmonds, Seth Edmonds, and Jacob Edmonds, 16 great grandchildren; Bryce Bankston, Cameron Hughes, Hayleigh Ritchie, Beau Fooshee, Brantley Hughes, Zachary Cutrer, Thor Hughes, Presley Cutrer, Jake Stringer, Eyon Hughes, William Cutrer, Brennan Fooshee, Mallory Fooshee, Nataleigh Cutrer, Ella Claire Stringer, and Brayden Cutrer. He was preceded by his wife of 52 years Ollie Mae Cutrer, father; Isaac Omer Cutrer, mother; Serena Olivia Cutrer, 6 brothers; George, Fleet, Ollie Lee, Onice, Isaac, Eddie Joe, and 2 sisters; Nellie Miller and Elnora Shepard. Pallbearers will be James Miller, Glenis Havard, Gary Delatte, Ronald "Coonie" Giroir, Mike Souter, and Mike Tate. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and Korea. During World War II he earned World War II Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was known to many as the "baseball park dad" spending endless hours watching and coaching to many men, women and children for many baseball and softball organizations.
Norma "Freddye" Higginbotham

Norma "Freddye" Higginbotham, a resident of Zachary, LA, died on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was currently employed with AMG of Feliciana in Clinton, LA. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 9am until services at 10am, conducted by Rev. Ed Jelks. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Richard Higginbotham; one son, Cameron Ray Higginbotham; her mother, Norma Cockrum; one brother, Fred Cockrum Jr., nieces Janice Cockrum and Heather Cockrum and nephew Thomas Cockrum. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Cockrum Sr. Pallbearers will be Richy Perry, Ricky "Chicken" Campbell, Chip LeCoq, Sean McDaniel, Ab Poole, and Kevin Deaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Monte Talley, Brandon Boggs, Hayden Mounce, Hunter Campbell, Stephen McGrath, Jacob Harvey, DJ Johnson, Gage Stevens, Kyle Wilson and Kramer Pickett. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Lane Regional Medical Center Emergency Room and the Our Lady of the Lake for their loving care. Manuel, Billy L. "Rick", 58, died on Monday September 3, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson, LA and retired from East LA State Hospital. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Clinton on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until service at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson. He is survived by his father, Linton J. Manuel of Jackson and cousins, Donna Manuel Murano of Plaquemine and John G. Manuel of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Billye Sue Welch Manuel and grandparents. He was a member of the Jackson Jaycees.
