A Mass will be said Friday at 3 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Metairie cemetery.

Robert Michael Lapara, a supervisor with Control Services, died Saturday of complications of leukemia at Chalmette Medical Center. He was 49. Mr. Lapara was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Bernard Parish for the past 40 years. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include three daughters, Mary and Jennifer Lapara and Amanda Blanchard; a sister, Doris Dainello; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Burial will be in St. Roch cemetery No. 2.

Sidney Lee Smith Sr., a staff sergeant in the Army National Guard, died Monday from a stroke at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 48. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended Southern University of New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Maude Smith; two sons, Lawrence and Stanley Smith Sr.; a daughter, Swanika M. Smith; six brothers, Clyde, Vernell, Rochell Sr., Willard, Roderick and Claude Smith Jr.; two sisters, Lillian S. Bealer and Gloria S. Williams; and five grandchildren. John C. Revertiga, a retired New Orleans firefighter, died Tuesday at Chalmette Medical Center. He was 84. Mr. Revertiga was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Bernard Parish. Dorothy Brown Johnson, a retired benefits counselor at Veterans Affairs, died Saturday at her home. She was 77. Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from L.B. Landry High School and YMCA Business School and attended Southern University in New Orleans. She was a deaconess at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Wilbert M. Johnson III; a daughter, Lavetta Johnson Franklin; a brother, George R. Brow of Washington, D.C.; and six grandchildren. Shirley Villarrubia Cummings, a retired elementary teacher and librarian, died Wednesday at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 89. Mrs. Cummings was born in New Orleans. She was a former resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., and lived in Metairie for the past 11 years. She was a graduate of New Orleans Normal School. She was a member of the Elks Wives' Club Auxiliary, where she served as president in Colorado Springs, and a member of the Newcomers Club of Metairie. Survivors include two daughters, Leslie C. Cavalieri and Karen C. Thompson; a brother, Forrest D. Villarrubia; a sister, June V. Dailey; and four grandchildren. He graduated from S.J. Peters High School. He was a private first class in the Marine Corps during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the New Orleans Clerks and Checkers International Longshoremen's Association Local No. 1497. Survivors include a sister, Audrey McGovern Vesely. Margery Stich, a lifelong volunteer who took her calling to a higher level by leading a City Hall office of volunteers and teaching a college course on the subject, died Wednesday of complications from pneumonia at Touro Infirmary. She was 87. Mrs. Stich was born in Chicago and lived in New Orleans for the past 63 years. She attended Bradford Junior College and the University of Chicago. She was a former model in Chicago and in New Orleans. She was a former president of the Contemporary Arts Center; a former co-chairwoman of the Clean City Committee; a former vice president of the Jewish Community Center; a former volunteer director of the Louisiana Women's Job Corps; a former board member of the city Welfare Department and the Parks and Parkway Commission; a former chairwoman of the committee to establish McKinney House, a halfway house for men with mental illnesses; and a member of the national boards of the National Council of Jewish Women, the National Center for Voluntary Action, the National Association for Mental Health and Brandeis University's National Women's Committee. Survivors include a son, Andrew Charles Stich of Chestnut Hill, Mass.; a daughter, Patricia S. Graver; and four grandchildren. A graveside service was held Friday in Metairie cemetery. Bultman Funeral Home handled arrangements.

James Anthony "Tony" Siatta Jr., an auto mechanic, died Wednesday of liver disease at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Hammond. He was 42. Mr. Siatta was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner before moving to Springfield three years ago. He attended Bonnabel High School. He specialized in rebuilding engines.
