Dewitt "Sonny" David Guy, Sr., age 88, died on Saturday March 31, 2012 at his home in Slaughter. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Chalmette. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, on Monday, April 2, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be on Tuesday at Melville Methodist Cemetery, Melville, LA, at 1 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Guy; children, Dewitt "Joey" Guy, Jr., Dennis Guy and wife Cynthia, Cheryl Riles and husband Raymond, and Michael Guy and wife Alesha; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lillie Guy; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Guy, and four sisters. He served in the US Army and was an avid outdoorsman.
Miner Reginald Dixon, Rev.

Rev. Miner Reginald Dixon Sr., age 94, a southern baptist minister for 50 years pastoring many churches in Louisiana and Mississippi, died on Friday March 30, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary. Visiting will be at Slaughter First Baptist Church on Monday, April 2, 2012 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am service, conducted by Rev. Basil Wicker and Rev. Marc Gregoire. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Day of Zachary, Son, Reggie Dixon and wife, Tonia of Baton Rouge, Sisters, Elva Wheat and husband Arthur, Hilda Dixon, Dorothy Guins and Loretta Brignac and husband Herman, brother, Vernon Dixon and wife, Shine, grandchildren, Aaron Dixon, Keith Day, Jr., Mandy Bourgeois, Stuart Salassi, great-grandchildren, Ashton Dixon, Dillon Carber, Matthew Day, Jaython Dixon, Nathan Day and Jacob Dixon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Annette S. Dixon. Pallbearers will be Robbie Bourgeois and grandsons and great-grandsons. He was a Veteran serving in the US Army receiving a Purple Heart. He attended LSU, he was a graduate of LA College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary receiving his Master's in Divinity and an avid Soul Winner til his last breath.

Barry Reed Smith

Barry Reed "BR" "Buck" Smith passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at OLOL. He was 65, a native of Central and a resident of Pride, La. BR was preceded in death by his parents, the Reverend Teddy Smith and Billy C. Smith; and his daughter, Anna Smith Saucier. He is survived by his longtime love, Susan; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kandyce and Brian Cowart, Randall Saucier, Aimee and Austin Berthelot and Emily and Scott Cheatham; grandchildren, Benjamin Saucier and Anna Hebert, Hannah and Hayden Cowart, Andon and Allie Berthelot and Lillian and Sophie Cheatham. BR graduated from Olla High School and attended LSU. He served proudly in the US Air Force. He is retired from ExxonMobil Chemical after 31 years of service. He loved country music, bass fishing, deer hunting, car races, motorcycle rides, but most importantly taking care of his family. He has enjoyed every minute of his retirement. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him. BR was known for his big generous heart and his love of life. He continues this legacy by leaving his remains to medical research. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, April 13, from 4 p.m. until the memorial service at 6 p.m. at Blackwater United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blackwater United Methodist Church or The Way Church of Denham Springs.

Dudley Jarreau died on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Butterfly Wing. He was 80 years old and a resident of Baker. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, from 9 a.m. until Rite of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., conducted by Fr. Jeffery Bayhi. He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Jarreau; 2 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Thomas Lillis & wife Glenda Presley Lillis and TJ Lillis Jr. & wife Vicky Lillis; 2 sisters, Florence Aymond and Ruby Pourciau; 3 brothers, Cecil Jarreau, Adam Jarreau, and J.B. Jarreau; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Jarreau, Chelsea Lipoma, Tyler Jarreau, Tommi Lillis, Brittany Lillis, Kevin Lillis, and Brand Lillis; and 1 great-grandchild, Trent Jarreau. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cloyce Lafaye Ballard Jarreau, Father, Adam Joseph Jarreau, Mother, Leah David Jarreau and two brothers, Frank Jarreau and Alvin Jarreau.
Vera Wilkinson Fonte

Vera Wilkinson Fonte, a resident of Zachary, LA, and a former nurse, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Lane Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Liberty, MS. Visitation will be at the Zachary First Baptist Church on Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 8am until services at 11am, conducted by Dr. Reggie Bridges. Burial will be at Azalea Rest Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Robert L. Fonte and his wife Janice of Zachary; and Joseph F. Fonte and his wife Rachel of Slaughter; one sister, Marie Tate of Kentwood, LA; and four grandchildren: Royce Fonte, James Joyner, Robert Joyner, and Michelle Joyner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Fonte, her sister, Bonnie Yarbrough, and five brothers.She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Zachary; a member of the 55+ Club, and the Prime Timers.
David Augustus Setzer "Dave"

Dave Setzer, a native of Deridder, LA and a resident of Zachary, died on April 3, 2012, after a battle with esophageal cancer. He was employed for over six years at Honeywell UOP. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 1pm until services at 2pm, conducted by Rev. John Kelley. Burial will be in Feliciana Cemetery in St. Francisville. He is survived by his wife, Kristi Roberts Setzer; two daughters, Haley Setzer and Kaylee Gauthier; three sons: Preston Rispone, Hunter Setzer, and Caleb Gauthier; his father, Durrwood Setzer of Serepta, LA; two sisters, Clara Wilson of Mandeville, LA and Cathy Setzer and her spouse Forrest Andrews of Austin, TX; one brother, Lee Setzer of Montgomery, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Kendrick Setzer; his nephew Fisher Setzer; and his grandparents: Gus and Hazel Setzer; and Ben and Henrietta Kendrick. Pallbearers will be Josh Wolf, David Wolf, Greg Patterson, Mike Bradley, Ricky Roberts, Michael Roberts, Brad LeCoq and Sam Temple.

Visiting will be Friday, April 6, 2012 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary from 5pm until 9pm and on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 9am until service at 10am conducted by Dr. Reggie Bridges and Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial will be in Ash Family Cemetery, Clinton. She is survived by her daughters, Donnie D. Sanches, Arcata, CA and Tammy L. Dours, Zachary. A son, Royce D. Dours, Sr., Columbia, MS A niece, Jackie K. Wells and a son in law, David Poole. 9 grandchildren, Roman Sanches, Jay Dours and wife, Andrea, Meghan Dours, Danielle Dours, Royce Dours, Jr. and wife, Dusty, Mallory Dours, Devin Dours, Michael Poole and Brittany Poole. 9 great grandchildren, Courtney and Dakota Sanches, Emily, Hannah, Junie, and Ashton Dours, Lanie Dours, Katelyn Kinler and Aedyn Dours. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lucien R. Dours, Sr., son, Lucien R. Dours, Jr., daughter, Roberta D. Poole, father, L.E. Tyson; brother, Robert Tyson and mother, Myrtle Pyron Tyson.
