Connie Forbes Sibley

Connie Forbes Sibley, 69, a resident of Greenwell Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at the Butterfly Wing of the Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. Visitation at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Tuesday, Feb.21, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Galilee Baptist Church, Zachary, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ron Lowery and Dr. Mitch Harris. Burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Walter T. Sibley. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Forbes and his wife, Joann, of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie and Ollie Forbes; a sister, Jaunita Templet; and a daughter, Melody Sibley. She was a graduate of Spencer Draughon Business College.

Joseph David Wascome "JD"

Joseph David Wascome, "J.D.," a resident of Slaughter and an Exxon pipefitter for more than 40 years, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012. Visitation will be at The Rock Church, Zachary, on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Rocky Bezet. Burial will be at Port Hudson National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Madeline Stewart Wascome; six children, Joe Wascome Jr. and his wife Emily, Sue Ellen Howland and her husband Alan, Terry Wascome and his wife Angietta, Jeffrey Wascome and his wife, Tammie, Helen Braswell and her husband Billy, and Kristy Phillips and her husband, Mark; a sister, Helen Markey; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Wascome; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, DC and Lillian Wascome; brother, Dan C. Wascome; and nephew, Mike Wascome. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He loved singing, being in the outdoors, cooking and sharing food with others and fellowship.
Maurie Austin Mestepey

A resident of Pride, she died at her home at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. She was 84 years old. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and continues on Friday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. until service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Danny Greig. Burial will be at Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Pride. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, M.L. Mestepey, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Malinda and Randy Smith, Greenwell Springs; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rogers and Sue Morgan Mestepey, Zachary, and Bouchee Mestepey, Pride; two sisters, Margie Roppolo, Baton Rouge, and Carolyn Reeves, Clinton; sisters-in-law; Joyce Austin and Louise Landrum, brother-in-law & sister-in-law; James & Jody Mestepey, four grandchildren, Maranda Williams and husband, Justin, Pheobie Jenkins and husband Jason, Lane Mestepey and wife Sarah, and Morgan Tillman and husband Don; five great-grandchildren, Nate Williams, Maddox Jenkins, Archer Jenkins, Mary Kathryn Mestepey and Reece Tillman. and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Ray Austin; great-grandson, Jaxx Cooper Tillman; brothers, Willie J. Austin and John Louis Austin; sister, Carrie Lou Penny; mother-in-law and father in law, Etta and M.L. Mestepey. Pallbearers will be Rogers Mestepey, Bouchee Mestepey, Randy Smith, Justin Williams, Jason Jenkins, Lane Mestepey and Don Tillman. A resident of Tunica and a native of Rayville, he died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at his home. He was 57. He retired from Louisiana State Penitentiary Angola with 20 years of service. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home Inc. in Zachary on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitationat B-Line Community Church, Angola, on Friday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial in the Honeycutt Family Cemetery, Pond, Miss. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Donna Honeycutt; a son and daughter-in-law, William R. III and Rachel Leblanc Honeycutt; two stepdaughters; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Leminda Honeycutt, and Douglas and Brenda Honeycutt; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He as preceded in death by his parents, William "Daddio" and Jean Honeycutt; and a sister, Shirley Honeycutt. Pallbearers will be the LSP Tactical Unit Honor Guard. Mary Ross Poole

Lovingly known as Ms. Mary, she died Thursday. Feb. 23, 2012, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was 77 and a lifetime resident of Jackson. She was coowner of Mari-Lane Fashions in Jackson. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc. in Clinton on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. until service at noon conducted by Dr. Mack Stewart. Burial in Jackson Cemetery, Jackson. She is survived by her children, Leonard Buckner and fiancée Colleen Rooney, Carolyn Buckner, and Weldon A. Buckner and wife Samantha; siblings, Troy Ross Sr., Minnie White, Billy Ross, Bobby Ross, Julia Ross, Nelda Sikes, John Ross and Linda Ross; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Albert Buckner; her parents, Leonard and Hazel Ross; first husband and father of her children, William Allen Buckner; second husband, Sherley Poole; and sister Marie Davis. Mary was always there to help a friend in need. She will be missed.
John Richard Findlay "Dick"

A resident of Zachary, he died Feb. 21, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center. He was 90 years old and was retired from Stone and Webster at Riverbend with 43 years of service. He was a US Navy “Seabees”.
Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc, in Zachary on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 from 11:30 until Memorial Service at 2pm conducted by Dr. Reggie Bridges.
He is survived by his children, Martha Bacile Findlay, John R. Findlay, Jr. and wife Delia, Donald W. Findlay, and wife, Anita, Robert P. Findlay and wife, Karen, James A. Findlay, Edward J. Findlay, Walter A. Findlay and wife, Debbie and David B. Findlay and wife, Dana.
25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Bacile Findlay, a son, William “Billy” Findlay and 4 sisters.
Memorial donations may be made to defray funeral expenses.
He volunteered his time at the Council on Aging, USS Kidd, the Food Bank, Auxiliary with Lane Regional Medical Center, and Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed running, square dancing and numerous other activities and volunteer work.
Sarah Elizabeth Cavaretta Lee
(November 14, 1940 - March 11, 2012)
A native of Amite and a resident of Zachary, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at her home at the age of 71. She was retired from Lane Regional Medical Center with 16 years of service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at St. Helena Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM conducted by Fr. Mark Beard. Entombment will follow in Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa A. Lee; sisters, JoAnn Booty and husband Lindsey and Judy Sharp; brother, Vince Cavaretta, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Luther A. Lee; parents, Vincent and Lucy Cavaretta. Pallbearers will be Keith Cavaretta, Frankie Lopinto, Danny Kimble, Jan Lee, Rickey Lee and Francis Jackson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Lee and Randy Edgen. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Helena Catholic Church, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
