Barney Ray Smith, Jr.
(February 10, 1953 - June 30, 2012)
Barney Ray Smith Jr. age 59 died Saturday June 30, 2012 from the results of an automobile accident on June 14, 2012. He was a resident of Zachary, LA. He was employed at River- Bend Nuclear Power Station for 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Smith, two daughters, Ashley Smith Donald and husband Matthew and Holly Smith Scroggs and husband, Elliott and sister, Sherri Breland and husband, Rupert. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Mary Stewart and Anna Caroline Donald. He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Yvonne Smith of Bogalusa, LA. Services will be held at Plains Presbyterian Church in Zachary, Louisiana. The wake will be, Monday, July 2, 2012 from 5pm until 9pm at the church and visitation Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 9am with a service to follow at 10am. John W. Perry Sr.
(June 27, 1926 - July 4, 2012)
John W. Perry, Sr., 86, born in Bentonia, MS, and a resident of Zachary, LA, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Nell Dougherty Perry; one daughter, Janelle Simms Elliott (and her husband, Buddy Elliott), of Baton Rouge; three sons and daughters- in-law, all of Baton Rouge, John W. Perry, Jr.(and his wife, Fran C. Perry), James P. Perry (and his wife, Margaret Perry), and Joseph D. Perry (and his wife, Christy Perry); and ten grandchildren, Erin C. Perry, John W. Perry, III, Steven J. Perry, Jennifer Perry, Nicholas Perry, Garrett Simms, Benjamin Simms, Clay Elliott, Kathryn Elliott, and Claire Frances Perry. He is also survived by a brother in Bentonia, MS, Mr. Harold D. Perry, and a sister in Audubon, NJ, Ms. Emma Claire Rauscher. He was preceded in death by his sonin- law, Gary T. Simms. Prior to retiring from a 42 year career with the Illinois Central Railroad, he was a past president of the Zachary Rotary Club. Before and after retirement, he was also an active member of the St. John the Baptist Men's Club. However, his true passion was a life devoted to his family and friends (and simple values). He never met a stranger. In fact, when he did, there was generally an attempt on his part to determine if he could possibly be related to the new acquaintance! He was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary (4727 McHugh Drive), followed by Mass to be celebrated by Father M. Jeffery Bayhi and Father Mike Collins. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and Buddy Elliott. The family would like to thank the church community of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church as well as all friends and caregivers for their loving care. Carie Marie Seab Cook

Carie Marie Seab Cook, 99, of Wilson, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary. She was employed with the East Feliciana Parish School system with 42 years of service teaching at Mckowen High School in Jackson and Silliman Institute in Clinton. Visiting will be at Wilson Community Church in Wilson, where she was a pianist for many years, on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 12:30 pm until service time at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. Alvin Hall, Rev. Darwin Hall and Rev. Harold Babin. Burial will be in Eastern Star Cemetery in Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wickliffe A. Cook and parents, Benjamin C Seab and Ida Middleton Seab. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Olga Matherne, Dean Padgett and Nancy Cook. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Zahorchak, Jacob Zahorchak, Russell Zahorchak, Bobby Ross, Kirwin Ross, Kell Munson, John Patten, Joe Stott and Dean Padgett. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Ford and Thomas Blue. She attended Silliman Junior college for two years and earned her BS degree from LSU.
Miriam Anita Thomas White
(June 11, 1933 - July 4, 2012)
Miriam Anita Thomas White passed away Wednesday, July 4 at her home in Clinton. She was 79 years old. She was born June 11, 1933 in Duckhill, Mississippi where she grew up, but later made Clinton her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noel Thomas Sr., brother Noel Thomas Jr., husband Sidney Percy White, brother-in -law Charles W. Dyer and mother-in-law Eugenia Percy White. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth White Brown and son-in-law, Steve Brown, sister Ada Dyer, and brothers Jimmy Thomas (wife Helen Thomas), John (Billy) Thomas, and sister-in-law Patsy Thomas. She also leaves behind her devoted companion, Robert H. Hodges of Baton Rouge. "Aunt Sissy", "Aunt Sista, "Aunt Miriam" as she was referred to, retired from work at Clinton Bank and Trust in the early 80s to stay home and care for her great nieces and nephews in a way that only she could. Nieces and nephews are Larry Thomas (wife Kathy), Steven Thomas (wife Lynn), Scott Thomas and Liz Lynch, Jay Max Hunt, Stacey Wheeler (husband Jeff), Stephanie Kerr (husband Chris), Jami Perry (husband Lee), Alison Duplessis (husband Sam), Karen Allen (husband Randall), Brandy Baus, Lynn and Willie White. Great nieces and nephews are Brian Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Wendell Thomas, Parker Thomas, Emily Hunt, Jaycee Hunt, Anna Gonzales, MJ Gonzales, Beau Wheeler, Max Wheeler, Will Jones, Christian Kerr, Kaitlin Perry, Glen Duplessis,Evan Duplessis, Jay Allen, Corey Honea, Remy Fin, Martell Baus, Billy Percy, Roxy Rouchon, Lissa Gaffney, Mel Percy and a host of others, as well as great-great nieces and nephews. Her beauty of spirit will be missed terribly by all who knew her. Pallbearers will be Mel Percy, Chris Kerr, Will Jones, Beau Wheeler, Max Wheeler and Christian Kerr. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Bankston, Mike Felps, Toler Hatcher, Ovis Herrod, George Kilbourne, Rick Lalande, Hubert L. Polk and Hal Ware. Visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral Home in Clinton on Friday, July 6, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., with a service conducted by Pastor Tony Hand at 11:00 and burial at the Masonic Cemetery.
Carolyn Sue Weeks Donnelly

Sue Weeks Donnelly, of St. Francisville, Louisiana, died on July 5, 2012 at the age of 67. Visiting will be on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Jackson Hall at 9am until 10:45am. Service will be at 11am at Grace Episcopal Church, St. Francisville. She will be buried with her sons at Grace Episcopal Church cemetery in St. Francisville. A self-taught artist, Sue enjoyed working with all media, from her favorite, water colors, to acrylics and oils. She was known to paint on anything: old windows, fence boards, even tar paper. Her artistic legacy lives on in the many works of art she gifted to family and friends over the years. Born on July 14, 1944, in North Carolina, where her father was stationed in the U.S. Army, Sue grew up all over the southeastern United States, moving around as her father was reassigned. She was a 1962 graduate of Leesville High School. Her mobile childhood translated into a life-long love of travel and adventure; she and her husband were always in the midst of a trip or busy planning for the next one. She counted Scotland, Ireland, London, Germany and Hawaii among her favorite places to visit. Eventually she turned her passion into profit and became a partner in a travel agency: Rainbow Travel in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Her other true love was reading; her book collection exceeds 14,000 novels. Additionally, Sue was a devoted volunteer at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility where she enjoyed working with female prisoners on faith-based rehabilitation programs. Sue is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jack Donnelly, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzette and Willis Daniel of St. Francisville; a granddaughter, Jessica Daniel El Bechir, and a great-granddaughter, Giselle El Bechir of Washington D.C.; her mother, Ruby Weeks Stephens of Lake Rosemound; and one brother, Tommy Weeks, and his wife, Suzanne Hall, of Lake Rosemound; sister in law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Ray Cianfrani of New Jersey and brother in law and sister-inlaw, Mike and Sally Donnelly currently of Del Rio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her two sons, Kurt and Kyle; her father, Roy Weeks; her sister, Vickie Weeks and Vickie's son, Jason Weeks as well as many family and friends that we know are eagerly awaiting her. Special thanks for Pointe Coupee Hospice and Lakeview Manor Nursing Home, New Roads for all the care and diginity give to Sue and her family over this last year.

A loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Dot passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Oakwood Village Assisted Living in Zachary, La. She was 91 and a native of New Orleans. Survived by 5 sons and their spouses: Stephen and Debra, Don and Nancy, Ray and Sharon, Chris and Judy, Tim and Dawn, 1 daughter: Karlee Davezac LeRoux and spouse Terry, 13 Grandchildren: Robert, Julia Davezac Fuller and husband Doug, Jeffrey Browne, Lauren, Rachel, Danielle, Boyd and wife Erin, Amy Davezac Deris and husband Barrett, Rebecca, Katie, Cullen, Chris, Jr. and wife Aimee, Alesha Markey, 2 Great-Grandchildren: Will and Dean Davezac. She will be sadly missed by her sister Ms. Rita Gibbs. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Ramon A. Davezac, parents, Dr. Charles B. and Leola Hock, 3 brothers, Charles, Roy and Morrell Hock and sister, Helen Hock Durel. Visitation at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will be at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1322 Moss St., in New Orleans on Tuesday, July 10, celebrating her life from 12:00pm (noon) until a Catholic Mass at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her 5 sons and 5 grandsons.
John Wesley Smith "J.W."

John W. Smith, of Clinton, LA left us July 8th to go be with his Lord and Savior. Born August 12, 1937, he lived most of his life in Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, and Clinton. J.W. was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Josyane; his father and mother, George Wesley and Viola Rushing Smith; and a brother Terry A. Smith. He is survived by his second wife, Kathleen; his son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey Paul and Christie Ann Smith; one granddaughter, Jolie Ann; and one brother, Kenny Smith. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1955, attended LSU in Baton Rouge. He served in the United States Navy, and worked as a Louisiana State Trooper for 25 years. He was a Master Mason for 28 years, during which time he was Master of both the Denham Springs and Olive Lodge in Clinton La. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Certificate Association and a Charter Member of the Livingston Certificate Association. J.W. was known by the nick name "Scoop" and was an avid bass angler and deer hunter. During his retirement years J.W. performed at the Baker Little Theatre and the Baton Rouge Little Theatre. J.W. landed acting roles in several movies and published one book which was his autobiography. He was a shining example for all men to follow and he will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary, La., on Friday evening, July 13, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 9am until services at 11am. A Masonic service will be held at 10:30am, immediately before the funeral services. J.W. will be laid to rest at Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary, La. Pallbearers will be Olive Lodge Masons: James Bradham, Worshipful Master; James Hodges, Senior Warden; Randall Taylor, Junior Warden; Scott Broderick, Past Master; Ronald McMorris, Past Master; David McKnight; Richard McKnight; and Bobby Castello, Past Master.
