Johnnie Lee Hamilton of Monroe, a homemaker, died Saturday, January 3, 1998.
Funeral: January 10, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Liberty Christian Center.
Burial Richwood Memorial Gardens.

Sister Johnnie Lee Hamilton was born on January 26, 1919 in Salem, LA, to Godley L. Hamilton and Carrie L. Smith Hamilton.
Her homecoming was January 3, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, LA.
She began her Christian walk at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. H.Y. Bell in Monroe, LA.
She later moved her membership to Liberty Christian Center under Pastors Johnny and Pamela Drumgole.
Survivors include (1) brother: W. L. Hamilton, El Paso, TX; (3) three daughters: Ardell R. Potier (Miles), Baton Rouge, LA; (1) one son, Jeffery White, Monroe, LA; (11) eleven grandchildren and (1) one great-grandchild; (4) four nieces; Beverly Bradford, Ruston, LA; Norma Johnson, Mary C. Aubrey, Wanda Hunter Reed, Oakland, CA.; (3) three nephews; Paul Hunter, Oakland, CA; Ronnie Hunter, Washington D.C.; Jim Hamilton, Jr., Houston, TX, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The order of the service was as follows: Processional Minister and Family; selection, choir; scripture and Prayer, Rev. A.J. Mansfield; selection, choir, Eulogies, As A Friend, Berida Kennon, As a Grandmother, Gregory Hamilton, As a Mother, Jacqueline Dotray; selection, choir, Acknowledgements and Condolences; solo; message; Pastor Johnny Drumgole.
Active Pallbearers were: Brother Robert Underwood, Brother Robert Douzart, Brother Johnny Turner, and Liberty Christian Center Porters.
Honorary Pallbearers Michael Dotray, William Lee, Miles Potier, and Gregory Hamilton.

Sister Vallye C. Jordan Jenkins was born in Dubberly, Louisiana, to the late Resse and Ella Jordan.
At an early age, she was converted and baptized at the Galilee Baptist Church, where the Rev. J. A. Moore was Pastor.
She moved to Gibsland, LA, where she stayed until she moved to Monroe, and united with the First Baptist Church.
At First Baptist, she served as Sunday School teacher of Class #8.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Family, until she was physically unable to attend.
Sister Jenkins worked for the Louisiana Agricultural Extension Service until she retired
She passed this life on January 5, 1998.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, friends and First Baptist Church Family.
The order of service was as follows: Prelude; Processional; Congregational Hymn; Scripture, Old and New Testaments, Rev. Lovely Callaway; Hymn, choir; expressions, Deacon Herman Wilson; Brother Billye Thomspon (nephew); selection, choir; acknowledgements; solo, Sister Corine Henderson; eulogy, Pastor A. Mansfield; Recessional.
Active Pallbearers were Deacon Herman Wilson, Deacon Bienville Brown, Deacon Tommy Brown, Brother Larry Mason, Brother Charles Winston, Brother Donald Herrington. Honorary Pallbearers class number 8.

Alberta Kirk, 74
Alberta Kirk of Monroe, a retired nurse's aide, died Tuesday, January 6, 1998.
Funeral: Saturday, January 10, 1998 at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Burial: Magnolia Cemetery.
Miller Funeral Home.
Sister Alberta Kirk was born April 3, 1923, Mangham, LA, to Cassie Williams and Walter Williams.
She departed this life January 7, 1998 at 3:30 p.m., at LSU Medical Center
She was baptized at the Antioch Baptist Church under Rev. J. C. Rodgers.
Sister Kirk later united with the Mount Olivet Baptist Church in October 1981, under the pastorate of Rev. Oliver W. Billups, Jr.
During her time of service at Mount Olivet, Sister Kirk served as an usher in the Senior Ushers Ministry.
She was an active member of the Senior Mission; and served as the Supervisor of the Nursery during Sunday Worship Service.
Sister Kirk was a well-known in the Renwick Addition as a community activist and a compassionate benefactress of the needy.
Mother Alberta Kirk leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters: Linda Williams (Willie), Arlington, TX; Alberta Kirk, Monroe, LA; three sons: Victor Kirk, Baton Rouge, LA; Rev. Rogers Kirk (Roselind), Davenport, IA.; Louis Kirk (Debbie), Arlington, TX., one sister: Naomi Hegwood, Monroe, LA.; 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The order of service was as follows: Processional, minister and family; selection, choir; scripture and prayer, Brother Mariko T. Billups; selection, choir; expressions, Rev. Rogers Kirk; solo, Faye Strawder; acknowledgements and condolences; obituary (read silently); hymn; eulogy, Rev. Oliver W. Billups, Jr.; recessional.
Active pallbearers included the Mount Olivet Brotherhood and ushers.
The Honorary pallbearers was the Senior Mission; interment Magnolia Cemetery.

Sister Cheffin married the late Anderson Cheffin, Sr.
Sister Cheffin was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church since childhood.
She enjoyed participating in the different activities of St. Paul and being a part of God's creation, Sister Cheffin enjoyed hearing and singing "Amazing Grace" and the scripture - Psalm 23.
Sister Cheffin leaves to cherish her memories four sons: Anderson Cheffin, Jr. and Darnell Cheffin, both of Monroe, Louisiana, Ralph Cheffin of Akron, Ohio, Ronnie Cheffin of Houston Texas; one daughter: Carrie Bourn of Houston, Texas; four sisters: Marguerite Smith of Detroit, Michigan, Celola Carridine of Monroe, Martha Dangerfield and Laura Johnson Los Angeles, California; one brother: Myles Williams of Monroe; sixteen grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The order of service was as follows: Processional minister and family; selection, choir, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus"; scripture; Old Testament, Psalm 23; New Testament, John 14: 1-7; Prayer; song, "His Eye is on the Sparrow;" expressions, Sister E. Dunn; Acknowledgements and Condolences; solo, "Amazing Grace;" eulogy, Rev. Anthony Ziegler; Recessional.
Active Pallbearers was family and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers Trustees of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Interment was held at the Richwood Memorial Gardens.
