Rev. Charles Bradley Brass, formerly of Monroe, died January 2, 1998 in Rochester, New York.
His obituary read as follows:
"Charles Bradley Brass was born January 28, 1946 in Monroe, Louisiana.
He attended Carver Elementary School and Carroll High School.
Then he furthered his education at North East State University in Monroe, Louisiana, and Grambling State University.
He was baptized at Avenue Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana, and attended the Free Gift Baptist Church.
Charles moved to Rochester, New York, in 1967, where he married the former Dorothy Purdue.
He attended St. Simon's Episcopal Cyrene Church.
He was well known in Rochester, New York, for his Civil Rights and Community Activist Work; Co-Founder of Rochester Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (S.C.L.C.) Developer of Low Moderate Income Housing, known today as the Holland Street Townhouses and the Martin Luther King, Jr.
Memorial Gardens, and nationally known for his Housing Consulting and C.O.R.E. activities.
He was also an employee at Eastman Kodak for many years.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Dorothy; step-son, Ferman Adams, Jr.; mother, Ora Lee Brass of Monroe, La.; brother Rev. Bennie (Christine) Brass; niece, Ashley of Rochester, New York; sister, Neller Jean Guice of Monroe, Louisiana; two grandchildren; aunts and uncles, Willie C. (Mildred) Brown of Rochester, New York, Rev. J.J. (Asberry) Stewart, Rev. Ellis (Mary) Brown, both of Monroe, Louisiana, and Alec Brass of New Orleans.
