A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Plaquemine Care.
He was 63.
Visiting in the chapel of New Southside Funeral Home from 9 a.m. Saturday until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Stephen Ratcliff.
Interment in Gilbert Memorial Park.
Survived by his caregiver, Gladys Green; a sister, Ellen Turner; and a brother, William Davis.

ILES, SR. DAVID
A retired pipe fitter, a former math and English teacher and a resident of Denham Springs, he died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at his home. He was 81 and a native of Sugartown. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a private first class in Company D, 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, ATO Medal, APTO Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Memorial service at Gray's Creek Baptist Church, Denham Springs, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, conducted by the Rev. Carl Sullivan. A memorial service will be held at Ferry Lake Baptist Church on Ferry Lake Road, Oil City, at a later date. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Lovella Burr Iles of Denham Springs; children and their spouses, Annette and Cliff Lynch, Memphis, Tenn., Kathy and Lee Bryant, Alabaster, Ala., David Iles, Jr., Denham Springs, Rodger and Mary Ann Ford, LaPlace, Janice and Donnie Hull, Denham Springs, Vicki DuVall, Denham Springs, Carolyn and Glenn Wright, Baton Rouge, and Gina Hall, Aurora, Colo.; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Claudia Nell Reed, Shreveport, and Dorothy Green, White Pine, Tenn.; and a brother, Raymond Iles, Oil City. Preceded in death by his parents, Edith Crowder and Claude Iles; a sister, Doris Iles; and a lifetime friend, Jimmy Law. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, Shreveport, and the VFW. JACKSON, RODERICK KARDELL
A resident of Plaquemine, he passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at 2:20 a.m. at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge.
He was 26 and a native of Plaquemine.

LEE, JR. JOHN LLOYD
On Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., we lost a wonderful man when John Lloyd Lee, Jr. died at his home following a valiant struggle with cancer. A generous and creative man, and one of true grace, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend … a man of articulate and judicious temperament, with strong though quiet conviction, and unwavering integrity. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. An honorably discharged U.S. Army-Air Forces veteran of World War II and a captain in the Army Reserve, he graduated from LSU in mechanical engineering. Many know him from his years of coaching Union National American Legion baseball and as a Boy Scout troop leader. He retired as maintenance supervisor from Ethyl Corp. in 1985. He was a past master of Eastgate Lodge 452, member of the Baton Rouge Scottish Rite Bodies and president of the Acacia Shrine Klown Unit in Baton Rouge, where he was known as "Southbound." He attended Broadmoor United Methodist Church and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Born Feb. 23, 1924, to Esther and John Lloyd Lee, Sr. (St. Joseph), John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Lusk of New Orleans; and by sons, John Lloyd, III and wife, Victoria Graves and Robert Kenneth of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Rebecca Lee of Santa Fe, N.M.; and seven grandchildren, Edward and Samantha Lee of Baton Rouge, and Misty, Adrienne, Joshua, Kristen and Joseph Lee of Golden Meadow. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Allen Lee. Heartfelt appreciation is hereby extended to all the Lees' many personal friends and, particularly, to a very special group of men, the Acacia Klowns, for their uplifting visits, cards, support and encouragement. A retired warehouseman with Ormet Corp. and a resident and native of Gonzales, he died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City.
He was 80 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a longtime usher and pioneer of St. Mark Catholic Church and first president of the Usher Society.

Retired from Kean's Laundry and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at 7:35 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
She was 79 and a native of Ethel. Visiting at Beauchum Grove No. 1 Baptist Church, Ethel, from noon Saturday, April 12, 2003, until service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Sterling Wright, pastor.
Interment in St. Paul Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survived by four daughters, Rosemary Jackson, Patricia Brightman, Carolyn Morris and Jeanne Verrette; a sister, Gladys Williams; a brother, Dave Sanders; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and five brothers.
She was a member of Beachum Grove No. 1 Baptist Church.
