FLOYD, ROLAND R.

A veteran of the Korean War, he fought on the front lines and received the prestigious Purple Heart for valor, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, U.N. Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badge. He left this earth and entered into eternal rest at the age of 71 at 4 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City, after a lengthy and courageous battle against numerous illnesses.
Being a kind and gentle man of great personal strength and immense love for his family and his country, he truly defined the meaning of unconditional love. A graduate of Baton Rouge High School, class of 1948, and the University of Southern Mississippi, he then worked and retired from the Louisiana State Civil Service and co-owned "Dance World."
He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 38, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years and an active participant of the First Presbyterian "Fas Crowd."
Visitation at First Presbyterian Church, downtown, from 10 a.m. Monday until services at 1 p.m., conducted by Pastor John Schmidt.
Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park with full military honors.
Survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Sandra Marrs Floyd; mother, Helen Wileman Floyd; two loving sons, Buck Floyd and Roland Ray Floyd, Jr.; granddaughter, Alice Charlene "Alli" Floyd, whom he adored; and a sister, Rosemary Floyd.
Preceded in death by his father, H.B. "Buck" Floyd; grandparents, Joseph and Ida Wileman and Leon and Minnie Floyd.
Pallbearers will be his son, R. Ray Floyd, Jr., Preston Boyd, Joe Wileman, Pete Covington, Dale Patton, Conrad Girlinghouse, D.D. Bradford and Buck Langlois.
Honorary pallbearers are Weldon McInnis, Gerard Ruth, Otis McKnight and David Safer.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff of C.I.C.U. at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City, Dr. Reza Sheybani, Dr. Nicolas Campo and Dr. Edward Chiasson.
Also, special thanks to Dr. Melvin Samuels, retired, and Dr. David Swanson at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston.

GOINS, ANDRAE P.

A native of Newellton and a resident of Baton Rouge, he was born Oct. 25, 1961.
He departed this life at his mother's home in Baton Rouge, on the morning of Dec. 13, 2001.
He was a self-employed truck driver for North American Van Lines for 18 years.
He will be remembered as a quiet, caring friend, for his work and generosity to others and his love for fishing.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; his father, Andrew Goins; and a brother, Adrian Charles Goins.
To mourn his passing, he leaves a grandmother, Carrie Lee Pollard; mother, Earnestine Pollard Goins; a brother, Cedric Wayne Goins; a sister-in-law, LaShawn Davis Goins; and three nieces, Katari, Chloe and Kennedy, all of Baton Rouge.
He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road, from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday until religious services at 10 a.m.
Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens.

JOHNSON, ELLA MAE ARCHIE "MAE MAE"

A retired school teacher and resident of Baton Rouge, she died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at her residence.
She was 69 and a native of Ventress.
Visiting at New Southside Funeral Home, 924 S. 14th St., from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 [2001].
Religious services at the funeral home chapel, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. James Graceson.
Interment in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery.
Survived by four sister, Velma Victorian, Thelma Polk, Gevenia Williams and Ionna Goldsmith.
Preceded in death by father and mother, two brothers and a sister.

LEJEUNE, CONRAD JOSEPH "BOBBY"

A retired DCI corrections lieutenant and an employee of Pinkerton Corp. at Stupp Corp. in Baker, he died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge.
He was 52, a resident of Slaughter, and native of Eunice.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Visiting was at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Visiting at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Basil Wicker, assisted by the Rev. Darwin Brecheen.
Interment in Feliciana Rest Cemetery, Slaughter.
Survived by wife, Rebecca Maglone LeJeune, Slaughter; mother, Provice Gaspard LeJeune, Eunice; a daughter and son-in-law, Candice and Thomas L. Murphy, Woodland, Texas; a grandson, Phillip L. Murphy, Woodlands; a sister, Dianne Darbonne, Eunice; and two brothers, Jeffrey LeJeune, Eunice, and Avery LeJeune, Ferris, Ill.
Preceded by father, Joseph E. LeJeune; and a daughter, Ada Belle LeJeune.
He was a member of Slaughter United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to Louisiana Diabetes Association or Slaughter United Methodist Church Emergency Fund.

LIOTTA, THERESA SCARINA

She died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at her residence near Independence.
She was 92 and a native of Cornerview.
Visitation was at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. Monday.
Religious services at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Paul McDuffie.
Interment in Colonial Cemetery, Independence.
Survived by a daughter, Jean L. Guzzardo, Independence; eight grandchildren, Debbie Guzzardo Vicknair, Michael R. Guzzardo, David J. Guzzardo, Darlene Latino Broussard, Danielle Chapman Clement, Daniel Chapman, Glenn Crowdus and Theresa Crowdus Galatas; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Nick Liotta; and a daughter, Lena Marie Latino Chapman Crowdus.

LOUQUE, MELVIN P.

A lifelong resident of Grand Point, he died at the age of 70 at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Baton Rouge.
He was the husband of the late Ruth Poche Louque; father and father-in-law of Brenda and Reed St. Pierre, Grand Point, Stanley and Bonnie Louque, Morgan City, Greg Louque, Gramercy, and Dalton and Rose Louque, Clayton, N.C.; grandfather of Cherie Accardo, LaPlace, Shane, Ryan and Brady St. Pierre, all of Grand Point, Ashley Louque, Elkton, Md., and Gabrielle Louque, Clayton; brother of Enola Brignac, Lutcher, Annabelle Bourgeois, Gramercy, Gladys Louque, Eunice Poche and Alcee "A.J." Louque, Jr., all of Grand Point, and John Wayne "T-Coke" Louque, Gramery.
He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Morris Louque, Sr. and Newton Louque; and parents, Alcee, Sr. and Louise Martin Louque.
Visiting at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Interment in church cemetery.

McKNIGHT, BOOKER T. "SON"

A resident of Greensburg, he departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge.
He was 73 and a native of Liberty, Miss.
Visiting at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, Inc., 7803 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
Religious services at Darlington Church of God in Christ, Willie and Otis Matthew Road, Darlington, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by Elder E.J. Higginbotham.
Interment in church cemetery.

NETTLES, WANDA A.

Died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at University Hospital of Maryland.
Arrangements are pending at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs.

PETIT, SR. CLAUDE ALVIN "NUKEE"

A self-employed farmer and resident and native of Hester, he died at 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Kenner Regional Hospital.
He was 88.
Visiting was at Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Religious services at St. Michael Catholic Church, Convent, at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Mario Rizzuto.
Interment in church cemetery.
Survived by wife, Melda Brady Petit, Hester; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Glenda and Joseph Accardo and Karen and Ewell "Buddy" Poirrier, all of Lutcher; Dr. Judy Petit, Kenner, and Gerolyn and Perry Roussel, Jr., LaPlace; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Claude, Jr. and Joyce Petit, Lutcher, and Dale Petit, Hester; four sisters, Dorothy Roussel, Gonzales, Diana Marchese, Metairie, Rose P. Louviere, New Orleans, and Evelyn Pitts, Gresham, Ore.; three brothers, Harold Petit, Hester, Herbert Petit Sr., New Orleans, and Melvin Petit, Hester; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by parents, Michel and Evelyn Louque Petit; three sons, Murphy, Raymond and Wayne Petit; a grandson, Scott Accardo; and five brothers, Dudley, Michael, Ronald and Donald Petit and Gerald Petit Miller.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons-in-law.
He was an honorary member of the Belmont Hunting Club.

RAMER, BEVERLY IONE BARTON

Retired founder and co-owner of Ramer's Grocery and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 5:35 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Sunrise Assisted Living.
She was 81 and a native of Lacour.
Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
Visiting at Jefferson United Methodist Church, 10328 Jefferson Highway, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Carol Winn, pastor. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Survived by three daughters, Irma and husband, Robert Bates of Zachary, and Linda Levet and Helen and husband, Randy Barrilleaux, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, George and wife, Brenda Arrington Ramer of Florien, and John and wife, Bobbie Breaux Ramer of Lafayette; a sister, Dorothy and husband, Morice Mayeux of Gonzales; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Arthur K. (Harriet) Barton of Baton Rouge. Her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren are John and wife, Sue Tonione and children, Joshua, James and Sydney; Kimberly and husband, Jon Salter and daughter, Corinne; Randall and wife, Janis Barrilleaux and daughters, Rebecca and Juliette; Ernie and wife, Joanne Barrilleaux and children, Christen and Casen; Curtis and wife, Teli Barrilleaux and daughters, Audrey and Olivia; Michael Barrilleaux; Ashley and husband, Paul Clement; Scott Levet and daughters, Taylor Mya and Leigh; and Eric, Travis and Amanda Ramer.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and innumerable friends whom she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Ramer; her parents, Arthur K. Barton and Irma Miller Barton; sisters, Claudia Hoyt and Katherine Barton; and brothers, Irvin Barton and Arthur K. Barton, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Scott Levet, Curtis, Michael and Ernie Barrilleaux, Jon Salter, Paul Clement, Eric Ramer and John Tonione.
Honorary pallbearers are Randall Barrilleaux, Terry Gahn, Travis Ramer, Josh Tonione, Sidney Nesom, Bob Bates and Randy Barrilleaux.
Her only hobby was loving her fellow man with an unconditional love and sharing her hugs and kisses with everyone.

ROBINSON, JR. COSTELLO

Died peacefully at home at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001.
He was 74 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge.
Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home from 4 p.m. Tuesday until religious services at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ivory Payne.
Dismissal Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park.

RODRIGUE, VELMA LEGENDRE "AUNT T"

A homemaker and resident and native of Donaldsonville, she died at 9:36 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, in Baton Rouge.
She was 81, born Nov. 19, 1920.
Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 8 a.m. Tuesday until religious services in the chapel at 11 a.m.
Interment in Ascension Cemetery.
Survived by a sister, Rita Legendre Pizzolato, Donaldsonville; a sister-in-law, Josephine Pizzolato Legendre, Donaldsonville; five nephews, Frank, Jr. and Jimmie Pizzolato and Claude and Clark Legendre, all of Donaldsonville, and godchild Kenneth Pizzolato, Baton Rouge; two nieces, Kathleen L. Scioneaux and Elaine L. Landry, both of Donaldsonville; a godchild, Marie Bonadona Rushing; a long-time companion, Harry J. Morris, Donaldsonville; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceded in death by husband, Edwin J. Rodrigue; parents, Claude and Elaine Rodrigue Legendre; a brother, Wilfred P. Legendre; and a great-nephew, Frank Pizzolato, III.
