Elvina Loeffel Rufin, a homemaker, died Monday in New Orleans. She was 88. Mrs. Rufin was born in Claxton, Ga., and lived in New Orleans for many years. She was a member of Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Denis E. Rufin III; a daughter, Virginia Dare Rufin; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Tommy Lee Smith, a retired custodian, died Saturday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 80. Mr. Smith was born in Lancen, Ark., and lived in New Orleans for the past 60 years. He worked at the U.S. Customs House and the Andrew Jackson condominiums. He was an Army veteran and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Boudouin Smith; two sons, Ralph and Tommie Lee Smith; a stepson, Ferdinand Jefferson; four stepdaughters, Patricia Ainey, Linda Jarrah, Elaine Turner and Corliss Hickerson; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Louisiana Undertaking Co., 1449 N. Claiborne Ave. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Biloxi National cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.

Florence D. Taylor, a homemaker, died June 30 at Memorial Medical Center. She was 83. Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church for more than 60 years. Survivors include a sister, Dottie Descant. Private services were held. Harold Gene Marshall, a professional musician and composer, died Monday of Alzheimer's disease at his home. He was 63. Mr. Marshall was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. During his career he formed the Dauphin Trio and the Village Singers. He also played with Jimmy Buffet. Survivors include his wife, Doris Smith; a son, Todd Richard Marshall; and a brother, Frank Richard Marshall. Palma "Pam" Rose Magnon Walton Allen, a homemaker and certified dog groomer, died Sunday of kidney disease at her home. She was 45. Mrs. Allen was born in New Orleans and lived in Slidell for the past year. She was vice president of the PTA of Destrehan High School for three years. Survivors include her husband, Ronald J. Allen; two sons, Jimmy Patrick Barr Jr. and Michael Anthony Barr; a daughter, Tiffany Rose Walton; her stepmother, Willie Magnon; two sisters, Jo Ann Brown and Susie Duplantis; and two grandchildren. She was a member of the residence board in Venetian Isles and People's Program. Survivors include two sons, Richard Gonzales of Atlanta and Ronald Gonzales; a daughter, Carolyn Thomas of Edmond, Okla.; three stepdaughters, Brenda Arnber of Metairie, Judee Hanneman of New Orleans and Jane Corr of Plano, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Joseph I. Mizelle, a retired public relations director and advertising executive, died Saturday at Greenbriar nursing home in Slidell. He was 75. He was born in Laurel, Miss., and graduated from George S. Gardiner High School in Laurel and from Mississippi College. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He operated Mizelle and Co. in New Orleans and was past president and board member of the Louisiana Nature and Science Center and the New Orleans City Ballet. He was a past vice president of the Holman Vocational Center and was active in the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions. He was a past junior warden of St. Anna's Episcopal Church. He is survived by four sisters, Willie May Suddith Slaughter of Slidell, Doris Ruffin of Laurel, Helen Luckey of Jackson, Miss., and Betty Howard of Kokomo, Ind. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lake Park cemetery in Laurel. Visitation will begin at 12:45 p.m at Memory Chapel.
