A loving wife, mother and grandmother to all and a homemaker, she died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Gonzales Health Care. She was 89 and a native of Whitehall. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Whitehall, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Vic Panaligan. Interment in Whitehall Community Cemetery. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Emelda and Noblisse Fontenot, Whitehall, and Lena "Bitsy" and Stanley Balfantz, Maurepas; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Nolan Delatte and friend Sue, Delton and Lois Delatte, David and Diana Delatte, and Gilbert and MiMi Delatte, all of Whitehall; a sister, Cecile Fridge, Sorrento; two brothers, Melton "Perry" Brown and Murphy Brown, both of Whitehall; 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Delatte; parents, Peter and Lena Scivicque Brown; two sisters, Mildred Villar and Louise Savoy; two brothers, Chester and Lester Brown; two grandchildren, Ricky Delatte and Christina Balfantz; and two great-grandchildren, Brandy Jo Hoover and Kayla Scivicque. A teacher in public and private schools, she died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was 66 and a native of Eunice. He served his country in the National Guard. A homemaker and resident of Baton Rouge, she died unexpectedly at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002. She was born on Jan. 4, 1945, in Emporia, Kan. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Joseph "Jim" Fox; two sons, Craig Steven Fox and wife, Beth of Baton Rouge and Todd Joseph Fox of Denham Springs; a grandson, Daniel Stuart Fox; mother, Evelyn Mayes; sisters, Janice M. Stone and husband, John of Tulsa, Okla., and Cris M. Winter and husband, Kavin of Emporia; brothers, Philip Mayes and wife, Alma, Grand Junction, Colo., and Larry Mayes; and a sister-in-law, Betty F. Maher and husband, Steve, Fort Myers, Fla. Preceded in death by her father, Jay Mayes. GRISSOM, SR. JOHN WESLEY
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith," 2 Timothy 4:7. A resident of Grosse Tete, he died at 5:18 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge, after a long battle with emphysema. He was 66. He was a 1954 graduate of Istrouma High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He had a vast knowledge of livestock and contributed his time to the Iberville Parish 4-H program. He went to work for Dow Chemical Co. in 1961, and retired after 30 years of service. He was a quarter horse trainer who raised halter, cutting, reining and race horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was an extremely hard worker who accomplished many goals. He was also a master of many crafts. He was loved and will be missed by many. Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Visiting at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Joe Alain. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Grosse Tete. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Betty Burgess Grissom; sons, John W. Grissom, Jr. and wife, Amy, Steven Clay Grissom, and Kent Burgess and wife, Tanya; two daughters, Kelly Brown and husband, Bill and Charlotte Morales and husband, Donny; and 10 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Garrett Grissom, Cheyenne and Jenna Grissom, Dallas, Gavin and Jadi Brown, Tracy and Josh Burgess and Ty Morales. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Grissom, Sr.; mother, Stella Grissom Ravencraft; stepfather, Henry Ravencraft; and a brother, Lawrence Grissom, Jr. John knew his dreams and fulfilled them. A retired elementary school teacher and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at St. Clare Manor. She was born Sept. 22, 1905, on Cinclare Plantation in West Baton Rouge Parish. A native of Monroe and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at the age of 89.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Delta Kerry; a brother, Rufus Kerry; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Nathan Kerry; and wife, Ruby Kerry.

A native of New Orleans, and a resident of Baton Rouge, for 15 months, he died after a brief illness on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002. He was 84. He was a graduate of Tulane University, a veteran of World War II and a rate engineer for South Central Bell for 43 years. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anne K. and Gregory M. Eaton of Baton Rouge; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Linda Kimble of Gwent, South Wales, United Kingdom; a brother and sister-in-law, William A. and Lynn F. Kimble of Pass Christian, Miss.; a cousin and her husband, Audrey R. and Leonard Lozano of New Orleans; and five grandchildren, Margaret, Elizabeth and Lewis "Lee" Eaton, all of Baton Rouge, and Sarah and Molly Kimble, both of Meridian, Miss.
