PATIN, AUDREY MOREL
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she died at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's. She was 86, a native of New Roads and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Miles Walsh. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by two sons, Roger V. Patin, Jr. and Samuel J. Patin; four daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Dean P. Roussel, Anne and Mike Robinson, Margaret and Dennis Peters and Denise and Johnny Gaines; six grandchildren, Ashley Robinson Knapps and husband, Devin, Micah Robinson, Bridget Roussel, Natalie Gaines, Jared Gaines and Eric Peters; three great-granddaughters, Peyton Knapps, Grace Knapps and Baileigh Hughes; and a sister, Florence Araiza, Mission, Texas. Preceded in death by her husband, Roger V. "Mike" Patin, Sr.; parents, William and Winnie Guerin Morel; two brothers, Eugene and Joseph William "Billy" Morel, Jr.; and a sister, Gertrude Jewell. She was a member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law and grandsons. Special thanks to Margarett Bradley for her care and comfort.

PATRICK, DOROTHY LEE ETHEREDGE
Dorothy Lee Etheredge Patrick, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, entered rest surrounded by her loved ones at her home on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at 6:21 p.m. after a courageous fight with bone cancer. She was 78, born Feb. 15, 1924, in Norwood. She was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, an enthusiastic gardener, lover of music and avid genealogist. Her body was donated to medical science. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at 2 p.m. in Aldrich Chapel, First United Methodist Church. Visitation in the chapel after 1 p.m. Saturday. Survived by her brother, James C. Etheredge, Jr., Sunnyvale, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Earl F. (Laura Elizabeth) Green, Jr., Hampton, Va.; two daughters, Mary Teresa "Tessie" Conn, Denham Springs, and Erin Leigh Patrick, Friendswood, Texas; two sons, Sean Keith Patrick, Warrenton, Va., and Christopher Welch Patrick, Denham Springs; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Laurie, Scott and Andrew Donaldson, Dallas LeBlanc, Kaitlyn Lyons, Ian Patrick, and Shannon, Joshua and Cheyenne Patrick; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, James Christopher Etheredge, Sr. and Mary Christine Smith Etheredge; and former husband, James Keith Patrick. She was a 1948 graduate of LSU, College of Arts and Sciences, with a BA degree in music history. She was a former faculty secretary and secretary to the dean of the LSU School of Music, former executive secretary to the president of Louisiana National Bank and to the Director of State Purchasing, and a retired word processing network specialist to the Office of the Governor, Division of Administration, Office of Planning and Budget. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, having joined in 1943, and a longtime member of the choir. She was a former corresponding secretary of the Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society and a member of Baton Rouge Genealogical and Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Choir Fund of First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.

PICKERING, JAMES "J.Z."
Retired from Pickering Bros. Construction Co. and a former employee of Ethyl Corp., he died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 77, a resident of Zachary and native of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Joe Hammack. Interment in Pickering Family Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Dorothy Davis Pickering of Zachary; mother, Lonnie Wilson Pickering of Zachary; a daughter, Barbara Pickering Moak of Shreveport; a son, Gregory Dewayne Pickering of Zachary; two grandchildren, Russell Wayne Moak and Julia Pickering Holmes, both of Zachary and two great-grandchildren, Ramzi Rochelle Holmes and Reanne Demaris Holmes. Preceded in death by his father, Alex Pickering; and three brothers, Alex, Jr., Dennis and Lloyd Pickering.

SCHARRENBERG, MARIE FLORESTINE "FLO"
Lord let me take each day as coming from you to give it back to you with your will complete. And, dear Lord, let me be kind. Let me never be discouraged because you stand beside me every day. A retired registered nurse and a resident and native of Grosse Tete, she died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at her home. She was 92. Visiting at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grosse Tete, from 9 a.m. Monday until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Shelton Fabre. Entombment in church mausoleum. Survived by a son, William "Bill" Scharrenberg, Jr. and wife, Mary, Los Altos Hills, Calif.; a niece who lovingly cared for her, Jelba Hoffman Glaser and husband, Jerry, Grosse Tete; three sisters, Lucy Toporowicz and Elsie Hoffman, both of Grosse Tete, and Heloise Bain of Texas; a brother, Anthony Douglas Steib, Grosse Tete; six grandchildren, Will and wife, Julie Scharrenberg, Eric and wife, Christina Scharrenberg, Mark and wife, Yvonne Scharrenberg, Matt and wife, Heidi Scharrenberg, Ann and husband, Greg Calcagno and Elizabeth Scharrenberg; 11 great-grandchildren, Michael, David, Robert, Katherine and Patrick Calcagno and Trent, Kelly, Monica, Luke, Rebecca and Lauren Scharrenberg. Preceded in death by her husband, William Reinhardt Scharrenberg; parents, Frank and Evela Lasserre Steib; a brother, Clifton "Type" Steib; and four sisters, Juanita Simpson, Natavia Scardino, Valerie Marie Steib and Carrie McCoy. Pallbearers will be Bill, Will, Mark, Matthew and Elizabeth Scharrenberg and Ann Calcagno. Honorary pallbearers are Brent Glaser and Patrick Glaser, Jr. Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, in charge of arrangements.

SILVIO, ROSIE CIACCIO GUARISCO (MRS. JOHN SILVIO)
A loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, she died at noon Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Denham Springs. She was 96, a resident of Denham Springs, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Oscar Crossing in Pointe Coupee Parish. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Cleo Milano, the Rev. Michael Miceli and the Rev. Huey Moak. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, "Tee" and Ron Rinker, Livingston, Marie and R.B. Maranto, Central, and Katherine and Marshall Gravatt, Angleton, Texas; four sons and daughters-in-law, Lucas and Jeanette Silvio, Baton Rouge, J.V. and Anna Silvio, Erwinville, John, Jr. and Faye Silvio, Baton Rouge, and Joe and Connie Silvio, Baton Rouge; two stepdaughters, Mary Guarisco and Nellie Watts; 24 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her first husband, John Silvio, Sr.; second husband, Charlie Guarisco; a son, Victor J. Silvio; parents, Lucca and Mary Ciaccio; three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Special thanks to Dr. Jed Morris, 3rd floor doctors and staff of Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City and staff and workers at Golden Age Nursing Home for the love and support given to Mrs. Rosie and her family.

SMITH, CARRIE DELAUNE
A resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City.
She was 87 and a native of Prairieville.
Graveside service in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., at 1 p.m. Monday.
Survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Taylor Clark.
Preceded in death by her husband, Neal K. Smith; four sisters and three brothers.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.
Greenoaks Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAMS, JR. JAMES REGINALD
Dr. James Reginald Williams, Jr., 52, of Longview, Texas, owner of La Promenade, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2002, in a Longview hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1950, to James, Sr. and Mary Lee Harleaux Williams in Plaquemine. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having retired as a master chief. He served as command interpreter and military liaison for both Naval Support Office La Maddalena and USS Orion to the host national municipal and religious authorities from 1982 to 1984. He was honorably discharged upon retirement after achieving the highest possible enlisted rank of master chief petty officer of the Navy after 22 years of service, including 14 duty stations worldwide. He was recognized by the U.S. and Italian governments as having been essential in the establishment of a forward-deployed nuclear submarine base in Sardegna, Italy. He earned 27 awards and service ribbons, including four Navy Commendation Medals. He was a former dean of student learning at Texas State Technical College, Marshall campus. While working full time, he earned a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in 1981, a master's degree from the University of Texas, and his doctorate from Texas A&M; University in 1996. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James, Sr. and Mary Lee Harleaux Williams; grandparents, uncles and aunts. He is survived by his wife, Rita Williams of Longview; a son, Marco Williams of Italy; brothers, Demitri Williams of New Orleans, and Vincent Corey Williams of Plaquemine; a sister, Marilyn Williams Thornton of Baton Rouge; sisters-in-law, Nena Azara and Lina Casula, both of Italy, and Robin Williams of New Orleans; brother-in-law, Piero Meloni of Italy; father-in-law, Giuseppe Meloni of Italy; extended family, Eric Ponson of Plaquemine, and Harold James of Jacksonville, Fla; six aunts, six nieces and three nephews; and a host of cousins, other family and friends. Recitation of the rosary at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Longview, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002. Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Gavin N. Vavarek, celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church before the rosary. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Services entrusted to Welch Funeral & Memorial Center, 4619 Judson Road, Longview.

ZIMPFER, PEGGY G.
A retired registered nurse and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was 73 and a native of Anson, Texas. She served in the U.S. Air Force. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by Bill Brewer. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by her mother, Hattie Gardner; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Mary Lynn Zimpfer; two grandchildren, Daniel and Autumn Zimpfer; a sister, Shirley Barber; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Zimpfer; and father, Paul T. Gardner. She was a member of Goodwood Boulevard Church of Christ.

DORÉ, MARY DEZ
Mary Dez Doré, née Kelone, a longtime resident of Alexandria, died in Houston on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the age of 86. She was a graduate of Touro Infirmary School of Nursing and retired as nursing supervisor at Pincrest State Hospital. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anna Margaret DeLaune and Patrick Delaune of Houston; sons and a daughter-in-law, Neil Doré, Jr. of Boston and James and Mercedes Doré of Plaquemine; grandchildren, Katherine DeLaune, Jennifer Daniels, Patrick DeLaune, Ann Mercedes Dooley, and Seámas and Logan Doré; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brandon Daniels and Parker DeLaune; and sisters, Lorene Hickcox of Shreveport and Nina Boyles of Birmingham, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hipolyte and Maude Cox Kelone; and sisters, Margaret Viger and Liane Jamison. Mary requested that her body be donated to Baylor School of Medicine. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America or a local hospice foundation.

BANGUEL, BEATRICE "BEA"
A resident of Zachary, she died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center.
She was 83 and a native of Ethel.
Visiting at Miller & Daughter Mortuary, Edward Green Chapel, Zachary, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
Religious service at the mortuary at 1 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. John C. Miller, Jr.
Interment in Public Cemetery.
Survived by four daughters, five sons, 30 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, two grandsons and a brother.
