ARBUCKLE, JR. JOHN "PUNKIN"
A retired U.S. Army staff sergeant and a resident of New Orleans, he died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at his sister's home in Baton Rouge. He was 60 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Religious service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Dondi Johnson. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, Deidra Arbuckle and LaShawn Arbuckle; 11 sisters, Patricia A. Jackson, Clara Lee Arbuckle, Elizabeth A. Brown, Glenda Wilson, Carolyn Johnson, Diane Servick, Janice Franklin, Linda Johnson, Arnetta Harris, Denise Guerin and Donna Semien; and three grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Ida H. Arbuckle; and Clifford and Arline Franklin, who helped raise him.

AVANTS, LUCILE HARELSON
A retired elementary school teacher and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at The Retirement Center. She was 87 and a native of Baton Rouge. Service will be private at her request, with interment in Harelson Family Cemetery. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Frances Avants Stringer and Judge Byron Stringer; grandson, Todd Stringer and wife, Gail Stringer; grandson, Troy M. Stringer; granddaughter, Dr. Traci Stringer Seibold and husband, Dr. Jimmy M. Seibold; granddaughter, Trudy Stringer Vanhoof and husband, Lt. Nathan K. Vanhoof, U.S. Air Force; a great-grandson, Tyler James Seibold; and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Marie Stringer. Preceded in death by her husband, Mack Avants; a daughter, Trudy L. Avants; father, Harrington Burgess Harelson; mother, Maybelle Benton Harelson; sisters, Evelyn Harelson Sharp and Elmira Harelson Harrison; and brothers, H.B. Harelson, Benton Harelson and Jack Harelson. She was a graduate of LSU, a member of Chi Omega sorority and a charter member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. In honor of the deceased, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice Foundation, 5215 Essen Lane, Suite 20, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.

BLANCHARD, NED PATRICK
A resident and native of Pierre Part, he died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 in Houma. He was 58. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, celebrated by the Rev. Clarence Waguespack. Entombment in church mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Emma Lee Theriot Blanchard of Pierre Part; mother, Martha Crochet Blanchard, Pierre Part; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Reggie and Tammy Blanchard, Donnie and Cheri Blanchard and Phil Blanchard, all of Pierre Part; four sisters, Hilda Daigle, Brusly St. Vincent, and Linda Boudreaux, Clara Clement and Elaine Schaff, all of Pierre Part; six brothers, Howard, Thomas, Tony, Russell, Whitney and Lonnie Blanchard, all of Pierre Part; two grandchildren, Cayla and Slade Blanchard; three step-grandchildren, Cody, Casey and Buddy Kern; and a great-grandchild, Cole Landry. Preceded in death by his father, Sevalien Blanchard; four brothers, Robert, Morris, Davis and Wilton Blanchard; and a sister, Isabell Blanchard.

BLOUNT, LILLIE PASSMAN
A native of Doyle, she died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.
She was 86 and a resident of Ponchatoula.
Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 9 a.m. Friday until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Stanley Day.
Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
Survived by a son, Huey Husser of Hammond; three grandchildren, Lori Husser, Shayna Smith and Mark Husser; and four great-grandchildren.

CAMPBELL, JAMES EDWARD
Born in Almont, Mich., and a resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at the age of 73. He was retired human resource manager for the Dow Chemical Co. He served two tours of duty in the Korean War, where he was highly decorated. He returned to the United States and earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Miami, followed by an MBA from Harvard University. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Beardsley Campbell; his parents, Bessie Darling Campbell and Russell Guy Campbell; and his brother, Richard Nelson Campbell. He is survived by his six daughters and two sons, including Carol Marie Campbell, Linda Gail Campbell, Diane Campbell Atashi, James Franklin Campbell, Russell Guy Campbell, Susan Campbell Samson, Jean Elizabeth Campbell and Patricia Ann Campbell; as well as 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Rosner; six brothers, Robert Campbell, Gerald Campbell, Gordon Campbell, George Campbell, Donald Campbell and Bruce Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Viewing and services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Imlay City, MI, 48444, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following. Jim will be interred next to his beloved wife at the Imlay Township Cemetery, North Fairgrounds Road, following Saturday's services.

DICKINSON, DONALD JEFFREY "JEFF"
A service technician with General Electric Co. with 25 years of service, he was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. A resident of Erwinville, he died at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 46 and a native of Morganza. Visiting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church parish hall, Lakeland, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Thursday. Religious service at the church at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Gregory Daigle. Entombment in Chenal Mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Patti Crochet Dickinson, Erwinville; mother, Gladys Dickinson, Morganza; two sons, Cody and Devin Dickinson, both of Erwinville; six brothers, O.J. Dickinson, Morganza, Michael Dickinson, Baton Rouge, Stuart Dickinson, Zachary, Virgus Dickinson, Denham Springs, Timothy Dickinson, Ventress, and Gregory Dickinson, New Roads; two godchildren, Shane Ramagos and Mikelle Dickinson; numerous nieces and nephews, many lifelong friends and a special little angel, Elizabeth St. Romain. Preceded in death by his father, Ourelee J. Dickinson; and a sister, Deborah LeBlanc. Pallbearers will be Cody and Devin Dickinson, Don Peter Ramagos, Raymond Jarreau, Murphy Oubre and Alan Crowe. Honorary pallbearers are his brothers. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, and Knights of Columbus Council 8878. Niland's Funeral Service, New Roads, in charge of arrangements.

DIMAGGIO, JEANETTE THAMES
A resident of Independence, she died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. She was 76 and a native of Lawrence County, Miss. Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Adrienne Spikes and the Rev. Ray Hudson. Interment in Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, Bobbie Costa, Independence, and Barbara Rogers, Tickfaw; three sons, Robert Thames and Lee R. Thames, both of Houston, and James Pat Thames of Independence; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her first husband, Jessie Thames; second husband, Philip DiMaggio; father, Robert Lee Hart; mother, Sarah Elizabeth Evans Hart; a grandson, Kenneth Ray Harrell, Jr.; and numerous brothers and sisters. She was a member of Little River Pentecostal Church in Tickfaw.

GILER, ULRICH "JOHNNY"
A retired construction manager at Ethyl Corp. and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Summit Hospital. He was a native of New Orleans. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his companion, Ruth King; two granddaughters, Dessiree Giler of Nyack, N.Y., and Heather Giler of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two sons, John Giler and wife, Gail of Pomona, N.Y., and Charles E. Giler of Hammond. Preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bell. He attended Goodwood Baptist Church and the Ethyl Manufacturing Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and worked at a Navy shipyard during World War II. His biggest interests were his wife of 52 years, Anna Bell, and his son, Charles Giler. He and his wife were founding members of the Hammond Developmental Center. He was also extremely devoted to his extended family.

GRAVOIS, JAMES JOSEPH "J.J."
A retired life insurance salesman for American General Life, he died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 88, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Hohen Solms. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon. Wednesday. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by a son, James E. Gravois and wife, Evelyn; a son-in-law, James M. Phillips; a brother, Lawrence Gravois; four grandchildren, James, Trey and Douglas Phillips and Sheri Gravois Stewart; and a great-grandchild, Ryan Phillips. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Brown Gravois; a daughter, Joyce G. Phillips; his parents and six brothers and sisters. Memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.

HEBERT, DELIA LANDRY MILLET
A resident of Gonzales, she died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 97 and a native of Ascension Parish. Visiting was at Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, celebrated by the Rev. Phil Spano. Interment in St. Theresa Cemetery. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin and Mamie Millet and Roland and Christine Millet, all of Gonzales; six grandchildren and spouses, Sidonia and Randy Sanford of Alabama, Wilton and Denise Millet and Roland, Jr. and Sandy Millet, all of Pierre Part, and Israel Millet, Sherran and Wayne Delatte and Gloria and Glenn Bourgeois, all of Gonzales; step-grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Debra Wunstel, Jimmy and Jeanette Wunstel, Jerry "Pete' and Paulette Wunstel and Delva Sue Westbrook, all of Gonzales; 26 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her first husband, Wilton J. Millet; her second husband, Armand Hebert; a son, Lawrence J. Millet; a granddaughter, Rhonda Millet; parents, Numa S. and Ophelia LeBlanc Landry; three brothers, Joseph S., Sr., Numa S., Jr. and Sidney I. Landry; and six sisters, Elia L. Shaddinger, Leona L. Young, Lillian L. Martine, Beatrice L. Mire, Vivian L. Diez Gonzales and Rita L. Graham. She was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 81 and the chaplain for many years.
