Retired from Piccadilly Cafeterias Inc. with 10 years of service, she went to be with the Lord at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Flannery Oaks Guest House. She was 83, a native of Bordelonville, and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home chapel, 9595 Florida Blvd., from noon until religious service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Tom Duhé. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna DeMars Hebert and Gene Hebert of Greenwell Springs; a son, Gardy DeMars of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Todd DeMars of Humble, Texas, Guy DeMars of the Ivory Coast of Africa, Gene Patrick Hebert, Jr. of Baton Rouge, and Helaine Hebert of Greenwell Springs; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Derrick and Erin DeMars and Collin Patrick Hebert; and a brother, Tunney Lemoine and his wife, Lois, of Bordelonville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Octave J. DeMars; second husband, Milton Batten; parents, Enos and Bertha Lemoine; and a brother, Sims Lemoine. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. BERGERON, CORA LEE PLAUCHE
A native of Plaucheville and a resident of Ventress, she died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home, New Roads. She was 86. "Miss Co" was a retired bookmobile clerk who worked for the Pointe Coupee Parish Library for 35 years. Her body will be donated to the Louisiana Bureau of Anatomical Services for medical instruction and research. A memorial mass will be conducted by the Rev. Greg Daigle, at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland. Survived by her two children, Alfred Bergeron and wife, Judy of Steilacoom, Wash., and Adele Olinde and husband, John M. of Ventress; grandchildren, Joe and Julie Bergeron of Oxford, Miss., Tara and Jack Mowreader of Puyallup, Wash., Kelli and Gerard LaCour, and Renee and Mark Daigrepont, both of Ventress; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Ashley Mowreader, John, Katie and Andrew LaCour and Anna and Emma Daigrepont. A loving husband, devoted father, former elected official, coach and huge sports fan, he died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at 1:55 a.m. He was 88 and a resident of Port Allen. He was a World War II veteran and retiree of the accounting division of Delta Southern Co. He served on the city council of Port Allen from 1945 to 1952. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary C. Bernard, Port Allen; a son, Jeffrey W. Bernard. Port Allen; a daughter, Jan L. Bernard, Baton Rouge; and a brother, Thomas L. Bernard, Port Allen. Visitation at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 402 S. Kirkland Drive (River Road), Brusly, from 11 a.m. until a funeral mass at 1 p.m. Wednesday. He will rest at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Leon T. A retired electrician and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at his home. He was 82 and a native of Lafayette. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. DANBURG, SR. DWIGHT STERLING
A retired physician and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at his residence. He was 88 and a native of Miller, S.D. Visiting at Trinity Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Scott Schmeiding. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay and Jimmy Watts; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Dwight S. Danburg, Jr. and Kathy Danburg; a brother, Deverne Danburg of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Hildegard Neu Danburg; parents, Deverne and Mary Nicholas Danburg; and a brother, Russell Danburg. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Greg, Mike and Jack Watts and Mark, Dan and Jay Danburg. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was retired from Greenwell Springs Tuberculosis Hospital. He graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1935 and the University of South Dakota Medical School with a Bachelor of Science degree in medicine in 1937, and then transferred to the University of Louisville Medical School and received his doctor of medicine degree in June 1939. He was married to Hildegard on June 11, 1939, and they moved to Seattle, where he did his internship. He joined the medical staff at Boeing Aircraft Co. and was there until 1945. In 1945, he joined the staff at Uncas-on-Thames Hospital in Norwich, Conn., where he completed his training in pulmonary diseases with special studies at Yale University Medical School. In September 1949, he was appointed superintendent and medical director of Greenwell Springs Tuberculosis Hospital, where he remained until he retired in November 1976. During his professional career, he was a consultant with Tulane Medical School, the Veterans Administration Hospital and Baton Rouge hospitals. He served on numerous committees with the state and national tuberculosis associations and held various offices with many professional organizations. FOIL, TOMMY L.
A retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant who served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and a resident of Prairieville, he died at 11 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at his residence with his family by his side. He is also survived by the joys of his heart, granddaughters Cameron and Carley Foil. Preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Louise Brumfield Foil; a brother, Causey Foil; and a sister, Mildred Simmons. He was a self-taught drummer who loved music, especially Country and Western. He also loved the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. He loved a good joke, in particular the laughter that followed. He also loved to cook, but most of all, he loved his family and friends. He was a former member of Evangeline United Methodist Church. His family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Baton Rouge General Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospice.
