Olevia Wilson Ross, a retired domestic worker, died Saturday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 77. Ms. Ross was born in Oneida and lived in New Orleans for the past 60 years. She was a member of New Mount Era Baptist Church, where she served as president of the Deaconess Board and served on the Usher Board. Survivors include three daughters, Marie Thompson, Shirley Wilson and Sylvia Jackson; a sister, Jessie Ponds; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Mount Era Baptist Church, 2519 S. Prieur St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. D.W. Ernest Skipper, a laborer, died Saturday of undetermined causes at Los Angeles County Hospital. He was 61. Mr. Skipper was born in New Orleans and lived in Los Angeles for the past 16 years. He attended Booker T. Washington High School. Survivors include a daughter, Troy Lynn Skipper Sledge of New Orleans; a brother, Herbert Bachus Jr. of New Orleans; a sister, Aline Bachus of New Orleans; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gaskin-Southall-Gordon & Gordon Mortuary, 1225 N. Rampart St. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park.

Robert Joseph Sahuque Jr., a retired employee of American Standard, died Monday at Doctors Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Sahuque was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 34 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 175 and the Ed Brauner Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a charter member of the New Orleans Track Club. He was a parishioner of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Robert J. Sahuque III; three daughters, Judith S. Ibarz, Amy S. Guerra and Michelle S. Forbes; two brothers, Paul Sahuque Sr. and John Sahuque Jr.; five sisters, Marie S. Dwyer, Rita S. Piefer, Louise S. Cunningham, Geraldine S. Blanke and JoAnn S. Gianoli; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. William C. "Bill" Murphy, a retired owner of a custom store-fixture fabrication shop, died Sept. 20 of complications from strokes and sepsis in Erlanger, Ky. He was 75. Mr. Murphy was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and lived most of his life in the New Orleans area and in Erlanger for three years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. In 1946-47 he was part of Operation Hijump, the organization of the Navy Antarctic Developments Project. Survivors include two daughters, Wendy Murphy and Karen Murphy Parenteau; three sons, William "Bill" Murphy Jr. and Thomas and Keith Murphy; four stepdaughters, Kathy Poche Scanlan, Terry Schellhaas, Wendy Schoen and Penny Johnson; five brothers, Richard, Jack, Harry, James and Larry Murphy; five sisters, Mary M. Cyr, Margaret M. Nardi, Patricia Corbin, Kay Marsh and Ruth Hoppe; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. at St. John Memorial Gardens in LaPlace.

Mary Ellen Weeks, a retired seamstress, died Monday of cancer at JoEllen Smith Convalescent Center. She was 69. Mrs. Weeks was born in Maben, Miss., and lived in Westwego for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Avondale and she worked for TG&Y; for seven years. Survivors include three sons, Donald, Richard and Matt Weeks; three daughters, Linda W. Miller, Shirley Zweifel and Rebecca Clark; a brother, Rodney Strickland; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at White Dove Fellowship Church, 3600 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey. Mr. Stroebel was born in Mobile, Ala., and lived in Chalmette for the past 48 years. He was a member of Sheet Metal Union Local II. Survivors include a son, John H. Benjamin Bearry Bowen, businessman and owner of Ursuline Guest House, died Wednesday of congestive heart failure at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 47. Mr. Bowen was born in Richton, Miss., and lived in New Orleans. He was a member of Richton United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and the Travelers Club Society. Survivors include his mother, Evelyn B. Bowen of Richton; a sister, Elizabeth O. Bowen of Bella Vista, Ark., and two brothers, Robert O. and William E. "Tater" Bowen, both of Richton. Nathan G. Beard, a retired lawyer, died Nov. 7 at his home. He was 95. Mr. Beard was born in Florida and lived in New Orleans for the past 55 years. He was a fellow of the Tulane Law School and established the Nathan G. and Charlotte H. Beard Learning Chance Fund to give financial assistance to students who have served in the armed forces. He was a former truck driver and salesman in Florida. He was a former Internal Revenue Service inspector in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. He was an in-house counsel for Exxon-Mobil Corp. until 1972, when he began a private practice. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy and Army Air Corps. Mr. Beard retired at the age of 87. He was a member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church. Survivors include nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be said Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be private.

He was a member of the St. Clement of Rome Men's Club for the past 32 years, the Metairie Pigeon Club, the Greater New Orleans Combine and the Knights of Columbus of New Orleans. Francis Allen Jolley, a retired design engineer for BellSouth, died Nov. 10 of a pulmonary embolism at Lifecare Hospital. He was 58. Mr. Jolley was born in Homestead, Fla., and lived in Metairie and LaPlace for the past 26 years. He worked for BellSouth for 30 years. He was a staff sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Survivors include a daughter, Karyn M. Jolley; two brothers, Robert and Henry E. Jolley Jr., both of Bossier City; and three sisters, Pam J. Smith, Candy J. Teeter and Kathie J. Tucker.
