HEBERT, LINDA KNAPP
She was a caretaker of the elderly in the Pointe Coupee Parish area and was also loved by many friends. She was a graduate of Poydras High School. A native and resident of Jarreau, she died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at University Hospital in New Orleans. She was 43. Visiting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lakeland, from 10:30 a.m. Tuesday until service at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Michael Schatzle. Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by her mother, Mary Jane Knapp, Jarreau; two sisters, Loretta Gremillion, Ventress, and Yvonne Merrell, Livonia; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Norris Knapp; two nephews, Chad St. Romain and Austin Merrell; two nieces, Crystal Merrell and Valerie Ingram; two great-nieces, Hannah and Megan St. Romain; a great-nephew, C.J. St. Romain; two uncles, Norris Ballard, Jr. and David Knapp; and an aunt, Dolores Fontenot. Preceded in death by her father, Valery Knapp; a sister, Brenda Knapp St. Romain; and paternal grandparents, William and Birdie Knapp. Pallbearers will be Joey Jarreau, James Blanchard, Danny Hebert, Danny Bueche, Glenn Knapp and Ricky Ballard. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Leonard and Chad St. Romain. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Niland's Funeral Service Inc., New Roads, in charge of arrangements.

HEROMAN, GLORIA THERESA
A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. Visitation at St. Joseph Cathedral from 1 p.m. Monday until Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m., celebrated by the Rev. Gerald F. Young. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harry B. Heroman, Sr. of Baton Rouge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane H. and Kent Gossett of Collegeville, Pa., and Laurie H. and Michael Casillas of Rockwall, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Harry B., Jr. and Mary Helen Heroman of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, Burk Heroman, III, David Heroman and wife, Lori, Chris Gossett, Katie Gossett, Brittany Duncan, Anna Gossett and Theresa Casillas; and two great-grandchildren, Christian Gossett and Macy Heroman. She was preceded in death by an infant son, David Michael Heroman; and her mother, Laura Rabenhorst Butterworth. Pallbearers will be Michael Casillas, Burk Heroman, III, David Heroman, Chris Gossett, Fred Heroman and Jack Heroman. Honorary pallbearers are Kent Gossett and Dr. Jed Morris. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and she attended LSU. The family would like to say "thank you" to a special caregiver, Emily Perry. Donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Heroman to St. Joseph Cathedral. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., in charge of arrangements.

HOLMES, MICHAEL RAY
Retired owner of Holmes Building Materials, a resident of Head of Island, born in Ponchatoula and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 65. Survived by a son and two daughters, John Michael and wife, Lisa Holmes of Baton Rouge, Vicki Holmes and partner Tracy Miller of Opelousas, and Shannon and husband, John Graham of Baton Rouge; a sister, Sandra Sheridan and husband, Donald of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Philip H. Holmes and Mavis R. Varnado; a brother, Philip H. Holmes, Jr.; and grandmother, Elma Varnado. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. David Womack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 9420 Lindale Ave., Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70815-4161.

JONES, GERALDINE J. "GERRI"
An employee of Baton Rouge General Medical Center and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at her home. She was 54. Visiting at New Light Baptist Church from 5 p.m. Tuesday until religious service at 8 p.m., conducted by the Rev. H.B. Williams. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by her husband, Louis Jones, Sr., Baton Rouge; four children, Tammy Johnson, Louis R. Jones, Jr., David and spouse Desarae Jones, Baton Rouge, and LaToya and spouse Gabe Bryant, Hawaii; a sister, Betty and spouse Alvin Jones, Baton Rouge; four brothers, Louis and spouse Mary Johnson, New Orleans, Charles and spouse Margie Johnson, Houston, Jeffery Johnson and James and spouse Janet Johnson, all of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a brother and four sisters. She was a sponsor at New Light Baptist Church and on the Junior Usher Board. Miller & Daughter Mortuary, Zachary, in charge of arrangements.

LANDRY, MARY LILLIAN UNDERWOOD
A resident of Denham Springs, she died at 9:53 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge. She was 85 and a native of Watson. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visitation in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Wybra J. Price, II. Burial in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Dunn, Denham Springs; a son, Kenneth Layne Landry, Denham Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Arthur Meinke, Watson; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Hewitt and Fern Underwood and Rembert Underwood, all of Denham Springs; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Underwood; six grandchildren, Ronnie "Rod" and Todd Courtney, Rhonda Young, Tiffany Dunn, and Kenneth and Michael Landry; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Curtis Landry; a sister, Gertrude Devall; and two brothers, James Z. and Scott Underwood. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Denham Springs.

MADDUX, BRADFORD BURNETT "BRAD"
A retired technician with Exxon Chemical and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at his residence. He was 50, a former longtime resident of Lafayette, Calif., and a native of Berkeley, Calif. Visiting at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 12954 Joor Road at Sullivan, from 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, until Requiem Mass at 6:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Gene Haddock and Vicar Tommy Dillon. Survived by his wife, Debbie Maddux, Baton Rouge; a brother and sister-in-law, John Carter and Cindy Maddux, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Owen and Linda Boothe, Baton Rouge; and three nieces, Michelle and Ashley Maddux, both of Pleasant Hill, and Rebecca Giacone, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his parents, John Charles and Marian Maddux. MARCHAND, JOHN D. "J.D."
Owner and operator of Marchand Exterminators and a resident of Plaquemine, he died at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 70, a native of Darrow and former longtime resident of Prairieville. He was U.S. Air Force veteran. Visiting was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from noon until religious service in the at 4 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. James Kinkead. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by a special companion, Ruth Bennett, Plaquemine; a daughter, Cindy James and husband, Clint, Prairieville; Ruth's two daughters, Susan Cummings and Judy Bennett, both of Bayou Pigeon; two sons, Kirk Marchand and wife, Kay, Bayou Pigeon, and Donald Marchand and wife, Missy, Maurepas; Ruth's son, Rusty Bennett and wife, Debbie, Zachary; two sisters, Beulah Legeaux, Metairie, and Beverly Bercegeay, Gonzales; two brothers, Dudley Marchand, Prairieville, and Willie Marchand, Greenwell Springs; nine grandchildren, Jami Decareaux and husband, R.J., Trisha Wilson, Matthew Marchand, Jennifer Wilson, Jason Marchand, Jaci Lessard, Clint James, Jr. and Ryan and Brandi Melancon; two great-grandchildren, Trey and Treston Decareaux; and Ruth's 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Marie "Nancy" Marchand; parents, Dudley and Estelle Frederick Marchand; and Ruth's son, Randy Bennett. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, VFW Post 3693, Baton Rouge Pest Control Association and Louisiana Pest Control Association.

MORGAN, JASON BEAU
Died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at Regional Medical Center, Memphis, Tenn.
He was 23.

PULLIAM, SEABORN WILSON "SEAB"
Seaborn Wilson Pulliam was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Roseland, to John N. Pulliam and Elizabeth Jenkins Pulliam and departed this life Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Baton Rouge. After being discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1941, he re-entered LSU and graduated in vocational agriculture in 1943. He taught at Dutchtown High School for a short time and then at Pride High School until the mid-1950s, after which he was a full-time cattle farmer for most of the rest of his working life. He had a way with animals that few people have. He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Mormon church, as long as his health permitted. He became a high priest under Bishop Bradford in the Denham Springs Ward. He is survived by five sisters, Levina Dake, Irma Watts and husband, Thurston Watts, Sr. and Johnnie Sullivan and husband, Frank Sullivan, Jr., all of Baton Rouge, Yvonnie Slaton and husband, Jimmy Slaton, Walker, and Audrey Browning, Texas City, Texas; a brother, Reggie Pulliam and wife, Jo Ann Pulliam, Zachary; an adopted son, James A. Sibley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Huey Pulliam. He donated his body to science. There will be a memorial service celebrating his life at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 25367 Riverton Ave., Denham Springs, conducted by Bishop Kenneth Thibodeaux. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Flannery Oaks Guest House Activities Program or a favorite charity. The family would like to thank everyone at Flannery Oaks Guest House, his doctors who cared for him during the last four to five years and his church leaders and members, especially Jimmy Bennet.

REDDING, CONRAD D.
A resident of Zachary, he died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Swedish Medical Center, Englewood, Colo. He was 73 and a native of South St. Paul, Minn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Visiting at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Baker, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Fred Youngs. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen Lucille Welch Redding, Zachary; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Keith Nicks, Hawaii; five sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Sandy Redding and David and Rosie Redding, all of Minnesota, Thomas Redding, Wyoming, and James and Debbie Redding and Robert and Debbie Redding, all of North Carolina; a brother, Orville Redding, Minnesota; three sisters, Marion Lindell, Colorado, Kathleen Robeck, Newport, Minn., and Jackie Palewicz, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Minnesota Chapter.

REDMAN, HORACE EDWARD "RED"
A loving husband and father and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. He was a native of Grand River, Iowa, and a retired research chemist with Ethyl Corp. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Esther Kettring "Ket" Redman; three sons, Conrad Redman, Jon Redman and wife, Joy and Dale Redman and wife, Kathleen, all of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Brian Redman, Erin Redman and Scott Redman, all of Baton Rouge, Gregory Redman, Atlanta, and Douglas Redman and wife, Rebecca, Jackson, Miss.; and a great-grandson, Douglas Redman, Jr. He was a member of University Presbyterian Church, Ethyl Management Club and a 50-year member of American Chemical Society. His favorite hobby was converting rough precious stones into jewelry, particularly opals. He was also a master carpenter and avid bowler. If desired, memorial gifts may be made to Mayo Clinic Alzheimer Research Center, 200 First St. S.W., Rochester, MN 55905. Memorial service will be held at a later date at University Presbyterian Church.
