JOHNSON, ALPHA KATHERINE WEBB "SAMMIE"

Services for Alpha Katherine "Sammie" Webb Johnson, 49, of Harrisonburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Harrisonburg. Burial will be in Harrisonburg Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville. Mrs. Johnson passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, near Harrisonburg, as a result of an automobile accident. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Hallye Lanuis Webb. She is survived by her husband, John F. Johnson of Harrisonburg; two sisters and their husbands, Sharon W. and Jerome Malek of San Antonio, and Elizabeth "Betty" W. and Bob Sanders of Osyka, Miss.; a third sister, Mary Webb of Harrisonburg; three children, Sarah Kathrine Casey of New Orleans, Nathaniel Hunter "Nat" Casey and Hallye Elizabeth Casey of Harrisonburg; two stepsons, Derek Johnson of Monroe and Kyle Johnson of Jonesville; an aunt, Mary Launis Underwood, Baton Rouge; and a special cousin, Paula LeBlanc of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by four nephews, two nieces, a great-nephew and a great-niece. Pallbearers will be Derek Johnson, James Johnson, George Johnson, Luther Hollaway, Derek Sanders and Jay Sanders. Honorary pallbearers are Leo Boothe, Ronnie Book, Randy Maxwell and Dee Brown, Jr.

JOHNSON, CLARENCE LYTTELTON "C.L."

A retired mechanic at Wax Lumber Co. and Joan of Arc, he died at 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Wilkinson County Nursing Center, Centreville, Miss. He was 93, a resident of Centreville, and a native and former resident of Woodville, Miss. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visiting at Berryhill Funeral Home, Woodville, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Religious service at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Brother Bernard Waites. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, Mary Camille J. Carunchio, Pensacola, Fla., and Martha Carol J. Roublau, Ocean Springs, Miss.; a son, Tillery Johnson, Woodville; a sister, Earline Reeves, Crosby, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Kate Shenk and Tommy and Carol Johnson. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Craddock and Pearl Cavin Johnson; a brother, Claude Johnson; a sister, Wanzie Longmire; and wife, Erma Stutzman Johnson. Pallbearers will be friends and relatives of the family. The family requests memorial donations be made to Wilkinson County Christian Academy or Wilkinson County Museum.

JONES, FRANCES TOWNE "POLLY" (MRS. LAEL S. JONES)

A resident of Zachary and a native of Delta, she passed away at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at her daughter's home. She was 77. Graveside service in Greenoaks Memorial Park at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, conducted by the Rev. Brady Foreman. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cary J. and Lyman Watson, Zachary; a sister, Marie Louise King, Rayville; and a granddaughter, Cary Mittye Watson, Houston. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, the Rev. Lael S. Jones; parents, Ezra Bland Towne, Sr. and Cary Nell Moody Towne; and three brothers, E.B., Jr., William and Wyley Towne. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Pride. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 15109, Station B, New Orleans, LA 70175. Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., in charge of arrangements.

LeBLANC, LINDA LEMMON

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, for Linda Lemmon LeBlanc, 46, who died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002. The Rev. Jay Miller, pastor of Word of Faith Church, will conduct the funeral service. Interment will be in Lafayette Protestant Cemetery. Ms. LeBlanc, the daughter of the late Edmund Thomas Lemmon, who was of Patterson, and the former Betty Elberson of New Orleans, was a native of New Iberia. She was employed with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a research assistant. Survivors include her mother, Betty E. Lemmon of Lafayette; two sons, Daniel LeBlanc and Marc LeBlanc, both of Lafayette; a sister, Karen L. Fogleman of Lafayette; and two brothers, Karl Lemmon of Lafayette and Louis Lemmon of Florisant, Colo. Pallbearers will be Brian Lemmon, Julian Spring, John Fogleman, Tom Pesacreta, Steve LeBlanc and William Theall. Visiting will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until religious service.

LEE, RONALD

A retired truck driver and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died of cardiac arrest at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 50 and a native of Natchez, Miss. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Daniel Smith of Greater King David Baptist Church. Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Josie Ann Thomas Lee; three daughters, Malinda A. Henry of Alexandria and Jessie Ann and Janice Thomas, both of Baton Rouge; three sons, Ronald J. Ellis and Leon and Leron Thomas, all of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Vernestine and Helen Jean Lee, both of Natchez; three brothers, Robert Lee, Jr. and Lester Lee, both of Natchez, and Johnnie Lee of Chicago; mother-in-law, Jossie H. White of Lettsworth; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Sr. and Annie Boone Lee; two brothers, Donald Lee and Bobby Lee; and a nephew, Otis Lee. Pallbearers will be James Green, Joe Green, Jr., George Henry, Jr., Leonard Honore, Jr., Clarence Keys, Ronnie Payne, Timothy Robins and Wayne Robins, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Ronald J. Ellis, Leon Thomas, Leron Thomas, Robert Lee, Jr., Lester Lee, Johnnie Lee, Robert G. Lee, Shebby Lee, Willie L. Honore, Roosevelt Green, Michael Green, Donald Green, Sr., Warren Thomas and Mack McKinley Lee.

MILLER, LOUIS A.

Died at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his residence near Loranger. He was 70 and a native of St. Helena Parish. Visiting at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Elder Marshall Wallace. Interment in Ford Cemetery, Independence. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Miller, Loranger; four sons, David Allen Miller, Ronnie Miller and Kenny Miller, all of Loranger and Nolan Miller, Amite; a daughter, Donna Lynn Miller, Roseland; and a brother, Charles A. Miller, Hillsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

MILLER, SR. WILTON "WOFF"

At 3 a.m. Saturday Aug. 31, 2002, at his home, Wilton "Woff" Miller, Sr. was called to a sweet and glorious rest. He was 68, a carpenter, a resident of Donaldsonville and a native of Welcome. Visiting at Demby & Son Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at Mount Triumph Baptist Church, 206 W. 10th St., Donaldsonville, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Carnell Joseph. Interment in church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Carrie S. Miller, and their son, Derrick Miller, both of Donaldsonville; his former wife, Rose M. Miller, and their children, Geneviere Butler, Laverne Miller, Karen Ann Butler and Carol Joseph, all of St. James, Wilton Miller, Jr., Marrero, Michael and Craig Miller, both of Harvey, Kyle David Miller of Destrehan, Donald Miller of St. James and Andre Miller of Labadieville; a stepson, Anthony Nicholas of Donaldsonville; seven sisters, Rose Winslow, Lucille Miller, Louise Davis, Luciender Gatlin, Geneva McPherson, Viola Jeffery and Elenora Clark; three brothers, James, Arthur and Walter Miller; 16 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred, Jr. and Viola Bryant Miller.

NORMAND, CLIFFORD J.

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he died Monday morning, Sept. 2, 2002, at his residence at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. He was 91, a native of Echo and a resident of Baton Rouge since 1917. Clifford was a member of the first graduating class of the newly-named Catholic High School, Class of 1929. He retired from Exxon Co. USA in 1974 after 44 years of service. He was a member of AARP and a volunteer income tax preparer for several years. He had been a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church since 1957. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 1 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Davis Normand and Viola Dupuy Normand Fowler Mains. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Agnes Lindsly Normand; a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Lynda Normand of Milford, Ohio; five grandchildren and their spouses, David and Susie Normand of St. Amant, Dianne and Smith Hartley of New York City, Melissa and Roy Delaney of Spotsylvania, Va., Laura and Travis Holifield of Petal, Miss., and Holly Normand of New York City; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law and caretaker, Ann Hannaman.

O'DONNELL, MARGARET HOLLEY

A retired buyer with Rosenfield's in Baton Rouge, for many years and a buyer at The Palace in Monroe, she died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 72. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Deacon Pete Schlette of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Denham Springs. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Stan and Reggie Holley of Baton Rouge, Jack O'Donnell, Jr. of Monroe, Debra Holley Threeton of Baton Rouge and Mary Margaret O'Donnell of Memphis, Tenn. Also survived by three sisters, Mae Sharpe and Louise Anselmo of Baton Rouge and Winnie Lee Smith of Houston; and three brothers, Cecil Bennett of Watson, Joel Bennett of Denham Springs and James Hardy Bennett of Brusly. Preceded in death by parents, Frank Oliver Bennett, Sr. and Cornelia Picard Bennett; and a brother, Frank Oliver Bennett, Jr. Pallbearers will be John Harrington, Keith and Danny Bennett and her three brothers. Honorary pallbearer is Ronnie Simoneaux.

PIERCE, JR. ALTON CLAY

A retired attorney and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at his farm in Rankin County, Miss. He was 62 and a native of Waxahachie, Texas. A graduate of University High School and LSU, he received his juris doctor degree from LSU Law School in 1968. He served as second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of The Chapel on the Campus, Sigma Chi fraternity and Mississippi Forestry Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Clay Pierce and Mary Elizabeth Thames Pierce. He is survived by two sons, Alton Clay Pierce, III and wife, Heather Pierce, Birmingham, Ala., and Ellis Clements Pierce, Baton Rouge; a sister, Caroline Pierce Williams and husband, J.D. Williams, Pensacola, Fla.; an aunt, LaNelle Thames Schimpf, Collins, Miss.; and a grandson, William Clay Pierce, Birmingham. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from noon Tuesday until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Donald Tabb. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. REECH, LACOUR JOHN "BUD" "MR. JOHN"

A resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 77, born in Simmesport, on Aug. 14, 1925. He was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II European and Asiatic Pacific theaters and of the Korean conflict. His parents, Ruby and Nolan Reech, a brother, Nolan J. Reech and his first wife, Idell Faye Reech, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Traigle Possa Reech; a sister, Joy Gautreau; a brother, E. Ray Reech; children, Johnny Ray Reech, Cynthia Savage, Stephen C. Reech, Stephanie M. Reech, Brian K. Reech, Annie Possa, Charles Possa, III and Joseph Charles Possa; and 14 grandchildren. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 2250 Main St., at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Michael Jung. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
