BARTHOLOMEW, BRANDON NICHOLAS "NICK"

Died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in Thibodaux. He was 31 and a native and resident of Vacherie. Visiting at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, south Vacherie, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Henry Gautreau. Burial in church cemetery. Survived by his parents, Nelson and Cheryl Batiste Bartholomew of Vacherie; a brother, Keenan Desean Bartholomew; maternal grandmother, Equator Williams Batiste; paternal grandmother, Viola Lewis; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Albert Batiste; and paternal grandfather, Joseph Bartholomew. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Gulf War. Williams & Southall Funeral Home, Thibodaux, in charge of arrangements.

BENTON, AMEY HOLDEN

Died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at her residence in Baton Rouge.

BULLOCK, GANELLE SIURUA

Director of corporate relations of the LSU Agricultural Center, she died at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was 62, a native of Moss Point, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge for more than 53 years. She is survived by her sister, Linda S. Wilson, Steubenville, Ohio; three sons, David Edward Bullock, Jr., Baton Rouge, Lance Everett Bullock and his wife, Sharon Farmer Bullock, Baton Rouge and Jason Edwin Bullock, San Francisco; a daughter, D'Ann Priakos and her husband, Bill Priakos, Dallas; and five grandchildren, Rachel and Ashley Bullock, William and Ainsley Priakos and Kathryn Grace Bullock. Visiting at University Baptist Church from 8 a.m. Thursday until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. George A. Haile. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William B. Richardson, L.J. Guedry, R. Larry Rogers, Jack L. Bagent, Ken Tipton and Cary F. Owen. Honorary pallbearers are H. Rouse Caffey and Doyle Chambers. She was a graduate of the LSU School of Human Ecology, a member of University Baptist Church, an associate member of the LSU Foundation, treasurer of the LSU College of Agriculture Alumni Association, member of the Gamma Sigma Delta Honorary Agriculture Society, past vice president of communications of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Council for Advancement of Science and Education, the National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association Inc., the board of directors for the Leave of Legacy of Baton Rouge, the LSU Foundation Prospect Research Committee, the LSU Foundation, LSU Donor Management Software Taskforce and the LSU Alumni Association, and she was a notary public for the state of Louisiana. She received the LSU Staff Outstanding Service award in 1981 and 1996, and was the LSU School of Human Ecology Alumnus of the Year 1998 and the LSU College of Agriculture Alumnus of the Year 2001. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Ganelle Bullock Outstanding Staff Award, LSU Agricultural Center, P.O. Box 25203, Baton Rouge, LA 70894-5230, payable to the LSU Foundation.

COLE, BETTY DEAN

An employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, she died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at her residence. She was 57 and a native of Baton Rouge. She attended Scotlandville High School and was a graduate of Southern University with a degree in education. She was born to Anese and Charlie Cole, who preceded her in death; and she was also preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Cole. She is survived by her two children, Shavonné A. Cole, and Sgt. Giovanno M. Cole of El Paso, Texas; four grandchildren; six sisters, Lillie, Irma, Juliette, Sandra, Janice and Caroline; four brothers, Aarington, Gerald, Glynn and Kerald; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was a loving and much-loved person by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Little Zion Baptist Church, 1955 74th Ave. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to Shavonné Cole. DAVIS, DALE STEVEN

Service for Dale Steven Davis will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, in the chapel of Kramer Funeral Home in Colfax. Friends are asked to call from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. Interment in Colfax Cemetery. He was 35 and a resident of French Settlement. He died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in Kings Daughters Hospital, Greenville, Miss. He was a member of the Sons of the American Veterans Post 7. He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Davis of French Settlement; a daughter, Rebecca Davis of Mountain Home, Ark.; father, Bob Davis of Alexandria; stepmother, Wilsie Smith Davis of Alexandria; mother, Barbara Ann McKenith of Alexandria; stepfather, David McKenith of Alexandria; a brother, Wayne Scott Davis of Winder, Ga.; a sister, Michelle McKenith of Alexandria; a stepson, Shawn Patrick Hendricks of Baton Rouge; two stepdaughters, Yvonne Hendricks of French Settlement and Lorrie Ann Daly of Thibodeaux; and 12 step-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Carl Shanks, Shawn Hendricks, Robbie Cauthron, Kenny Picot, Mark Purkhiser and Brian Purkhiser.

DOUCET, CRAIG ANTHONY

A deputy sheriff with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office Work Release Center and a resident of Port Allen, he died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Tanner Medical Center, Georgia. He was 36 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, with recitation of the rosary at 8:30 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, celebrated by the Rev. Henry Vavasseur. Interment in Chenal Cemetery. Survived by his mother, Mary Paula Denecola Doucet, Erwinville; paternal grandmother, Ada Doucet, Port Allen; a son, Christopher Anthony Doucet, Erwinville; three sisters, Annette and spouse Clark Sharpe, Donna Doucet, brother-in-law, Bryan Romano, and Charlotte Doucet, all of Erwinville; a niece, Haleigh Gaffney; two nephews, Phillip Romano and Devin Doucet, his godson; friends, Stacie Brown and her son, Jarred Brown, both of Baton Rouge, and Stephanie Howard and Naomi Gesch. Preceded in death by his father, Austin Joseph Doucet; paternal grandfather, Leonce Doucet; and maternal grandparents, Bertha and Philip Denecola. Pallbearers will be Richard Martinez, Paul Gentile, Jr., Kevin Gentile, Bryan Romano, Emmit Lundberg and James "Dewey" Lindsey.

ELROD, E. JEANNINE

A real estate agent for Holden Realtors and a resident of Walker, she died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in New Orleans. She was 73 and a native of Dallas. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation at Judson Baptist Church, Walker, from noon until religious service at 1 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Merelin McCon. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Jim Reese, Baton Rouge, Laura and Todd Templet, Baker, and Beth and Rodney Pickering, Baton Rouge; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Carol Elrod, Baton Rouge, and Andrew Elrod and Benjamin Elrod, both of Walker; a sister, Patricia Pettit, Dallas; a brother, Ben Pettit, Austin, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Edward Elrod; parents, Ben and Iva Cunningham Pettit; a grandson, Sam Mayeux; a son, Kenneth Elrod; and a sister, Gloria Spruill. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church in Walker. She was on the Livingston Parish Board of Realtors for many years and a Sunday school teacher at Parkview, Stevendale and Judson Baptist churches for many years. ESTEB, MARTHA LEE LIVINGSTON

A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and faithful friend, she died at her residence in Baton Rouge at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002. She was 84, born Sept. 5, 1917. She is survived by her son, Ernest Neil Esteb, Jr. of Baton Rouge; her daughter, Kathleen L. Esteb of Baton Rouge; a brother, Robert Livingston of Zachary; a sister, Helen England of Morganton, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Livingston of Zachary; a brother-in-law, Harlan England of Morganton; two grandsons, Anthony L. Townsend and Jefferey C. Townsend, both of Baton Rouge; a daughter-in-law, Laura Townsend of Baton Rouge; and nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She attended the Zoar Baptist Church ceramics group for many years and felt much love for all the ladies in the class. She will remain forever in our hearts. What she has done for others will live on to bless her memory. We loved her and we will miss her. A memorial service is planned for a later date. A special thank you to Martha Webb and Vickie Berquist of Hospice of Greater Baton Rouge for their loving care, concern and words of comfort. GREEN, SR. CHARLES MURRAY "CHARLIE"

Born Dec. 29, 1933, in Ferriday, he died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in Tulsa, Okla. He was 68. Preceded in death by his son, Robert Green; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Green; grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Ben Green and Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Lowe; three brothers, Dr. Ben Green, James R. Green and Joseph Harding Green; and two sisters, Patsy Green and Marion Love. Survived by his children, Charles Murray Green, Jr., Tracy Hodges, Candy Tackett, Molly Green and Cameron Green; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Green; sons-in-law, Wesley Hodges and Bob Tackett; grandchildren, Colt, Morgan, Joshua and Nicole Hodges, Amanda and Victor Tackett and Brad and Corey Green; a brother, Jack Green; three sisters, Louise Green, Margaret Oatley and Connie McDonough; a sister-in-law, Elaine Green; and brothers-in-law, Donald H. Oatley and Bill McDonough. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Pilgrim Rock Masonic Lodge 522, Tulsa, The Tulsa Scottish Rite, Akadar Shriners and Royal Order of Jesters. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1956 and was stationed on the USS Iowa. He attended Northwestern State University, Natchitoches. Visitation at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, from 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews and the Rev. Van Stinson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Dr. Ben Green Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Concordia Bank and Trust, Ferriday, LA 71334, The Shriners Crippled Children's Fund or The Methodist Children's Home.

GREEN, SEDDRICK DION "BIG DOG"

An employee of the Louisiana War Veterans Home, he died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 23 and a native and resident of Jackson. Visiting at Richardson Funeral Home, Clinton, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Religious services at the funeral home at noon Thursday, conducted by Elder Richard London. Interment in Jackson Cemetery. Survived by his parents, Shirley Major and Wilbert Green, both of Jackson; a son, Seddrick P. Green of Jackson; two sisters; three brothers; and his grandmother, Josephine Green of Jackson.

HOWARD, SR. ARTHUR

A retired mechanic and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 78 and a native of Opelousas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal. Visiting at Greater King David Baptist Church, 222 Blount Road, from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Daniel Smith and the Rev. Prentiss Mars. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by four daughters, Carol Dee Kimble, Mary Jane Howard, Josephine Howard-Decuir and husband, Richard Lee Decuir, and Allison Marie Barnes and husband, Kevin C. Barnes; two daughters-in-law, Edrene and Tammy Howard; four sons, Arthur Howard, Jr., Darrell Scott and wife, Betty, Ronnie E. Howard and wife, Sylvia, and Joseph Howard and wife, Tress; three sisters, Erma Cavitt, Bonnie Hegger and Alidine Higgins, all of Houston; a brother, Cellepa Howard of Los Angeles; 41 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Helen Howard; three sons, Earnest and David Howard and Warren Scott; a daughter, Ella H. Baldwin; a sister and two brothers. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Howard, Darrell Scott, Ronnie Howard, II, Kevin Barnes, Wesley Legarde, Richard Lee Decuir, Sr., Richard Lee Decuir, Jr. and Earnest Howard, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Howard, Jr., Joseph Howard, Cleveland Williams, Ivory Williams, Brady Williams and Matthew Clark. Winnfield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
