A resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Visiting was at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Ted Wells. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by her husband, John Hunter; her parents, Calvin and LaDonice Wells; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shasta Morales, Kendra and Cody Barnett and Kellie and Delery Matherne; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Tim Kuylen, Dee Dee and Lonnie Tarver and Stacy and Joe Dial; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George and Myrtle Wells; maternal grandparents, Reamey & Ophelia Zachary; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Doris Hunter. Pallbearers will be Cody Barnett, Delery Matherne, Lonnie Tarver, Tim Kuylen, Joe Dial and Greg Stanek.

JONES, JOHNNY LAMOTTE

A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Earl K. Long Medical Center. He was 19. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Religious service at St. Mary Baptist Church, 1252 N. Acadian Thruway E., at 10 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Conway Knighten. Interment in Rosehill Cemetery, Walls. Survived by his mother, Renee Lamotte; father, Vernon J. Jones I; a son, Terrell Deon Jones; three sisters, Shayla Jones, Rosalyn Derrick and Kisha Sanders; two brothers, Vernon J. Jones, II and Michael Jones, Sr.; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Atlean and Joseph Jones; maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Johnny Lamotte; an uncle, Willie Jones; an aunt, Josie Dixon; and two cousins.

KELLEY, GLADYS OVERMIER MISKEL

A native and resident of Loranger, she died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, Independence. She was 76. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Emile Tosso. Interment in Loranger Community Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, Nancy Lee, Hammond, and Vicki Bennett, Robert; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Overmier, Robert. Preceded in death by first husband, Robert Louis Miskel; second husband, Leonard Thomas Kelley; a sister, Annabelle Buchanan; two brothers, Gary and Carl Overmier; and parents, Glide and Nancy Rogers Overmier. Mrs. Kelley was a member of Loranger Methodist Church and Busy Bee Homemakers Association. She retired from BellSouth, having served as an operator, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and CWA Union.

KERTACY, JR. GABRIEL CURTIS "CURT"

Born March 2, 1930, he died at 11:05 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 72, a native of Belleville, N.J., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a United States Navy veteran and a retired automobile salesman with Robinson Bros. Lincoln-Mercury. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Moore. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Freddie Stone Kertacy; a daughter, Donna Kertacy Williams, Baton Rouge; a son, Patrick O. "Pat" Kertacy, and a special granddaughter, Kathryn Theresa "Katie" Williams. He is also survived by one sister, Betty Mahoney of Arlington, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel, Sr. and Vera Kertacy; and a son, Daniel Joseph "Danny" Kertacy. Pallbearers will be Keith Langneintz, Lynwood Smith, Don Waldon, Warren Holden, Gus Richard and Jason Davis. Honorary pallbearer is George M. Knox. Special thanks to Dr. Harold Brandt, Dr. Georgia A. Reine and the fourth floor staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. KORNBACHER, MARVA YVONNE

Employed by the state of Louisiana in the Office of Family Support, she died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002. She was 49 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Religious service at Hall's Mortuary, Port Allen, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Charles Handy. Survived by her husband, Edward Kornbacher; mother, Ruby Lee O'Connor; a son, Troy Patrick Brown; two sisters, Mary Burns, Baker, and Lucille Williams, Zachary; two brothers, Robert Brown, Jr. and Paul Kevin Brown, both of Baton Rouge; and a grandchild, Rochelle Jasmine Brown. Preceded in death by her father, Robert Brown, Sr.

LANDRY, ROBERTA HEBERT

A retired postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 93, a former resident of Mathews and a native of West Baton Rouge Parish. Visiting at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Brusly, from noon until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Wednesday, celebrated by the Rev. Eric V. Gyan. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by a sister, Rome Hebert Donnelly; a number of maternal and paternal cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Louis Joseph Landry, who was of Brusly; parents, Elmore Joseph Hebert and Althea Rome Hebert; and a brother, Elmore Louis Hebert. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. Clare Manor for their compassionate care. Memorial donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor or St. Vincent de Paul pharmacy. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., in charge of arrangements.

MARTIN, LYDIA JOINER "CHRISTY"

A resident of Baton Rouge, she died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 71 and a native of Hammond. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Martin, the Rev. Merlin Liverman and the Rev. Maurice Brandel. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by her husband, Dalton V. Martin, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Fortenberry; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. John and Ashley Martin; two sisters, Joyce J. Crandall and spouse Ned, and Marie J. Mayo; a brother, Howell L. Joiner; and two grandchildren, Erin and Tristan. Preceded in death by her parents, Verna J. and Charles B. Joiner; a son, Paul Bradley Martin; and two brothers, Charles W. and Ronald E. Joiner. She was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and received a master's degree from Tulane University.

McCRAY, CHRISTINE JACKSON FISHER

A resident of Baton Rouge, she died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 73 and a native of Zachary. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Religious service at New Hope Baptist Church, 5856 Greenwell Springs Road, at 7 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Leo D. Cyrus. Dismissal at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial in Winnfield Memorial Park. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Jackson Terry and Burris Terry; two devoted nieces, whom she reared as her own, Earnestine Mack and Mamie Mitchell, both of Baton Rouge; four stepdaughters, Brenda Fisher, Glenda Dent, Linda Fisher and Sonja Fisher, all of Baton Rouge; four stepsons, Augustus Fisher, Jr. and Jerome Fisher, both of Baton Rouge, Tyrone Fisher and Verdell Fisher, both of Decatur, Ga.; three sisters, Corine Green, Fertina McCray and Justine McCray, all of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Lawrence McCray, Zachary, and Alfred McCray, Baton Rouge; a brother-in-law, Tom Butler, Zachary; 17 grandchildren, including two devoted grandchildren, Detra S. Terry and Gregory R. Mitchell; 14 great-grandchildren, two godsons and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Augustus Fisher, Sr.; six sisters, four brothers and a great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be William Bemmer, Augustus Fisher, Jr., Alphonse Hargrove, Alvin Mitchell, Efren Mitchell, Gregory Mitchell and Shedrick Triplett. McGEE, KEN MAYNARD

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who had great joy and love of family and woodworking. He was a retired pulp mill superintendent at Georgia Pacific Corp. with 421/2 years of service. He left this world on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at the age of 68 years, to join the master carpenter. Friends and family are invited to visit at the family residence. Visiting at Plains Presbyterian Church, Zachary, from 9 a.m. Thursday until religious service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Woody Markert officiating. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marie Gremillion McGee of Zachary; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julia McGee and Mark Stern and Rita McGee and Steve Jackson, all of Zachary, and Kimberly McGee and Craig Chauppette of Slidell; a son and daughter-in-law, Ken, Jr. and Susan McGee of Napoleonville; three stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Donna DeMetz and Iris Alleman of Pierre Part, Jennifer DeMetz and Alirio Zambrano of Lake Charles, and Sheryl DeMetz and Richard "Chip" Moore of Zachary; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Harold Joseph and Kimberly DeMetz of Long Beach, Miss.; grandchildren, Clay, Brad and Cody Jackson and Joseph and Matthew Stern, all of Zachary, Ken McGee, III of Napoleonville, Scott Kiger, Jr., Ashleigh and Brianne Chauppette, all of Slidell, Claire, Jarrod and Madeline Alleman, all of Pierre Part, Gabriela, Alexandra and Vanessa Zambrano, all of Lake Charles, Margot, Mac and Zachary Moore, all of Zachary, and Nicholas and Katie DeMetz, both of Long Beach; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ernest Maynard, Jr. and Alberta McGee of Leland, N.C., and James Ernest McGee of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two sisters, Margaret Walden of Pensacola, Fla., and Joree Starratt of Jacksonville. Preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Laurette Moore McGee; and parents, Ernest Maynard McGee and Ada Pauline Stanley Arnold. Pallbearers will be his sons and sons-in-law. Died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Kentwood Manor Nursing Home, Kentwood. She was 87, a native of Pike County, Miss., and a resident of Kentwood. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday. Religious service at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. John Henry and the Rev. Jerry Dye. Interment in East Fork Cemetery, East Fork. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy M. and Charles M. Preceded in death by her husband, I.M. McGehee; a sister, Pansy Blades; and three brothers, Clifton, Gilbert and Karl Fotenberry.

MORROW, JEANETTE GREMILLION "NANNIE"

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she died Saturday morning, Aug. 24, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was 86, a native of Marksville and resided in Alexandria for many years. She shared the gift of life with many through her living example of love, concern for others, compassion, unselfishness, courage and faith. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Doyle Malone; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Priscilla Morrow; six grandchildren, Kelli and husband, David Merriman, Jeremy Morrow, Barry Todd, Brandi and Brett Malone and Nancy Malone and fiance Brian Gautreau; a great-grandchild, Hayley Kyrin Merriman; two nieces, Ruby Jean Smith and Rosemary Adams; and a nephew, Alfred Ray Gremillion. Preceded in death by her husband, Russell A. Morrow; a brother, Cilton Gremillion; mother, Leona "Yum" Bonnett Gremillion; and father, William "Yum" Gremillion. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Morrow, Brett Malone, Barry Todd Malone, Brian Gautreau, Alfred Ray Gremillion and Marvin Adams, Jr. Visiting was at Hixson Funeral Home, Marksville, for family from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and a public visitation from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
