Michael Jones was born on Dec. 24, 1960, in New Orleans, to the parentage of Sidney Jones, Sr. and Alma Rebecca Williams Jones. He was the fourth of six siblings. Michael departed this life on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Michael was baptized by the Rev. Dr. Robert Brown at the First Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Sunshine. Michael was self-employed and utilized his mechanical skills. He was 41 and a native and resident of Sunshine. Visiting at Desselle Funeral Home, 263 Eddie Robinson, Sr. Drive, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Religious services at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Bayou Paul Lane, Sunshine, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Alfred Thomas. Dismissal at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment in church cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted father, Sidney Jones; three sisters, Bernadine J. York and husband, Cleveland, Jacqueline J. Ausbon and Pamela R. Wade and husband, Corey; two brothers, Rickey Jones, Sunshine, and Larry Jones and wife, Adriane, Baker; two uncles, Albert Jones, Baton Rouge, and Roger Jones, Chicago; godmother, Linda Smith; godfather, Mayor George L. Grace, Sr.; six nieces, four nephews, a great-nephew and a host of aunts, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma W. Jones; a brother, Sidney Jones, Jr.; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
KENDRICK, HAROLD DALTON
A veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during World War II and a retired foreman at Ethyl Corp. with 38 years of service, he passed away at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 78 and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School and attended LSU. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and grandfather, with the highest degree of honesty and integrity. A resident of Paulina, she died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002, at Riverlands Health Care Center. She was 99, born Feb. 26, 1903, in Grand Pointe. Survived by a son, Owen Francis Laiche, Paulina; five daughters, Anna Jane L. Mizell and Ida Rae L. Jowers, both of Baton Rouge, Lorraine L. Trahan, Houma, Patricia L. Lasseigne, St. James, and Mary Leola L. St. Pierre, Lutcher; two brothers, Wilton Schexnayder, Gramercy, and Warren Schexnayder, Houma; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Leopold J. Laiche; parents, Louis and Marguerite Louque Schexnayder; a daughter, Marjorie L. Giroir; six brothers, Anicet, Wilfred, Didier, Alley, Marc and Laurel Schexnayder; and a sister, Ida S. Vicknair. She was a member of St. Joseph Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Joseph 1642. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services. The loving wife of Elvin LeBlanc and a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she died the morning of Sunday, June 16, 2002, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was 80. She kept the family together with the wonderful meals she lovingly prepared on Sunday mornings and she will be greatly missed.

A resident and native of Port Allen, he died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was 19. MOORE, MAGGIE BELLE
Rainbows appear where sunshine meets rain; her life was a rainbow where love conquered pain. Maggie Belle Moore, affectionately known as Miss Belle, went home to be with her master on Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. Miss Belle was born in Tangipahoa Parish on March 10, 1910. She was a Louisiana Southern Baptist Missionary for many years. She served the Lord for most of her life by teaching children in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, leading Bible studies, helping feed many people in her community and sharing her faith in Christ at Flannery Oaks Guest House where she was a resident. She was a nurse as well. Miss Belle was a longtime member of Weller Avenue Baptist Church and in her later years, was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church and Zoar Baptist Church. Visitation at Hollabaugh Spindle Funeral Home, 1553 Wooddale Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
