Edward John Huber Jr., a retired linotype operator for The Times-Picayune, died Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center. He was 78. Mr. Huber was born in New Orleans and lived in Jefferson Parish for most of his life. He graduated from Jesuit High School. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, receiving a Marksman Medal. Survivors include a brother, Earl Emil Huber of New Orleans, and two sisters, Mildred H. Meitzer of Houston and Gloria H. Penning of New Orleans. A Mass will be said Saturday at noon at All Faiths Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd. Visitation will be today from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Mausoleum.

Melanie André Christoffer, a retired bookseller, died Saturday of cancer at her son's home. She was 64. Mrs. Christoffer was born in New Orleans and lived in Chalmette for the past 39 years. She attended St. Stephen's High School. She worked for the Tulane University Health and Science Center Bookstore. Survivors include a son, Harold Joseph Scallon Jr.; a daughter, Patsy Christoffer Dewint; a sister, Inez André Newton; and three grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Andrew and Kenneth Mayeux Sr.; four daughters, Peggy Mayeux Kerns, Jean Mayeux Barkemeyer, Gwendolyn Mayeux Lacoste and Lisa Mayeux Pisano; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Matilda "Boo" Rickmon, a retired cook, died Monday at Memorial Medical Center. She was 79. Ms. Rickmon was born in Lake Providence and lived in New Orleans for 65 years. She worked for Lafon Holy Family Nursing Home. Earnest "Coach " Moncriffe Sr., a teacher and coach, died Saturday of heart failure at Baton Rouge General Hospital. He was 66. Mr. Moncriffe was born in Baton Rouge and lived in New Orleans. He was a graduate of Capitol High School and Southern University in Baton Rouge. He taught at Jefferson Community School for the past five years and at Gretna Junior High School for 32 years. He was a member of Praise Fellowship Church and was president of its Usher Board. He was a member of the National College Athletic Association, the Southwest Athletic Conference, Mumford Stadium Ushers and Southern University's Jaguar Nation. Survivors include his wife, Annie L. Blatcher Moncriffe; three sons, Earnest E. Moncriffe Jr. and Eric and Errol Moncriffe; two daughters, Earnessa L. Moncriffe and Emathieus M. Moses; two brothers, Richard Moncriffe Sr. and Robert Moncriffe Sr.; four sisters, Audrey and Doretha Moncriffe, the Rev. Ora McFarland and Joyce M. Bell; and eight grandchildren.
