GODWIN, THOMAS HERBERT SR.
November 7, 2002

Thomas Herbert Godwin Sr., a retired supervisor for Otis Elevator Co., died Tuesday of cancer at his home. He was 60. Mr. Godwin was born in New Orleans and was a longtime resident of Bay St. Louis, Miss., before moving to Pearl River 20 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Frierson Godwin; two sons, Thomas Herbert Godwin Jr. and Brock Joseph Godwin; a daughter, Terri G. Skinner; a stepdaughter, Terry Kennedy Harper; a brother, Frank Godwin; two sisters, Pauline G. Eppinette and Mary G. Buckley; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Louisiana 41 in Pearl River. Visitation will be today from 7 to 10 p.m. and Friday beginning at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, U.S. 190, Slidell.

WALKER, JOHN WILLIAM
November 8, 2002

John William Walker died Sunday of complications from pneumonia at his home. He was 54. Mr. Walker was born in Tulsa, Okla., and lived in Covington for the past 30 years. He was a private in the Army for four years and served in the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars and the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Survivors include a brother, Thad Michael Walker, and a sister, Rosemary Elaine Commander. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 1414 S. Tyler St., Covington. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will be private.

HILL, TITO M. SR.
November 8, 2002

Tito M. Hill Sr., a laborer, died Monday of injuries suffered in a car accident. He was 25. Mr. Hill was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended G.W. Carver Senior High School. He was a member of Greater Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. Survivors include his fiancée, Angel Johnson; two sons, Delexun Hill and Tito M. Hill Jr.; three daughters, Tierra, Tirra and Paris Hill; two stepsons, Brandon and Ivan Johnson; a stepdaughter, April Johnson; his mother, Claudette Samuels; his two stepfathers, Willie Samuels Jr. and Oscar Red Sr.; two brothers, Gregory Jones and Kevin Red; two stepbrothers; three stepsisters; and his grandmother, Willie Mae Butler. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Philemon Missionary Baptist Church, 2510 Congress St. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Estelle J. Wilson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAMS, BOBBIE JEAN SMITH

Bobbie Jean Smith Williams, a homemaker, died Oct. 30 of cancer at University Hospital. She was 52. Mrs. Williams was born in Independence and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include three daughters, Nacole and Kimeco Williams, both of Baton Rouge, and Brittany Smith; three brothers, Lemar Smith III and Roy and James Smith; and eight sisters, Margaret Williams of Independence, Jessie Miller of Mandeville, Rosalie Williams, Vernell Winchester, Linda Hines and Inetta Horton, all of California, Brenda Mabry of LaPlace and Doretha Smith. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at First Emanuel Baptist Church, 1829 Carondelet St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Wilson cemetery in Covington. N.A. James Funeral Home in Hammond is in charge of arrangements.

November 7, 2002

Cornelius Johnson, a retired truck driver, died Oct. 30 of kidney failure at his home. He was 54. Mr. Johnson was born in Brookhaven, Miss., and lived in Marrero. He graduated from St. Augustine High School. Survivors include his wife, Terry Johnson; a son, Tyrone Johnson; three daughters, Alexis Garcia, Tonya Wicker and Nijha Johnson; two stepsons, Joseph and Dewayne Holmes; seven stepdaughters, Beverly, Patricia, Laverne and Ruby Lee Wilson, and Ceola, Lena and Dawan'da Holmes; his mother, Earnestine J. Magee; a sister, Viola Johnson Evans of Michigan; and 14 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, 1131 Garden Road, Marrero. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Park in Avondale. Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

COJOE, VAUCHON K.
November 12, 2002

Vauchon K. Cojoe, a self-employed construction worker, died Friday at Charity Hospital of a gunshot wound. He was 32. Mr. Cojoe was born in New Orleans and lived in Harvey. He attended Booker T. Washington High School. He previously worked for Intrepid Construction Co. Mr. Cojoe was a coach for the Hunters Field football team for 9- and 10-year-olds. He was named coach of the year in 2001 by the Tambourine and Fan Hunters Field Football Team. He was a member of the Distinguished Gentlemen Social Aid and Pleasure Club and St. Peter Claver Brotherhood of UJAMAA. Survivors include his wife, LaTonja F. Cojoe; three sons, Vauchon Monroe, Vauchon Cojoe III and Kevin Cojoe; two daughters, Jonique Francois and Lauchon Lewis; his mother, Carolyn Riley Cojoe; his stepfather, Voycell Jacob Jr.; his stepmother, Patricia Gibbs; three brothers, Ryan Cojoe, Vauchon Gibbs and Jeremy Butler; and three sisters, Vauchel Cojoe, Michelle Cojoe and Brandy Vinnett. A Mass will be said Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Philip St. Visistation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery No. 3. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert O'Connor, a retired diesel mechanic for Avondale shipyard, died Sunday of sepsis at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 54. Mr. O'Connor was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Joseph S. Clark Senior High School and attended Delgado Community College. He was an Army veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Marksman Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Richardson O'Connor; two daughters, Candace O'Connor Green of Atlanta and Robin O'Connor Bluford; six brothers, Edwin, Lawrence, Kelly, Steve, Andre and Charles O'Connor; three sisters, Allegria O. Alsina, Janice O. Hall and Judy O. Webber; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Port Hudson National cemetery in Zachary.

WILSON, ARTHUR JR.
November 8, 2002

Arthur Wilson Jr., a retired self-employed painter, died Monday at St. Charles Hospital in Luling. He was 78. Mr. Wilson was born in Norco and lived in St. Rose. Survivors include two sons, Donald and Donell Wilson; six daughters, Patricia and Madeline Wilson, Gwendolyn Emerson, Kathleen Mitchell, Doreen Pittman and Gail McWilliams; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, 47 Cathy St., Norco. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Montz Memorial cemetery in Montz. Robottom Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Antoinette Pisciotta Lupo, a homemaker, died Monday at Memorial Medical Center. She was 79. Mrs. Lupo was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church. Survivors include her husband, Vincent George Lupo, and a sister, Josephine Martin. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 775 Harrison Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

FUSELIER, IRENE DORÉ
November 12, 2002

Irene Doré Fuselier, a homemaker, died Sunday of cancer at Memorial Medical Center. She was 64. Mrs. Fuselier was born in St. Martinville and lived in Gretna for the past 31 years. Survivors include a son, Perry H. Fuselier Jr.; two daughters, Johanna F. Trahan and Angela F. Howell; three brothers, Aymar, Darrell and Melvin Doré; two sisters, Theresa Thibadeaux and Marie Melancon; and seven grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8968 Louisiana 23, Belle Chasse. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.

Doris H. Sissac, a retired nurse, died Tuesday at Canon Health Care. She was 76. Mrs. Sissac was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy and Vo-Tech Nursing School. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital and St. Rita and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic churches. Survivors include her husband, Sidney B. Sissac; a daughter, Phyllis Sissac Moore; two sisters, Olga Garcia and Evelyn Prevost; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 9 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum. Richard J. Christoforo, an employee of Deep South Trucking Co., died Friday of heart failure in Gulfport, Miss. He was 55. Mr. Christoforo was born in Harahan and lived in Long Beach, Miss., for the past 10 years. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include a son, Robert Christoforo; a daughter, Gina Jensen of Mandeville; two stepdaughters, Angelic Flarida and Kristy Christoforo; his mother, Florence Lajewski of Kenner; two sisters, Shirley Palmisano of Lacombe and Barbara Giarratano of Kenner; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 8 p.m. at Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m.

KELTY, WILLIAM J. JR.
November 12, 2002

William J. Kelty Jr., a retired self-employed fisher, died Saturday at St. Rita's Nursing Home. He was 89. Mr. Kelty was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was a parishioner of San Pedro Pescador Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Grace K. DiCarlo and Catherine Serpas; a brother, James Kelty Sr.; three sisters, Marie Alphonso, Mary Maddox and June Keen; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 Bayou Road in St. Bernard. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Josephine Marie Pardo Morrow, a homemaker, died Sunday at her home in Suwanee, Ga. She was 81. Mrs. Morrow was born in Independence. She was a parishioner of St. Monica's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence William Morrow Sr. of Atlanta; a son, Lawrence William Morrow Jr. of St. Simon's Island, Ga.; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Evans of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. James Hunt and Mrs. Joseph Cuccia of Picayune, Miss.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Picayune. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a rosary at 9:45 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune. Derrick "BG" Leon Williams, a rapper who had recorded an as-yet-unreleased album with the Undisputed record label, died Oct. 31 of gunshot wounds at the corner of Toledano and South Liberty streets. He was 21. Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended Walter L. Cohen and Alcee Fortier high schools. Survivors include his father, Bennie Butler Jr.; his mother, Dorothy Harris; his adoptive father, James "Yam" Harris; a brother, Delvin Lee Harris; and three grandparents, Ethel Mae Bender, Winnie Butler and Patricia Williams. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Park.

Ervin Louis Hughes Jr., a retired painter, died Oct. 26 of renal failure at his home. He was 51. Mr. Hughes was born in Algiers and lived in Westwego for the past 10 years. Survivors include two sons, Ervin J. Hughes and Nicholas Ward; a daughter, Amanda Hughes; two brothers, Raymond and Bobby Hughes; and a sister, Mary Hopper.
