Leslie Peter Lombas Sr., owner of Les Lombas & Son Building Contractors, died Saturday of cancer at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was 78. Mr. Lombas was a lifelong resident of Westwego. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6793 and past president of Dumonde Oaks Country Club. He was a former building inspector for the city of Westwego. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lee Farr Lombas; a son, Leslie Peter "Skippy" Lombas Jr.; three daughters, Caffie Hertz, Kathleen Doming and Deana Chiasson; a brother, William Lombas Jr.; two sisters, Rita Gros and Elsie Alario; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1701 Bridge City Ave., Bridge City. Visitation will be today at 6 p.m. at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 West Bank Expressway, Marrero. Burial will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.

April Nagel Edwards, a retail store clerk, died Thursday of undetermined causes at her home. She was 32. Ms. Edwards was born in Kirkwood, Mo., and lived in Chalmette for the past 20 years. Survivors include her father, Arnold Edwards; her mother, Elaine R. Edwards; and two sisters, Pamela Wiles of Willow Springs, Mo., and Melodie Slavick of Superior, Colo. A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Vickers, Verrette and Dornan Funeral Home, 3027 Jean Lafitte Parkway in Chalmette. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private.

Dean Thomas Laurent, a service technician for Robért Refrigeration Service, died Tuesday of undetermined causes at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 21. Mr. Laurent was a lifelong resident of Metairie. He graduated from De La Salle High School and attended Louisiana State University. Survivors include his companion, Dianne Elizabeth Bentel; his father, Terry A. Laurent; his mother, Victoria W. Laurent; two brothers, Troy Michael and Josh Johnathan Laurent; and a sister, Natasha Lisa Laurent. A Mass will be said Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 1609 Carrollton Ave., Metairie. Lorraine Mader Miestchovich, a homemaker, died Sunday at Memorial Medical Center. She was 81. Mrs. Miestchovich was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of St. Pius Ladies Sodality, Lake Vista Women's Club and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a past president of Lake Vista Garden Club and the Ladies Auxiliary Cosmopolitan Club. Survivors include three sons, Ivan Joseph Miestchovich Jr., Ray Anthony Miestchovich Sr. and Charles Joseph Miestchovich; a daughter, Yvonne M. Perry; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Carlo Joseph Giordano Sr., a manager for Hibernia National Bank, died Sunday at Hancock Country Hospital in Hancock, Miss., of cancer. He was 57. Mr. Giordano was born in New Orleans and lived in Waveland, Miss., for the past year. Survivors include his wife, Donna E. Giordano; three sons, Carlo Joseph Giordano Jr. and Anthony Paul and Shaun Martin Giordano; two sisters, Jean Manard and Carol Karl; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Thomas Robert Hickham, a student at Appalachian Law School in Grundy, Va., died Sunday of a heart attack at his home. He was 31. Mr. Hickham was born in New Orleans and lived in Covington. He graduated from Mandeville High School and Louisiana State University. He taught English at Christian University in Taipei, Taiwan, for three years and later opened his own school. He was an Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Survivors include his father, Arthur F. Hickham Sr.; his mother, Isabel Hickham; three brothers, Michael, Patrick and Arthur "Rusty" Hickham Jr.; and four sisters, Clare Collier, Robin Jensen, Marie Carriger and Holly Hickham. A Mass will be said Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 2115 Jefferson St., Mandeville. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery No. 3. Zina D. Goloforo, a homemaker, died Thursday at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 78. Ms. Goloforo was born in Natalbany and lived in Metairie for the past 51 years. She was a past president of the American Legion Post 396 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and past member of the St. Jude Society. Survivors include a son, Steve Salisbury; three daughters, Carol S. Williams, Jo Ann Vicknair and Marion Guidry; a stepson, Frank Goloforo Sr.; a brother, Salvador Domino; a sister, Katie Garofalo ; two half-brothers, Mike and Paul Danna; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. John Chrysosthome Bourgeois, a retired carpenter, died Wednesday at his home in Harahan. He was 92. Mr. Bourgeois was born in Vacherie and lived New Orleans and Harahan for the past 61 years. He was a parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church in Harahan. He was a former member of the Carpenter's Union Local No. 1846. Survivors include two sons, John B. Bourgeois of Los Angeles and Donald C. Bourgeois of Metairie; four daughters, Rosalie B. Tubre of Hammond, Chris Morgan of Baton Rouge, Jenny Scheurer and Sylvia deLaureal, both of Metairie; a sister, Maybelle Falgoust of Vacherie; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
