Lawrence N. Veca, a retired assistant credit manager for The Times-Picayune, died Sunday at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 97. Mr. Veca was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 34 years. He attended Warren Easton High School and was a graduate of Soule Business College. He was co-founder and co-owner of the Larry Veca Orchestra, performing at the Audubon Tea Room, The Terrace Club and New Orleans Athletic Club. Survivors include his companion, Evelyn Bellardi; two sons, Donald J. Veca of Pleasanton, Calif., and Dr. Kenneth L. Veca of Kenner; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Roch No. 2 cemetery.

Paul Joseph Myers, owner of AM/PM Towing Co., died Saturday of cancer at his home. He was 54. Mr. Myers was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 26 years. He was a member of the Retired Asbestos Workers Local No. 53. Survivors include his wife, Linda P. Myers; a son, Paul J. Myers Jr.; and a daughter, Linda A. Pardee. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Darrow "Peanut" Bernard Jefferson, a laborer, died Nov. 22 of gunshot wounds at Jackson and Constance streets. He was 21. Mr. Jefferson was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School. Survivors include his companion, Keva Massey; a daughter, Darriyan Massey; his father, Darrell Mars; his mother, Gloria Jean Jefferson; his stepfather, Herbert Robinson; three brothers, Derrick and Antione Jefferson and Darrell D. Mars III; two sisters, Gabriel and Debra Mars; and his grandparents, Ethel Robinson and Frances McShane. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha C. Ella Mae "Teedy" Jackson, a retired nurse's aide, died Nov. 22 at her home. She was 76. Mrs. Jackson was born in Amite and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include two sisters, Hazel Lindsey of Hammond and Mary Banks of Mississippi. William E. Butler, a retired insurance executive and actuary, died Monday at Harvest Manor Nursing Home in Denham Springs. He was 79. Mr. Butler was born in San Antonio, lived in New Orleans for many years and recently lived in Baton Rouge. He was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and Trinity University. He served in the Army Reserves and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He was a former president of Riverside Life Insurance Co., and a former member and deacon at Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, William E. Butler III of New Haven, Conn., and Kevin H. and Brian T. Butler of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Burial will be in San Jose Burial Park in San Antonio.

Gayle Marie Hebert McCurdy, a homemaker, died Wednesday of cancer at her home. She was 64. Mrs. McCurdy was a lifelong resident of Marrero. Timothy William Adams, a student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, died Monday in Broussard of injuries received in an auto accident. He was 21. Mr. Adams was born in Metairie, had lived in Kenner and lived in Lafayette. He was a graduate of Brother Martin High School. Survivors include his father, Wilfred W. Claudia H. Nicosia, a homemaker, died Friday at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 80. Mr. Nicosia was born in Henryetta, Okla., and lived in Metairie for the past 50 years. Claude Dussel, 68

Claude Dussel, a noted artist and French Quarter personality, died Nov. 10 of heart failure at Touro Infirmary. He was 68. Mr. Dussel was born in Mont de Marsan, France, and after a successful career there he moved to New York in 1969, to Key West, Fla., in 1980 and to New Orleans in 1994.
Mr. Dussel served in the French army and was a member of the Rosicrucian Order. He was a self-taught artist who painted in the style of the Fantastique movement, which included Leonor Fini and Jean Pierre Alaux, and was exhibited at galleries in Paris such as Andre Weil and Galerie de Paris. He developed his talents to include theater set designs and had worked on projects by Jean Cocteau, Jean Marais and Fernando Arrabal.
When Mr. Dussel moved to New York, he changed his style of painting from the figurative to the abstract, and after he moved to Key West, his art reflected the influences of his diving experiences, which he translated into sculptures and fine jewelry. In New Orleans he still concentrated on the abstract but blended the style with figurative influences and a distinctive French Quarter expression.
Survivors include his companion, Yumi Lin; two daughters, Sophie Martin of Mont de Marsan and Dominique Lesperance of Santa Cruz, Calif.; a sister, Nicole Parent of Paris; and three grandchildren. A private service was held. United Funeral Service handled the arrangements.

Brenda M. Jackson, a nurse's assistant with Medical Team Home Health, died Monday of cancer at Medical Center of Louisiana. She was 41. Mrs. Jackson was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington Senior High School. Survivors include her husband, Tyrone Jackson Sr.; two sons, Edward Williams and Tyrone Jackson Jr.; two sisters, Deborah G. Wilson H. Brown Jr., a retired insurance salesman, died Friday at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Brown was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and lived in Kenner for the past 40 years. He was a Coast Guard veteran. He worked with Western Southern Life Insurance Co. for many years and was a member of Crescent City Baptist Church for 40 years. Survivors include his wife, Earline Clement Brown; and two sisters, Margot Brown Thompson of Washington and Mary Brown of New York. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at L.A.
