Leroy J. Cousin, a laborer, died Thursday at Lakeview Regional Hospital of injuries suffered in a car accident. He was 81. Mr. Cousin was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacombe. Survivors include two sisters, Juanita Prevost and Hilda Guyot. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Osay cemetery. Heritage Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Wardell Edward Cordova, a truck driver for Yellow Freight Systems, died Sunday of undetermined causes at Tulane University Medical Center. He was 56. Mr. Cordova was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and Job Corps in Texas. He was a former member of The Jolly Bunch, Golden Trumpets, and The Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club. Survivors include two sons, Rodney Cordova Sr. and Edward Cordova; two daughters, Shioban and Chanda Cordova; his mother, Edwina Joseph Cordova; a brother, Henry Edison; three sisters, Gwendolyn Wallace of Oakland, Calif., Leah Green and Jacqueline Henry; and six grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Boissiere-Labat Family Funeral Services, 1703 N. Claiborne Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Bernadette Ory, a homemaker and seamstress, died Thursday of pulmonary disease in Metairie. She was 75. Mrs. Ory was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 30 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence. Survivors include two sons, Byron J. Jr. and Robert J. Ory; a daughter, Joell Ory Sulzer; two sisters, Sister Cecilia Daigle, OSB, and Georgine Naylor; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Joseph Nicholas Manale Sr., a retired captain with the New Orleans Fire Department, died Friday at Memorial Mercy Hospital. He was 78. Mr. Manale was a lifelong resident of Algiers. He was a graduate of Martin Behrman High School. He was a member of VFW 3121, VFW National Home, First Marine Division Association, Greater New Orleans Chapter First Marine Division, Marine Corps League Detachment 579, Dav Felix La Veau 10, Louisiana State Fireman's Association, American Legion 218, 40/8 Voiture 108, AM Vets Post No. 100, Police and Fireman's Holy Name Society, Veterans Firefighter 5th and 14th Defense Battalion, 10 Defense Battalion, and AARP Chapters 3975 and 4034. He served in the Marine Corps as a private first class in the South and Central Pacific during World War II. He was a recipient of the American Campaign medal, Asiatic Pacific two stars and the Victory Medallion. Survivors include his wife, Floris Susslin Manale; a son, Joseph N. Manale Jr.; a daughter, Janice Manale Buhler; two sisters, Theresa M. Borne and Mary Lou M. Ehret of Greenwood Miss.; a granddaughter; and a great-grandchild. Mr. Gordon was born in Mobile, Ala., and lived in New Orleans for many years. He was a graduate of Blount High School in Mobile and attended Florida A&M; University. He was a member of Beecher Memorial United Church of Christ, the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club and the Ambassador Krewe. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Crockett Gordon; two daughters, Cherwanda and Fredrica Gordon; two stepsons, Charles and Craig Ferrand; five stepdaughters, Myra Nwachuka, Tyra Legard, Tricia Menyweather and Cassandra and Vanessa Ferrand; four brothers, Edward, Alfred, Clarence and Albert Gordon; two sisters, Annie Cockrell and Rosa Gordon; and six grandchildren.
