Joseph Peter Guarisco Sr., a retired butcher, died Wednesday at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 88. Mr. Guarisco was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie. He graduated from Warren Easton High School. He worked at Solari's in the French Quarter for many years and later at Vonderhaar's Meat Market and Deanie's Seafood. He was a parishioner of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Frances Georgette Schindeldecker Guarisco; a son, Joseph Peter Guarisco Jr. of Luling; two daughters, Lois Frances Guarisco Friloux of Carencro and Joy Guarisco; three sisters, Frances Guarisco Landetto, Mary Rita Guarisco Bourgeois and Flora Mary Guarisco Lolle; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 1609 Carrollton Ave., Metairie. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park cemetery.

Cassie T. Young, a homemaker, died Wednesday at her home. She was 78. Mrs. Young was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a member of the New Orleans Women's Club. Linda Faye Herring Brandly, a patient account coordinator for Tulane University Hospital and Clinic, died Saturday of colon cancer at her home. She was 46. Mrs. Brandly was born in Tallulah and lived in New Orleans for the past 10 years. She graduated from Alcorn State University. Survivors include her husband, Larry Brandly; a son, Adrian Brandly of Monroe; three daughters, Lindsey Brandly of New Orleans, Tracy Brandly of Monroe and Keieshawn Golsby of Natchitoches; her father, George Herring Sr. of Tallulah; her stepmother, Katie Herring of Tallulah; five brothers, George Herring Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., William, Samuel and Jerry Herring, all of Marrero, and Michael Herring of Monroe; two sisters, Clara Robinson of Las Vegas and Diane Jackson of Sacramento, Calif.; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 West Bank Expressway, Marrero. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.

Mary Wimberly Gordon, a homemaker, died Sunday at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. She was 92. Ms. Gordon was born in Choctaw, Ala., and lived in New Orleans for the past 12 years. She was a member of Gaza Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Edgar C. and Willie M. Gordon; three daughters, Mary Ellar Thompkins of Yantley, Ala., Jennie R. Gaines of Huntsville, Ala., and Daisy G. McRae; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at D.W. Joseph David Aiello, a retired employee of General Motors Corp., died Tuesday of heart failure in Gulfport, Miss. He was 72. Mr. Aiello was born in Rockford, Ill., and lived in Waveland, Miss., for many years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Carol S. Aiello; a son, Barton Boehm of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; two daughters, Elizabeth Zimmerman of Waveland and Lenora Whitmire of Douglasville, Ga.; two brothers, Sebastian Aiello of Illinois and Peter Aiello of California; and six grandchildren. Ana Luisa Alegre, a teacher, died Tuesday at her home. She was 84. Mrs. Alegre was born in Palma Soriano, Cuba, and lived in Kenner for the past 30 years. She graduated from Normal School of Teaching in Cuba and attended the University of Santiago. She was a third-grade teacher in Cuba and taught adult night classes. Survivors include a daughter, Ana Grethel Sarabia; a sister, Estrella Alegre; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Williams was born in Baton Rouge and lived in New Orleans for the past 30 years. She graduated from Louisiana State University. She was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Lee Williams; three daughters, Carmen Nicole, Carla Rochelle and Tyra Lynette Williams; her father, John Ernest Byrd Jr.; her mother, Doris Ricard Byrd; three brothers, Darell, John and Jerome Byrd; and a sister, Myrna Jisr. Sister Marianne Leona Zadrozny, abbess of the Poor Clare Monastery in New Orleans, died Thursday of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the monastery. She was 66. Sister Marianne was born in Cheektowaga and lived in New Orleans for many years. She graduated from Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y., with a degree in education and received a master's degree in Franciscan studies from Saint Bonaventure University in New York. She was abbess from 1973 to 1979 and again since 2000. She was elected federation president of the Mother Bentivoglio Federation of Poor Clares, comprising 14 monasteries, from 1982 to 1990. She was a member of the Felician Sisters of Buffalo, N.Y., the Monastery of Saint Clare in Memphis, Tenn., from 1962 to 1967 and a member of St. Clare's Monastery in New Orleans since 1967. Survivors include her brother, John Zadrozny. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Clare Monastery, 720 Henry Clay Ave. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in the monastery mortuary chapel. Robert Joseph Sahuque Jr., a retired employee of American Standard, died Monday at Doctors Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Sahuque was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 34 years. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 175 and the Ed Brauner Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a charter member of the New Orleans Track Club. He was a parishioner of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Robert J. Sahuque III; three daughters, Judith S. Ibarz, Amy S. Guerra and Michelle S. Forbes; two brothers, Paul Sahuque Sr. and John Sahuque Jr.; five sisters, Marie S. Dwyer, Rita S. Piefer, Louise S. Cunningham, Geraldine S. Blanke and JoAnn S. Gianoli; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass was said Thursday. Burial was in Lake Lawn Mausoleum. Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home handled arrangements.
