Thomas "Tom" L. Meehan, a retired service manager with Gulf Coast Office Products and U.S. Copy, Inc., died Saturday of liver disease at Kenner Regional Medical Center. He was 44. Mr. Meehan was born in Philadelphia and lived in Kenner for the past 21 years. Survivors include his wife, Joanne Meehan; two sons, Austin Thomas and Jack Henry Meehan; his father, Thomas L. Meehan Sr.; his mother, Mae Meehan; two brothers, Fran and Brian Meehan; and two sisters, Peggi Meehan and Eileen Vella. A memorial Mass will be said today at 2 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.

Tammy Marie Williams, an investigator with the New Orleans Taxi Cab Bureau, died Sunday at Charity Hospital after she was struck by an automobile. She was 34. Miss Williams was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past three years. She graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School. She was a member of James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her companion, Brian Harding Jr.; her mother, Christine Joyner; her father, Henry Jesse Clark of Las Vegas; her stepfather, Excel Joyner Sr.; two brothers, David Williams Jr. and Excel Joyner Jr.; a stepbrother, Stephen Joyner; three stepsisters, Sebrum Rocker of Jacksonville, Fla., Nekita Robinson and Shelita Short, both of Atlanta; and her grandparents, Sarah Smothers of Weyanoke and Viola Clark of Baton Rouge. A funeral will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Dismissal will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park.

Margery Batiste, a homemaker, died Saturday of liver failure at Memorial Medical Center. She was 69. Ms. Batiste was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a member of True Fellowship Full Gospel Church. Survivors include two sons, Daryl and Herbert Batiste; a daughter, Pauline Tally of Norfolk, Va; and a sister, Ramona Thompson of Jefferson. Ethel "Curly" Thomas, a homemaker, died Monday of a stroke at West Jefferson Medical Center. She was 55. Mrs. Thomas was born in New Orleans and lived in Bridge City. Survivors include her husband, Patrick Thomas; three sons, Darryl, Kevin and Norman Veal; two daughters, Vanilla F. Mims and Jennifer J. Archer; her father, Alex Williams; her mother, Ella Penwright; two brothers, Wilbert Williams and Alex Williams Jr.; six sisters, Ruby Moore, Mary Weber, Dorothy Santacruze, Ora Narcisse, Cecile Miller and Marion Washington; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Joe Banks, a bricklayer, died Wednesday of lung cancer at Canon Hospice. He was 60. Mr. Banks was born in Natchez, Miss., and lived in Westwego for the past 15 years. He was a graduate of Natchez High School and was a member of Grove AME Church of Natchez. Survivors include a son, Kevin Turner of Hahnville; his father, Sam Banks Sr. of Natchez; two brothers, Sam Banks Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and Henry Banks of Natchez; three sisters, Estelle Gooden of Marrero, Delores Conners and Susie Banks of Natchez; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Grove AME Church, 714 Lower Woodville Road, Natchez. Odessa G. Duckworth Jr., a gardener, died Monday of cancer at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 48. Mr. Duckworth was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from St. Augustine High School and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and Southern University of New Orleans. He was a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a petty officer first class in the Navy for four years and served in the reserves for two years. Survivors include three daughters, Keiyana, Monica and Dominique Duckworth; his father, Odessa G. Duckworth Sr.; his mother, Mercedes Lewis Duckworth; two sisters, Melanie Duckworth of Reno, Nev., and Jacquelyn Davidson; and a grandchild. Donald "Lucas" Cox, a self-employed entertainer and dancer, died Monday of injuries suffered in a bicycle accident in the 1200 block of Camp Street. He was 33. Mr. Cox was born in Sacramento, Calif., and lived in New Orleans for the past two years. He graduated from Centerville High School in Centerville, Ohio, and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson for three years. Survivors include his father, David L. Cox of Los Alamos, N.M.; his mother, Patricia Cox of Los Alamos; and a brother, Thomas Luis Cox of Tucson. Burgess Murray Frost II, an agronomist, died Sunday of complications from diabetes at his home. He was 59. Mr. Frost was born in Lafitte and lived in New Orleans. He graduated from St. Martin's Episcopal School and from Southeastern Louisiana University. He operated his own arborist company. He was a former agronomist for Del Monte in Bananera, Guatemala, where he worked in the cultivation of pineapples. He was also a former employee of Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, where he was chief of horticulture. Survivors include a son, Matthew Bishop Frost; three daughters, Rebecca Bridger, Chloe Lockett and Mathilde Nelson Frost; his mother, Theresa Guess Frost of Lafitte; and brother, John Meigs Frost. Mr. Rome was born in East Baton Rouge and lived in Bay St. Louis, Miss., for the past 15 years. He was a past district governor of Lions International, Mississippi Lions Club District 30 N. Survivors include a son, Gerald Rome Sr.; a daughter, Darlene Bergens; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Joseph "Parran" "Uncle Joe" Johnson, a retired salesman, died Sept. 1 at Crescent City Health Care. He was 90. Mr. Johnson was born in Lafourche Crossing and lived in New Orleans for the past 70 years. He was a member of St. John's Institutional Missionary Baptist Church and served on its Deacon Board, Usher Board No. 2 and Benevolent Board. He received many awards for his service. He was a member of the Golden 12 Charity Club and the Wood Shopper Social Club. He is survived by nieces and nephews.
