Irma M. Anderson
Thursday, August 19, 1999
Irma M. (Cirome) Anderson, 62, of Andover died Monday, Aug. 16, at home.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Haverhill.

She was a former secretary in the Andover Public Schools.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of St. Augustine Church and involved in the Andona Society.

Members of her family include her son and daughter-in-law, Scott J. and Shari Anderson of Palm Bay, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Kim Clancy of Haverhill; mother, Amelia Cirome of Haverhill; brother, Alfred Cirome of Plaistow, N.H.; sisters, Frances Cirome of San Francisco, Calif., and Lorrie Cirome of Somerville; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the widow of Craig E. Anderson.

Calling hours are scheduled for today, Thursday, Aug. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Burke Funeral Home, 390 N. Main St.

A funeral Mass will be said Friday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church on Essex Street. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Norma R. Coffey
Thursday, September 23, 1999
Norma R. (Forrey) Coffey, 68, of Andover, died Thursday, Sept. 16, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.

Born in East Boston, Mrs. Coffey worked as a volunteer for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Members of her family include daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Peter Martellucci of Haverhill's Bradford section, Geri and David Tallini of Londonderry, N.H., Nancy and Dave Zawodny of Bradford, U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Patricia Cowell and Capt. Seth Cowell of Georgia, and Susan and Mark Doherty of Merrimac; son and daughter-in-law Thomas J. and Jill Coffey of West Newbury; brothers Patrick and James Forrey, both of California, Robert Forrey of Ohio and Paul Forrey of New York; sisters Irene Racca of Chelmsford, Elaine Daly of Andover and Lorraine Wilson of Lynnfield; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was said Monday at St. Augustine Church.

Cremation was at Linwood Crematory, Haverhill.

Marion W. Gerrish
Thursday, August 26, 1999
Marion W. (White) Gerrish, 66, of Londonderry, N.H., died Sunday, Aug. 22, after a long battle with cancer.

Mrs. Gerrish was born in the Ballardvale section of Andover and was a 1951 graduate of Punchard High. She graduated from Salem Hospital School of Nursing in 1954.

Mrs. Gerrish lived in Andover for 35 years and in Derry, N.H., for 31 years before she moved to Londonderry.

She was a registered nurse at Lawrence General and Mary Hitchcock hospitals, and Blakey Nursing Home and Birchwood Nursing Home, both of Derry.

Mrs. Gerrish had worked at Gerrish, Peters and Co. Inc. in Lawrence with her sons since 1980.

She was co-founder of Marion Gerrish Community Center in Derry and remained active at the center. She enjoyed making handcrafted gifts and ballroom dancing and was an avid collector of cat knick-knacks.

Members of her family include her husband, Scott Gerrish of Londonderry, whom she married in 1955; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Elizabeth Gerrish Jr. of Auburn, N.H., and Glenn and Cheryl Gerrish of Greenville, N.H.; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Randall Moquin of Derry, N.H., and Caren and Michael Perdigao of Clifton Park, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; one aunt; one uncle; and several cousins.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Peabody Funeral Home in Londonderry. Cremation was in Southern New Hampshire Crematory in Derry. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry at a later date.

James A. Harnden
Thursday, August 19, 1999
James A. Harnden, 35, of Templeton died Sunday, Aug. 8, at Athol Memorial Hospital, after injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Mr. Harnden was born in Andover, the son of Robert E. and Clara L. (Bassett) Harnden. The North Andover High graduate had also lived in Lawrence.

He was a machine operator for New England Firearms Co. in Gardner for several years.

Members of his family include his brothers, Donald Harnden and Robert Harnden, both of Lawrence; sister, Irene Harnden, also of Lawrence; aunt and uncle, Peter and June Lemieux of North Andover, with whom he lived most of his school years; and nine nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Smith Funeral Home in Gardner.

Judge Maurice Schwartz
Thursday, August 19, 1999
Judge Maurice Schwartz, 76, of Andover died at Holy Family Hospital and Medical Center in Methuen after a brief illness.

Judge Schwartz was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High in 1940. He graduated from Northeastern University College of Liberal Arts and Northeastern University School of Law, Juris Doctor, in 1947.

Judge Schwartz was a resident of Lawrence until he moved to Methuen in 1954. He moved to Andover in 1974.

He established a law office in Lawrence, where he practiced until his appointment to Amesbury District Court in 1984. Judge Schwartz retired from the bench in 1992 and returned to private practice with his daughter in Methuen. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1965 and U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He was counsel to Merrimack Valley Planning Commission and Methuen charter commission and was a member of Methuen Town Meeting.

Judge Schwartz served as president of Lawrence Bar Association, Greater Lawrence Jewish Community Council, Jewish Community Center, Congregation Tifereth Israel and Congregation Anshei Shulim. He served on the executive committee of Northeastern University Law School Alumni Association, as treasurer of United Credit Union and chairman of the Lawyer's Division of United Fund and was a member of Holy Family Hospital Men's Guild, B'nai B'rith and Andover Historical Society.

Judge Schwartz was honored in June by the Merrimack Valley Jewish Federation for years of service and received the Man of the Year award from Merrimack Valley Hebrew Academy. He also received community awards in past years from Joseph Koffman Lodge of B'nai B'rith, Israeli Bond Committee and Jewish Community Council of Greater Lawrence.

Members of his family include his wife, Barbara (Weinstein) Schwartz of Andover; daughters, Gail Rosengard and Pamela Schwartz-Bruckman; sister, Lottie Karp; and two granddaughters.

He was the brother of the late Anne Lilly and Lillian Fleet.

Services were held Wednesday at Temple Emanuel. Interment was in Anshei Shulim Cemetery in Lawrence.

Arrangements were by Goldman-Fisher Funeral Chapel in Malden.

Condolence calls may be made at his home through Friday afternoon.

Harold C. Goddard Jr.
Thursday, August 19, 1999
Harold C. Goddard Jr., 88, of Marstons Mills died Friday, Aug. 13, at the Center for Optimum Care in Mashpee.

Mr. Goddard was born in Holliston and graduated from Bentley College in Waltham.

The longtime resident of Andover moved to Marstons Mills in 1977.

He was a cost accountant for General Tire in Lawrence when he retired in 1977.

Mr. Goddard was a member and served for several years as a treasurer for South Congregational Church.

Members of his family include his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Dix) Goddard of Marstons Mills; sons, Clifford T. Goddard of Bradford and John M. Goddard of Kennebunkport, Maine; and two grandchildren.

A private burial was held in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Elizabeth L. Anderson
Thursday, August 26, 1999
Elizabeth L. Anderson (MacNeil), 53, of Andover died Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.

Ms. Anderson was born in Fitchburg and was a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.

She taught at Malden Hospital and worked in the Andover school system. Ms. Anderson also taught biology and chemistry at Salem State College.

She was a member of the Sanborn School PTO.

Members of her family include her daughter, Charlene L. MacNeil; and son, Andrew J. MacNeil, both of Andover; and brother, John O. Anderson of San Diego, Calif.

Cremation took place at Linwood Crematory.

Arrangements were by Burke Funeral Home.
