Marion Miller Walker

Marion "Mysie" Miller Walker, 95, died in Methuen on Jan. 7.
Ms. Miller Walker was a former resident of Andover.
She graduated from Lawrence High School and Waltham School of Nursing.
Her nursing career spanned more than 50 years, including long service at the Middleton Sanatorium.
Ms. Miller Walker was an avid reader and opera lover, and until the time of her death she followed current events with great relish, her family said.
Her dry wit, brilliant intellect and friendship are missed by all who knew her, they said.
Family members include her sisters, Betty Kistner of Stuart, Fla., and Anne Carr of Rathdrum, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews of several generations.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary and her brother, John.
Francis J. McBride

Francis J. ("Frank") McBride of Westminster, Colo., and formerly of Andover, died Sunday, March 11 at St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster.
Raised in Andover, he was the son of the late Francis Joseph McBride and Jane (Waldie) McBride.
He was a graduate of Andover High School and served in the US Army.
He owned and operated Travel Anywhere Inc. in downtown Andover.
Members of his family include his wife, Barbara McBride of Westminster; his son Christopher McBride and his wife Jennifer of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his sister, Rachael Callahan and her husband Francis of Methuen; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Edwin Roy Brown

Edwin Roy Brown, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 17, at his home.
He was born, raised and educated in the Ballardvale section of Andover, and graduated from Punchard High School.
He was the son of the late Edwin W. and Mildred E. (Nickerson) Brown.
He was a member of the former Ballardvale Methodist Church.
Mr. Brown worked for many years at the Shawsheen Rubber Co. and retired as a technical sales consultant.
He served in the Massachusetts State Guard as sergeant and platoon leader.
Mr. Brown was a member of St. Matthew's Lodge in Andover, a Shriner, 32nd degree, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Bodies of Lowell, Consistory of the Scottish Rites and the Aleppo Temple in Wilmington.
Mr. Brown summered in York, Maine, where he cleared the land and built his home over looking Nubble Light.
Edythe Lyle

Edythe (MacDonald) Lyle, 79, of Kennebunk, died Tuesday, June 22, at home.
Ms. Lyle was born in Concord, Mass. She graduated from Concord High, where she was a member of the field hockey and girls' track teams and from Miss Farmer's School in Boston
She lived most of her life in Andover. Ms. Lyle worked at Phillips Academy for 24 years before she retired in 1987. She also worked at Andover Inn for several years.
The South Church member was past president of Alpha Phi Chi, taught Sunday School, was a member of Prudential Committee and a Cub Scout den leader. She was a member of November Club, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Boston Symphony.
She was a volunteer driver and frequent donor for the American Red Cross and volunteered at the Cancer Society.
Ms. Lyle moved to Kennebunk in 1988 and was a part-time hostess in several local restaurants. She was on the condo association board of directors at the complex she lived in.
Members of her family include her sons, Alfred P. Luedke of Newfields, N.H., and George Luedke of Falmouth; daughter, Bette Campbell of Portsmouth, N.H.; and seven grandchildren.
She is the widow of George H. Lyle.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 18 at 4 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cochran Bird Sanctuary, care of Trustees of Phillips Academy, Office of Academic Resources, 180 Main St., Andover 01810; or to the Andover chapter of the American Red Cross.

David Elliot Nicholls

David Elliot Nicholls, 59, of Andover died Tuesday, June 29, at Lawrence General Hospital after suffering a respiratory arrest on June 14.
Mr. Nichols was born in Wolfeboro, N.H., and raised in Nashville, Tenn. He was the son of Professor William H. Nicholls of Lexington, Ky., and Elizabeth Banfield Burwell Nicholls of Brookline.
Mr. Nicholls graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Oberlin College and became a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Economics at Harvard University.
After being diagnosed with schizophrenia he remained an active and giving member of his community. He pursued courses at Vanderbilt University, sang in choirs and was a volunteer with children and the elderly. He moved to Andover in 1993 and became an active member of Free Christian Church.
Poetry was his passion and a means of self-expression. His poems explored the devotion of family, longing for love, and the mysteries of the creative process. He used his compositions to better understand his illness while explaining it to others.
Members of his family include his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Nichols Hilbink and Ronald Hilbink of Andover; niece, Lisa Hilbink Gerber of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and nephew, Thomas Hilbink of Brooklyn, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held in Free Christian Church in August.

Ernest Stansfield

Ernest "Jake" Stansfield, 51, of Windham, N.H., died Monday, June 28, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell after a brief illness.
Mr. Stansfield was born in Methuen and grew up in Andover, where he lived until his marriage.
He was a campus police officer at Tewksbury Mental Health Hospital in Tewksbury, and was a member of the Police Association in New Hampshire.
Members of his family include his wife of 30 years, Louise Vittorioso Stansfield of Windham; father, Ernest Stansfield of Frye Circle; sisters, Carol Daley of Dracut, Virginia Stansfield of Methuen and Mary McCulley of Windham; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur R. and Anne Stansfield of Andover; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are scheduled for today, Thursday, July 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Burke Funeral Home, 390 North Main St.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Linwood Crematory.

George Calder Williams

George Calder Williams, 83, of Eastham died Sunday, June 20, at Cape Cod Hospital after a long illness.
Lt. Williams, a former Andover resident, retired from the Andover Fire Department in 1971.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and received the Army Air Force Air Medal for distinguished service in combat.
Mr. Williams was a life member of Free Christian Church and a member of Saint Matthew's Lodge AF&AM.
Members of his family include his niece, Helen A. Watkinson of Andover; nephews, Edward C. Ellis, also of Andover, and other nieces and nephews.
He was the widower of Isabell MacKenzie Williams of Andover and brother of the late Mary Williams Ellis, Helen Williams Adams and James D. Williams.
Committal services will be held Wednesday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at the West Parish Cemetery family plot.
