Dorothy (Roth) Cannon, 86, of Andover died Monday, Dec. 27, at Prescott House Nursing Home in North Andover.
Mrs. Cannon was born in Baltimore, Md., and raised and educated in Maryland. She was a graduate of Mont DeSales School of Nursing near Baltimore.
After marrying the late Raymond J. Cannon Sr., she moved to New York.
Mrs. Cannon moved to Andover in 1987. She was a member of St. Augustine Church and supported St. Augustine Building of Faith Community Campaign.
Members of her family include her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond J. and Dr. Joan B. Cannon Jr. of Andover; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie C. and Dr. Lawrence Kistler of Needham; brother, Henry Roth; sister, Mary Holden, both of Catonsville, Md.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was said Friday in St. Augustine Church. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Charles F. Dewhirst, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home.

Agnes B. Flint Cross

Agnes B. (Ashton) Flint Cross, 93, of 15 Stevens St. died Thursday, Dec. 30, at North Shore Hospital in Peabody.
Mrs. Cross was born and educated in Lynn and was a member of Lynnfield Community Church.
Members of her family include her nieces, Grace (Mutrux) Bernardin of Andover and Donna (Ashton) Cunningham of South Meridin, Conn.; and nephew, Kenneth Ashton of Englewood, Fla.
She was the widow of Lester Flint and Perely Cross and mother of the late Urban Flint.
Graveside services were held Thursday at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn.
Arrangements were by Dewhirst and Conte Funeral Home.

Ed Doherty

Ed Doherty, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 2, in Tucson, Ariz.
Mr. Doherty came out of Andover High in the late 1930s and, for financial reasons, went to work at Tyer Rubber in Lawrence for a couple of years.
He then went to St. John's Prep and honed his football skills playing with a tough semi-pro league in Lawrence. He eventually received an invitation to Boston College from coach Frank Leahy when B.C. was a national football power. He quarterbacked from 1941 to 1943, with the '43 team playing in the Orange Bowl.
After a stint with the Navy, Mr. Doherty went back to football and coached under such greats as Leahy, Vince Lombardi and George Halas.
He head coached at a half dozen colleges, including Arizona State, from 1947 to 1950. His teams went to the Salad Bowl in 1949 and 1950 and he is in the Arizona State Hall of Fame.
His coaching stints included the University of Rhode Island, Xavier University, Andover High and Lawrence High. At the pro level, he was backfield coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Members of his family include his wife and nine children.
Ruth Grossman

Ruth (Piltch) Grossman, 74, of Salem, N.H., died Thursday, Dec. 30, at Salemhaven Nursing Home.
Mrs. Grossman was born and educated in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High. She lived in Lynn for 20 years and in Andover for 30 years.
Mrs. Grossman was a member of Temple Emanuel in Andover and a lifetime member of its Hadassah and Sisterhood.
Members of her family include her husband, Edward Grossman of Salem, N.H.; daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Peter Limbeck, also of Salem, Joyce and Brian Swedberg of Gardner and Linda and Dennis Bebar of Haverhill; sisters, Eve Glick of Brookline, Celia Primack of Haverhill and Ida Goldberg of Lowell; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Temple Emanuel. Burial was in Temple Emanu-El Cemetery in Lawrence.
Arrangements were by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill/Bradford.

Richard D. Sullivan

Richard D. Sullivan, 52, of Andover died Tuesday, Jan. 4, at his home.
Mr. Sullivan was born Aug. 8, 1947 in Boston.
He served in the US Navy Submarine Corps. He was employed as a chemical engineer.
Mr. Sullivan was a volunteer and umpire for Andover Little League.
He attended St. Theresa's Church in West Roxbury.
Members of his family include his wife, Christine M. (Scott) Sullivan of Andover; three sons, Jonathan, David and Richard Sullivan, all of Andover; his mother, Esther C. Sullivan of West Roxbury; six brothers and sisters, William Sullivan of Plymouth, Edward Sullivan of Dedham, his twin sister Dorothy Driscoll of West Roxbury, and Esther McGurk, James Sullivan and Charles Sullivan, all of West Roxbury; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Burke Funeral Home, 390 N. Main St., Andover.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at St. Theresa's Church, Centre Street, West Roxbury.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Church, West Roxbury.

John S. Emmert

John S. Emmert, 47, of Bradford died Monday, Jan. 10, at Hannah Dustin Health Care Center in Haverhil.
Mr. Emmert was born in Lawrence. He grew up in Andover and attended Andover High School.
Mr. Emmert was a crew chief in the Air Force during Vietnam.
He was a machine operator for Courier Printing in Westford.
Mr. Emmert was active in Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church in Melrose and made two missionary trips to Jamaica with the church. He did volunteer work at The Edge of the Jordan Christian Coffee House and His Provision, a program that provides meals to the homeless in Haverhill.
Members of his family include his wife of 21 years, Robin (Hanby) Emmert of Bradford; sons, John Emmert of Lynn and Ryan Emmert of Bradford; mother and stepfather, Jean (Strickland) Emmert Pack and Lucian Pack of Boyd, Texas; brothers, Frank C. Emmert, Paul R. Emmert, and David A. Emmert, all of Texas; two aunts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the father of the late Cassi Emmert.
Calling hours are scheduled for today, Thursday, Jan. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dewhirst & Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at Free Christian Church, Elm Street. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Margaret Dagan

Margaret (Ellis) Dagan, 91, of Andover died Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Lawrence General Hospital after a brief illness.
The former Oxon Hill, Md., resident was born in Haverhill. She graduated from St. James High School in 1925 and from Simmons College in 1929.
Mrs. Dagan spend two years in the Philippines as a civilian dietitian attached to the Army. She later worked at Walter Reed Hospital and retired in 1967 as chief dietitian at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Members of her family include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Dagan Kirley and James Kirley of Andover; sister, Lorraine Williams of North Billerica; and granddaughter, Karen Kirley of Andover.
She was the widow of Wilfred R. Dagan.
Private funeral services were held in Clinton, Md.
Arrangements were by Burke Funeral Home.
