Mary Asmega

Mary Asmega, 81, died Tuesday, April 25 at Holy Family Hospital.
Mrs. Asmega was born in Andover and graduated from Punchard High School. She lived in Methuen since 1957.
She was a housewife and a former member of St. Laurence O'Toole Roman Catholic Church in Lawrence.
She was the widow of Albert E. Asmega. Family members include sons and daughters-in-law, Albert E. Jr. and Dolores Asmega of Manchester, N.H., Richard J. and Maureen Asmega of Salem, N.H. and Robert and Gay Asmega of Dublin, Calif.; sisters Alice Tommasino of Methuen, Irene Mazzaglia of Haverhill, and Doris Coco of Methuen; brother Victor Shorten of Arlington, Va.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There were no calling hours. A Mass was celebrated Friday, April 28 at St. Monica Church in Methuen. Burial will follow at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen.

Victor Duxbury

Victor Duxbury, 81, of Hidden Road, died Sunday, April 30 at Hale Hospital in Haverhill.
Mr. Duxbury was born in Accrincton, England and he came to the Andover area in the 1960s from India, where he had managed a textile plant.
He last worked at the Ames Textile Mills in Lowell, where he was employed for more than 30 years.
He enjoyed bird watching, gardening and playing cards. He was a member of the Merrimack Valley Birding Association.
He was known for his excellent sense of humor, his family said.
Members of his family include his son, Craig Duxbury of Winter Park, Fla.; daughters, Jennifer Wilkinson and Jill Taylor, both of Accrincton, England; a brother, Lesile Duxbury of London, England; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.
There are no calling hours. Friends are invited to services tomorrow, Friday, May 5 at the Dewhirst & Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover.

Winthrop Newcomb

Winthrop Newcomb, 90, a former Andover resident for over 30 years, died April 26 at a hospital near his home in Hendersonville, N.C.
Mr. Newcomb was born and raised in Needham and spent his entire career working in the banking industry in Massachusetts.
He was a graduate of Bentley College and was president of the Essex Broadway Savings Bank in Lawrence. Before taking that position in 1962, he had been vice president and treasurer of the Andover Savings Bank in Andover.
Mr. Newcomb was a past president of the Massachusetts Association of Savings Bankers. He served in the 10th Mountain Division in World War II and was an avid birdwatcher and hiker.
Members of his family include his wife, Susan; daughters, Deborah N. Nightingale of Rowayton, Conn., Elizabeth N. Beth of Holden, and Karen Wesson of Washington, D.C.; sons, Winthrop H. Newcomb of Sudbury, Bruce McNeil of Farmington, Mich., and David McNeil of Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
His first wife, Elizabeth Holbrook, died in 1965.
A memorial service was held in Hendersonville on Saturday, April 29.

William F. Tammany

William Francis Tammany, 84, of New Port Richey, Fla., and formerly of Andover, died Saturday, May 6 at his home.
Mr. Tammany was born in Andover and he retired from the Andover Police Department in 1971 after 27 years of service. He was a sketch artist for the department and he drew the sketch of the Boston Strangler.
He was an Army veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Florida and was a member and past district deputy for Andover Council 1078 Knights of Columbus.
He was also a member of the Mass. State Police Association in Boston.
He was the widower of Margaret E. (Horgan) Tammany.
Family members include two grandsons, Kevin Lynch and his wife Kristine, and Brendan Lynch, all of Florida; a granddaughter, Bridget Lynch of Georgia; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Lynch of Florida; two nieces and three nephews. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Elizabeth M. Lynch; a brother, James B. Tammany; and a granddaughter, Nora Ann Lynch.
A funeral Mass was to be celebrated today, Thursday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Church. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Anna Marino

Anna (DiMino) Marino, a resident of Academy Manor Nursing Home, died May 6 at Holy Family Hospital.
Mrs. Marino was born and raised in Boston's North End, where she lived prior to moving to Andover 15 months ago. She attended Boston schools and attended Sacred Heart Church. She was a former North End Head Start teacher.
She was the widow of Peter Marino.
Family members include her children, James Marino of Andover, Marie Paglia of Lynnfield, Angela DeGrandis of Boston and Rita Caruso of Somerville; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Vitale of Somerville.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, May 9 in Sacred Heart Church, Boston.
Arrangements were by the Joseph A. Langone Jr. Funeral Home, 560 Commercial St., Boston.
Irene A. Donovan

Irene A. (Hoyt) Donovan, 97, a longtime Andover resident formerly of Frye Circle, died Friday, May 5 at the Hannah Dustin Nursing Home in Haverhill.
Mrs. Donovan was born and educated in Lawrence. She was a member of St. Augustine Church in Andover and the Andover Senior Center.
She enjoyed traveling and reading.
She was the widow of Andrew Vincent Donovan.
Family members include her son and his wife, Vincent and Grace Donovan of Derry, N.H.; a daughter and her husband, Marie and Charles Hurley of Andover; two brothers, William Hoyt of Salem, N.H. and Walter Hoyt of North Andover; a sister, Eunice Hanlon of Boston; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, May 8 at St. Augustine Church. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.

Eleanore M. Berryman

Eleanore M. (Lanagan) Berryman, 84, died Friday at the Wingate of Andover.
Mrs. Berryman was an assembler at Western Electric before she retired. She also worked at Central Catholic High and Scott Jewelers.
She was born and educated in Lawrence. She attended Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, N.H.
Members of her family include her son, William Berryman of Lawrence; daugther and son-in-law, Maureen M. and Eugene A. Zalla of Maine; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private and under the direction of Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen.
