Sarah "Shirley" (Galker) Soreff, 98, of 30 Railroad St., died Thursday, May 18 at home.
Born in Russia, she moved to New York when she was 2 and was educated in New York schools. She moved to Lawrence 75 years ago and lived in Andover for the past 15 years.
She was a life member of the Hadassah and also belonged to the Sisterhood of Congregation Tifereth Israel of Andover and B'nai B'rith Women.
Members of her family include her daughter, Jacqueline Kurman of Atkinson, N.H.; a sister, Tess Lovier, and a brother, David Galker, both of New York; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, May 21. Burial was in Tifereth Anshai Sfard Cemetery, Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made to Solomon Schechter School, 514 Main St., Haverhill.
Arrangements were by Goldman-Fisher Funeral Chapel in Malden.
John P.Y. Leng

John P.Y. Leng, 30, of Englewood Colo., formerly of Andover, died Saturday, May 20 in Colorado.
Mr. Leng graduated from Phillips Academy in 1987 and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1991 with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer in the information technology field.
Members of his family include his parents, Robert C.L. and Julie (Mah) Leng of Andover; a brother, Kenneth Leng of Boston; a sister, Jennifer Leng of New York City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be held today, Thursday, May 25 at 2 p.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Burke Funeral Home, 390 N. Main St., Andover.
Andras Polyak

Andras Polyak, 70, of Andover, died Friday, May 19 at Hospice House in Concord, N.H.
Born in Hungary, he worked as an electrical engineer at Raytheon, and retired in 1992. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and a former member of the Elks and Hungarian Association of Venice, Fla.
He was the widower of Eva M. (Harrer) and family members include a daughter, Joanne Polyak Stanton of Shreveport, La.; a grandson, Zachary Stanton of Louisiana; and companion, Beverly MacInnis of Bow, N.H.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, May 23 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church. Burial was in West Parish Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or to the charity of one's choice.

Mildred L. O'Neill

Mildred L. (Gullicksen) O'Neill, 84, of Railroad Street, died Wednesday, May 17 at Lawrence General Hospital. She was born in Boston and was a member of St. Augustine Church.
She enjoyed bowling and music, especially country music.
She was the widow of John E. O'Neill.
Members of her family include her daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Robert Tompkins of Derry, N.H., Rosemary and Philip Spitalere of North Andover and Joanne and Joseph Schembri of Methuen; brothers, Robert Gullicksen of Pembroke, Chester Gullicksen of Florida and Richard Gullicksen of Weymouth; a sister, Dorothy Cormier of Weymouth; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private.

Vurna Morgan

Vurna (Gilman) Morgan, 81, of Andover, died Thursday, May 18 at the Vencor North Shore Hospital in Peabody.
Born in Ashland, she graduated from Ashland High School and Longwood Hospital Nursing Program.
She attended St. Augustine Church in Andover.
Family members include her husband of 47 years, John G. Morgan; five sons, Paul Parsons of Easton, David Parsons of Phoenix, Ariz., John Parsons of Garden Grove, Calif., George Polinsky of Largo, Fla. and Daniel G. Morgan of Danvers; three daughters, Gloria Polinsky of Indiana, Ruth Marie Forbes of Roslindale, Juanita Singh of Andover; 23 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, May 22 at St. Augustine Church. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Margaret A. Heard

Margaret A. (Downs) Heard, 78, of Morton Street, died Thursday, May 18 at Holy Family Hospital.
Mrs. Heard was born in Lawrence and had been a lifelong resident of Andover. She was educated in the Andover schools and was a 1940 graduate of Punchard High School.
She had been employed with the United Shoe Machinery Co. of Boston and most recently with the Lawrence General Hospital before her retirement in 1986.
Mrs. Heard was a member of St. Augustine Church. She was a member for over 50 years and was past Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America of Court St. Monica at St. Augustine Church.
She was the widow of Thomas Heard. Members of her family include a stepson, Thomas P. Heard Jr. of Gales Ferry, Conn.; a sister, Rita A. (Downs) Domasinsky of Clinton, Maine; a brother and sister-in-law, William T. and Bernice Downs of Andover; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass was celebrated Tuesday, May 23 at St. Augustine Church. Cremation followed in Linwood Crematory in Haverhill.

Dorothy L. Parthum

Dorothy L. (Woodbury) Parthum, 86, of Andover, died Monday, May 22, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Mrs. Parthum was born in Beverly and educated in Lynn.
She belonged to the Andover Haven Associates, Andover Senior Center and was a volunteer at the American Red Cross.
She was the widow of Edward F. Parthum. Members of her family include several cousins.
A burial service will be held tomorrow, Friday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m. at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.

John E. Lecomte

John E. Lecomte, 68, of Andover, died Saturday, May 27 at home after a long illness.
He was born in Roxbury and educated in Medford. He graduated from Tufts University and earned a juris doctor degree, cum laude, from Boston University. While at Boston University, he was senior editor of the Law Review from 1957 to 1958.
Mr. Lecomte began practicing law in 1958. Most recently he served as consultant to the Daly, Kehoe and Crosson firm of Boston. A member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Trial Lawyers Association, he authored numerous articles and was a frequent speaker.
Mr. Lecomte formerly lived in Billerica, where he was town moderator from 1969 to 1972. He was founder of the Boys Club of Billerica. He moved to Andover in 1980.
Members of his family include his wife, Carol (Roche) Lecomte; daughters Judith and husband Ralph Velleca of Andover, Linda Lecomte of Andover and Carolyn and husband Robert O'Connor of Londonderry, N.H.; a son, John and his wife Kelly Lecomte of Winthrop; brother Eugene L. Lecomte of Billerica; and five grandchildren.
