Jack T. Woodworth

Jack T. Woodworth, 75, of Hampton, N.H., and formerly of Andover, died Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Seacoast Health Center.
Mr. Woodworth worked at his family business, Woodworth Motors in Andover, and later for Standard Oil. After his retirement, he worked at Rye Harbor and Odiorne Point State Park.
Born in Methuen, he graduated from Hebron Academy in Maine in 1943, where he excelled as a basketball and baseball star, and in 1950 from the University of Maine.
During World War II, he served in the Army and participated in the Invasion of Normandy. He received four battle stars.
Mr. Woodworth served on the board of directors of the United Fund, the Red Cross, was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a former president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Andover.
Members of his family include his wife, Geraldine (Gullion) Woodworth; two daughters, Paula Chapman of Moultonboro, N.H., and Jane Woodworth of Massachusetts; a son, Thornton M. Woodworth of North Andover; three stepdaughters, Paula Courchene of Portsmouth, N.H., Sandra Acox and Brenda Keatley, both of Hampton, N.H.; two stepsons, Bryant Keatley of Woburn, and Robert Keatley of Somerville; and 14 grandchildren.

William Benson

William Benson, 85, a longtime Andover resident, died Friday, Sept. 15 at Lawrence General Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Benson retired from Converse Co. after 40 years. He served in the Army during World War II in the 168th Combat Engineer Battalion, and was captured by German forces during service in France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
He received the Croix de Guerre by the Belgian government, two Purple Hearts, Legion of Merit, Good Conduct Medal and Prisoner of War Medal.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and enjoyed sports, baseball and swimming.
Members of his family include his wife, Elizabeth (Alekel) Benson; two sons, Pat J. Benson of Lawrence and William J. Benson of Andover; two daughters and their husbands, Marian and Robert Fradette of Andover, and Ruth and Thomas Parker of Fort Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Farrah Funeral Home, 170 Lawrence St., Lawrence, with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Mary C. (McDermott) McConaghy, 90, of Lawrence, died Sunday, Sept. 17 at Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover.
Mrs. McConaghy was a retired supervisor for ITT Corp. in Lawrence.
She was born in Lawrence. After retiring, she lived in Andover, Anaheim, Calif., and most recently lived in Plano, Texas.
She was the widow of Daniel McConaghy. Members of her family include three daughters, Patricia A. Morley of Tigard, Ore., Dorothy E. and her husband Eddie E. Moore of Richardson, Texas, and Rita and her husband, James P. Dziadosz of Methuen; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel E. and Adele of North Andover; a sister, Rita Hannagan of Lawrence; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence.
A Mass was to be celebrated today, Thursday, Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Lawrence.
Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Eugene V. "Gino" Zaffini, 56, of Andover, died Friday, Sept. 15 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Needham, Mr. Zaffini was a member of St. Augustine Church.
Members of his family include his wife, Geraldine "Jay" (Bucchino) Zaffini; a son, Scott Zaffini of Brighton; a daughter, Nicole Zaffini of Andover; his father, Victor Zaffini of Needham and Oldsmar, Fla.; a brother, Paul Zaffini of Bow, N.H.; a sister, Ann Demner, also of Oldsmar; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred A. Westfall

Mildred A. (Kilcup) Westfall, 88, of Andover, died Monday, Sept. 18 at Lawrence General Hospital.
She was born in Roxbury, and graduated from Brookline High School and the Katherine Gibbs School.
Mrs. Westfall was a claims adjuster at the Government Employers Insurance Co. for 20 years, and later at Smart and Flagg Insurance Co., now Fred C. Church, until she retired.
She was a volunteer in the social service department at Lawrence General for more than 10 years. She was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church in Andover, where she served as president of the Friendly Guild.
She was the widow of Leslie D. Westfall. Members of her family include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lesley and Paul Whitley of Andover, Leila and Richard Leland of South Berwick, Maine, and Linda and Spencer Jewett of Denver, Colo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence D. and Valerie Westfall of Bradenton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
There were no calling hours.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 25 Central St., Andover. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Robert James DeRosa, 57, of Andover, died Saturday, Sept. 16 at All Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell.
Born in Revere and raised in Everett, Mr. DeRosa moved to greater Andover 31 years ago.
Members of his family include his wife, Barbara L. (Thomas) DeRosa; a son, Scott DeRosa of Worcester; and three daughters, Christine and husband Theodore Chesbrough of Tewksbury, and Leanne and Diane DeRosa, both of Andover.

Thomas R. Pepin, 37, of Andover, died Monday, Sept. 25 at Lawrence General Hospital.
He worked at Vicor Corp. of Andover for 16 years.
Born in Methuen, he graduated from Greater Lawrence Technical School in 1980. Nearly 20 years later, he enrolled at Merrimack College and graduated magna cum laude last May with a degree in electrical engineering and was the recipient of the Outstanding Academic Achievement President's Award.
Members of his family include his wife, Andrea M. (DeMatteo) Pepin; a daughter, Stephanie M. Pepin; a son, Russell N. Pepin, all of Andover; his parents, MaryJane (Bedard) and Richard Pepin of Methuen; sisters, Sheila Blache of Sandown, N.H., Shirley Kalil of Lawrence, and Sharon Blanche of Londonderry, N.H.; brothers, Richard Pepin of Florida and Jeffrey Pepin of Methuen; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Owned Sutton Sweets with her late husband
Alma Deveau Curry, 96, formerly of Andover, died Sunday, Sept. 17 at Morton Hospital in Taunton.
She was born in Nova Scotia, moved to Lynn and later moved to Andover in 1942. Along with her late husband, Justin Richard Curry, she owned and operated Sutton Sweets.
In her retirement, she enjoyed being a nanny and volunteering at the Andover Thrift Store.
Members of her family include three sons, James Curry of Andover, Henry Curry of Marietta, Ga., and Justin Curry of Westfield; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn.
