John J. Quill, 75, formerly of Lowell, died in Lauderdale by the Sea, Fla. on Sunday, Feb. 11.
He was born in Andover and graduated from Central Catholic High School. He attended Boston College. During World War II, he attended Middlebury College in Vermont and served aboard the USS L.S.M. 435 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He had been employed as a manager by the Lowell Gas Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987 and moving to Florida.
Members of his family include his wife of 54 years, Isabel (Anderson) Quill; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Linda Quill of Lowell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and William Degnan of Tewksbury, Barbara and Wayne Burgett and Kathleen and David Gwiazda, all of Lowell; two sisters, Kathleen Quill and Barbara Quill, both of Andover; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was also the father of the late John J. "Zippy" Quill and Noreen Kasilowski.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 16 at the Mahoney Funeral Home, 187 Nesmith St., (Rte. 38), Lowell. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 16 at St. Joseph Lithuanian Church, Lowell. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
Friends may call today, Thursday, Feb. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rita G. Christie

Rita (Jasonides) G. Christie, 91, formerly of Andover, and North Andover, and a longtime resident of Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem, N.H., died Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Born in Politsani, Northern Epirus, Greece, she moved to this country when she was 11 and settled in New Bedford with her family. As a teen-ager, she was a cloth inspector at the Pacific Mills.
Mrs. Christie and her husband moved to Andover in 1929. They ran Andover Lunch for 15 years, and later she worked at the lunch counter at Trafie's in Methuen.
She and her husband were among the founders of the parish of Sts. Constantine and Helen Parish in Lawrence, now located in Andover, and she was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She also attended St. Gregory Armenian Church in North Andover and was a member of the Andover chapter of Order of Eastern Star.
She was the widow of Gregory Christie, and members of her family include a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Cynthia Christie of Andover; daughters, Dorothy Malliaros of Methuen, and Bessie and her husband Charles Liponis of Andover; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are today, Thursday, Feb. 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Breen Funeral Home, 35 Merrimack St., North Andover.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 71 Chandler Road. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Lillian H. Abdo

Lillian H. Abdo, 75, formerly of Lawrence, died Saturday, Feb. 10 at Academy Manor Nursing Home.
Born and educated in Lawrence, Ms. Abdo worked for many years at Western Electric Corp. and AT&T of North Andover, retiring in 1987. She was an active member of the Lawrence Senior Citizens Center, and enjoyed traveling, dancing, music, and spending time with her family.
Members of her family include her sister Diana Nolet of Holiday, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Kirk Raymond Orrell

Kirk Raymond Orrell, 35, of Charlotte, N.C., died Thursday, Feb. 15 at Carolinas Medical Center.
Mr. Orrell was the son of of Raymond B. and Audrey L. Orrell of Andover. He was a 1984 graduate of Phillips Academy and graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C. in 1988.
He worked for Clariant Corp. for the past nine years. Most recently, he was the business manager for Clariant's North American Cellulose Ethers and Polymeristates division. Prior to that, he was director of materials management for Clariant North America.
In addition to his parents, members of his family include his wife, Katherine Price Orrell; a daughter, Emily Elizabeth Orrell, both of Charlotte; two brothers, Jeffrey Paul Orrell and Todd Douglas Orrell, both of Andover; one niece; and one nephew. He was also the brother of the late Mark Peter Orrell.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at New England Bible Church, 60 Chandler Road. Call 475-4381 for more information.

Daniel J. Worcester

Daniel James Worcester, 69, of Warner, N.H. and formerly of Andover, died Monday, Feb. 12 at Concord Hospital in Concord, N.H.
Mr. Worcester was born in Andover and was an educator in public schools.
Members of his family include three sons and daughter-in-laws, Mark and Edie Worcester of Whitefield, N.H., Stephan and Terri Worcester of Junction City, Calif., and David and Debbie Worcester of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Ken Hill of Buxton, Maine; four grandchildren; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews.
There were no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church, Central Street, Andover.

Ralph O. Harnden

Ralph O. Harnden, 85, formerly of Andover, died Friday, Feb. 16 at Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly. Born and educated in Haverhill, Mr. Harnden lived in Andover from 1951 to 1999. He was an aircraft mechanic at Otis and Hanscom Air Force bases.
He also worked for Brockway-Smith Co.
Mr. Harnden served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, attaining the rank of tech sergeant. He enjoyed spending time with his family and tending his fruit, vegetable and flower garden.
He was the widower of Jacqueline (Charbonneau) Harnden and members of his family include two daughters, Marjorie Harnden of Bradford, and Mary and husband Chris Murch of Rockport; a son, Joseph H. and wife Carol Harnden of Dracut; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Salvatore J. Girgenti

Salvatore J. Girgenti, 87, formerly of North Andover, died Saturday, Feb. 17 at Academy Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Girgenti was a machinist at Western Electric, now Lucent Technologies, in North Andover, for more than 25 years.
He was born and educated in Lawrence. He was a clarinetist, playing for the Bellini and Colonial marching bands.
During World War II, Mr. Girgenti served in the Army. He was a member of the Methuen Knights of Columbus and St. Michael Church in North Andover.
He was the widower of Angelina (DiPrima) Girgenti, and members of his family include sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel S. and Gerri Girgenti of Methuen, and David and Sheila Girgenti of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and William Lasonde of Methuen; sisters, Constance Girgenti and Nellie Higgins, both of Methuen; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth I. Duffy

Elizabeth I. (Morache) Duffy, 97, of Andover, died Wednesday, Feb. 14 at home.
Mrs. Duffy was in the real estate business for several years, a member of the Greater Lawrence Board of Realtors Inc., and eventually formed her own company, Betty Duffy Realtor.
Born in Lawrence, she graduated from Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen and attended MacIntosh Business School in Lawrence. She lived in Andover for the last 50 years.
Mrs. Duffy attended St. Augustine's Church. She was a member of Shawsheen Women's Club, St. Clare League of Catholic Women, and other charitable groups.
She was the widow of Joseph T. Duffy
Members of her family include a son, Joseph G. Duffy of Andover; a sister, Helen L. Dearden of Rye, N.H.; a daughter-in-law, Joan Duffy of Haverhill; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
