Diane J. (Langevin) O'Donohue, 47, of Methuen, died Monday, April 9 at Holy Family Hospital.
Born in Methuen, she graduated from Andover High School.
Mrs. O'Donohue was a solderer at Raytheon Co. in Andover.
Members of her family include her son, Brendan O'Donohue of Boston; mother, Edna (Zaleski) Langevin of Andover; brothers, Albert Langevin of ChulaVista, Calif., and Richard Langevin of Freemont, Calif.; sister, Sharon Long of Pineville, N.C.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are today, Thursday, April 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Arthur J. Scott Funeral Home, 298 S. Broadway, Lawrence, followed by graveside services and burial at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery.

Hertha M. Rath

Hertha M. (Anderlik) Rath, 81, of Springfield, formerly of Andover and Bradford, died Friday, April 13, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Vienna, Austria, where she was educated and graduated from Nursing School there.
She moved to the U.S. in 1951 and was employed as a nurse in the maternity ward at Wesson Hospital in Springfield.
She owned and directed Cinderella Day Nursery in Springfield for for more than 25 years before retiring in 1987.
While in Springfield she was a member of Kodimoh Synagogue.
After her retirement she resided in Bradford for 2 years and then resided in Andover from 1991 to 1999.
She was the widow of Solomon Rath, who died in 1990.
Members of her family include her daughter, Gail R. and husband Mark A. Feigenbaum of Andover; son David J. Rath of Los Angeles, Calif.; and two grandsons.
She was the grandmother of the late Max D. Feigenbaum.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Temple Emanuel in Andover. Burial was in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill.
A memorial period was held at her daughter's home tonight through Monday evening.

Elizabeth M. Bell

Elizabeth May (Shorten) Bell, 84, formerly of Elm Street, died Thursday, April 12, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Andover, Mrs. Bell was a payroll clerk for 33 years for the Andover treasurer's office.
She was a longtime member of Free Christian Church and volunteered for many church activities, including the day-care center. She also volunteered at the Andover Historical Society.
Mrs. Bell and her dog, Rikki Gretchen, were featured in the mural at the former Ford's Coffee Shop on Main Street, and she was also featured with her dog and antique car in an article in the Andover Townsman.
She was the widow of Dr. James Bell.
Members of her family include her stepson, Charles Bell of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law Adelaide Shorten of Andover; and several cousins.
Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Dewhirst & Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St.

Barbara D. Wilson

Barbara D. Wilson, 82, of North Andover died at Prescott Nursing Home in North Andover on Sunday, April 8, after a long illness.
She was born in Ravenna, Ohio on Dec. 4, 1918.
Mrs. Wilson was a graduate of Bellaire High School, Bellaire, Ohio, class of 1935, and also of Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1939.
In 1942, she and Walter C. Wilson Jr. were married in Bellaire, and moved to Massachusetts when he enlisted in the service.
She endured multiple sclerosis for more than 50 years. Mrs. Wilson cofounded the Merrimack Valley ATOMS (Action To Overcome Multiple Sclerosis), served as the Vice President of Lawrence General Hospital Aid Association and was a member of the West Parish Church and choir in Andover.
In her younger years, she was active in the Shawsheen Village Women's Club, particularly the stage plays in which she had major parts.
Her family said she always lived by the saying, "I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today."
Members of her family include her husband of 59 years, Walter C. Wilson Jr.; her daughter, Joanne Vietor of Methuen; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at West Parish Church, 129 Reservation Road.

Esther D. Downs

Esther D. Downs, 91, died Tuesday, April 10, in Plano, Texas.
She was born on May 12, 1901 in Hampstead, N.H., to Frank and Clara Darling.
Mrs. Downs graduated from high school in 1927, and continued her education at Rhode Island Hospital Nursing School.
Mrs. Downs received her degree in nursing in 1930. On Sept. 6, 1936 she married Walter S. Downs Jr.
"Esther was a beloved mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed," her family said.
Mrs. Downs was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Walter S. Downs Jr., and daughter Marianne Staples.
Members of her family include her son, Scott Downs and wife Laurie Christine Downs of Plano; grandchildren, Kate Downs of Framingham, Mass., Timothy Downs, Alice Downs, and Lori Downs, all of Plano, and Chris Staples of Hahira, Ga.; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Friday, April 20 at 1 p.m. at Hart Wallace Funeral Home in South Lawrence.
Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.

Frederick A. Peterson

Frederick "Pete" A. Peterson, 85, formerly of Phillips Academy, died of Alzheimer's disease Friday, April 20, at the Sunrise Assisted Living at Gardner Park in Peabody.
He was the husband of Elisabeth "Betsy" (Thomas) and the late Nancy Lee (Burnett) Peterson.
Born in Pittsfield, the son of the late Frederick A. and Madeleine (Harrington) Peterson, he was a resident of Boston and Thompson Lake, Maine.
Mr. Peterson attended Pittsfield public schools through 9th grade.
He then went on to graduate from Phillips Academy in 1934 and was secretary of the class of 1934.
He attended Yale College from 1934-38, where he played varsity football. He was a senior aide of Jonathan Edwards College where he captained J.E. Championship crew in 1938. He was a member of Chi Psi and Berzelius and majored in English and history. He attended King's College in Cambridge, England from 1938-39, where he read in medieval economic history. He rowed for several teams, including King's College at Henley in 1939.
He taught English and history at St. Mark's School in Southborough from 1938 to 1941.
Mr. Peterson married the late Nancy Lee (Burnette) Peterson in 1942 in Southborough.
He served in the US Navy in Washington, D.C. and as gunnery officer on the USS Tinsman DE589 from 1941 to 1946; demobilized as Lieutenant Commander in 1946. He was in the Active Naval Reserve from 1946 to 1962, commanding battalion 1-5 of Lawrence and retiring as captain in 1962.
He received an MA degree from Harvard University in 1946.
He taught English at Phillips Academy from 1946 to 1981; there he was director of the Andover Summer Session from 1965 to 1968 and was the director of research and evaluation from 1969 to 1974. He was a co-founder of the Thompson Lake Environmental Association in 1972 and served as president from 1978 to 1988.
In 1975 he co-founded the Thompson Lake Sailing Club and was regatta chairman and director for many years.
He married Elisabeth "Betsy" McClure Thomas Peterson in 1978.
He served as chairman of the 200th anniversary celebration at Phillips Academy. He was vice president of the Day Sailor Association in 1980, executive vice president in 1983 and became president in 1986. He was director of the Yale Club of Boston in 1982.
In addition to his wife, members of his family include two sons and a daughter in-law, Robert B. Peterson of Arlington and John T. and Lisa Peterson of Jupiter, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Lee Peterson of Hamilton; a sister, Anne Castaldo of Oswego, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Kendal, Robert and Marcia Peterson.
A memorial service will be held in the Cochran Chapel at Phillips Academy, 180 Main St., tomorrow, Friday, April 27, at 3 p.m.
