Frank W. Atwood, 78, of Andover, died Saturday, April 28 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born and educated in Lawrence, Mr. Atwood worked as an electrician at Western Electric Corp. of North Andover for more than 20 years. He enjoyed playing bingo and horse racing.
Mr. Atwood served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of Marsh Corner Church in Methuen.
He was the widower of Alberta (Trussell) Atwood, and members of his family include daughters, Sandra and husband David Bowden of New York, Linda Reardon of Methuen, Susan Robichaud of Merrimac, Barbara and husband Fred Lumb of North Andover, Christine Atwood of Andover, and Brenda and husband Jerry St. Cyr of North Andover; sons, Frank Atwood Jr. and wife Diane, Gary Atwood and wife Pat of Hudson, N.H., Mark Atwood and Bruce Atwood of Methuen, Vinny Atwood of Billerica, and James Atwood and wife Lisa of Londonderry, N.H.; close friend, Connie Dugumboy of Andover; 26 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph F. Lamontagne

Joseph F. "Frank" Lamontagne, 74, of Lawrence, died Friday, April 27 at his daughter's home in Epping, N.H.
Born in Andover, Mr. Lamontagne worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at Lawrence General Hospital Detoxification Center, Baldpate Hospital in Georgetown, Hampstead (N.H.) Hospital and Seaborne Hospital in Dover, N.H.
Mr. Lamontagne served in the Army during World War II, earning a Purple Heart. He was an avid gardener and a member of the Milton, N.H. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Members of his family include his wife, Ruth (Bilodeau) Lamontagne of North Andover; sons, Keith Lamontagne of Atkinson, N.H., and Kevin Lamontagne of Lawrence; daughter, Kathleen and her husband, Robert Lewis of Epping; brothers,Wilfred Lamontagneof Lawrence and Wilbur Lamontagne of Andover; sisters, Jeanette Quintal and Rita Pare, both of Lawrence, and Simone Kijanka of Haverhill; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

William E. Moriarty

William E. Moriarty, 75, of North Andover and formerly of Andover, died Saturday, April 28 at Lawrence General Hospital after a long illness.
Born and raised in Cambridge, Mr. Moriarty graduated from Boston College. At age 35, he served as president of Atlantic Cooperative Bank, one of the youngest bank presidents in the state. He served in the same capacity for Lawrence Cooperative Bank, and retired in 1997 as vice president and treasurer for North Cambridge Cooperative Bank.
Mr. Moriarty served in the Army during World War II as a sergeant in the South Pacific. He was treasurer of the Massachusetts Cooperative Bank League, president of Lawrence Kiwanis Club, Lawrence Jaycees and Andover Catholic Men's Club, and was director of the Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.
He was the widower of Terese O. (O'Brien) Moriarty, and family members include his his companion, Judith A. Kellerer; daughters, M. Jane and partner Judy Wohl of Cumberland, Maine, and Anne F. and husband James Kachulis of North Andover; sons and their wives, John M. and Juana Moriarty of Derry, N.H.; William E. and Maripat Moriarty of Andover, Mark G. and Linda Moriarty of Salem, N.H., Stephen G. and Amy Moriarty of Falmouth, and Brien J. and Veronica Moriarty of Charlestown; sisters, Mary Boudreau of Newton and Eleanor Burns of Middleton, R.I.; brother, Edward C. Moriarty of Falmouth; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris M. Skinkle

Doris M. (Eaton) Skinkle, 96, of Andover, died Tuesday, May 1 in a local nursing home.
Born and educated in Billerica, she was a longtime Andover resident who lived at Washington Park for several years.
Mrs. Skinkle was a member of South Church, where she was a member of the Two and One Club and was also active in bible study.
She was the widow of John Skinkle and Bertrand Midgeley.
Members of her family include two nephews, Albert B. Dean of Melrose and David Colt of North Hampton, N.H.; and two nieces, Jeanne Batchelder of Exeter, N.H. and Barbara Colt of California.
Arrangements were by Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose.
Paul G. Buss

The family of Paul George Buss, a 1940 graduate of Punchard High School, reported this week that Mr. Buss died at his home in Aurora, Colo. on Oct. 27, 2000.
Mr. Buss served with the US Navy and was a senior photographer for 20 years.
During World War II, he was attached to the carrier Fanshaw Bay, which saw action in the South Pacific and was in the battles of Leyte Gulf and Midway.
After the war, he received a bachelor's degree in education from Denver University and taught in Aurora for many years.
His last visit to Andover was in 1990 to attend the 50th anniversary of his high school graduation.
Members of his family include his wife, Maria; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Donald Stengaard and three grandchildren, all of Aurora; and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Elizabeth) Collins and Mrs. Thomas (Agnes) Harris of Andover. He was also the brother of the late James, John, Arthur and George Buss.
He was buried with full military honors from St. Pius Church in Aurora.
Donald M. Strobel

Donald Matthew Strobel, 70, of Andover, died Monday, May 7 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Mr. Strobel served in the Army during the Korean War.
Members of his family include his wife, Delia (Enwright) Strobel; daughters, Karen and her husband William Young of North Andover, Catherine Barry of Manchester, N.H., and Nancy and her husband Edward Cronin of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Nancy Strobel of Derry, N.H.; and five grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be at the family's convenience.

Paul R. Essiambre

Paul R. "Rollie" Essiambre, 87, of Andover, died Saturday, May 12 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Mr. Essiambre worked for General Electric Co. of Lynn before he retired.
Born and educated in Lynn, he lived in Andover for the last 45 years.
During World War II, Mr. Essiambre served in the Navy in the European Theater and in the Pacific.
He was a member of St. Augustine Church.
Members of his family include his wife, Ruth (Harold) Essiambre; daughters, Jo-Anne and her husband Anthony DiIeso of Ijamsville, Md., Mary Ellen Essiambre of Petaluma, Calif., and Paula R. Essiambre of Pompano Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are today, Thursday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Charles Dewhirst, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 33 Pearson St.
A Mass will be celebrated today, Thursday, May 17 at 1 p.m. at St. Augustine's Church. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Milton Greenberg

Milton Greenberg, 83, of Tucson, Ariz. and formerly of Andover, died April 22.
Mr. Greenberg was chairman of the Andover Board of Selectmen in the 1970s. He formerly lived on Sagamore Drive before moving to Arizona.
He was born in Carteret, N.J.
Members of his family include his wife, Maxine; one daughter, Eva Greenberg and son-in-law, James H. Lewandowski; two sons, David and his wife, Ann Greenberg and Alan Greenberg; six grandchildren; and a sister, Myreal.
Funeral services were private.
