He leaves his wife of 39 years, Thalia (Tsiokas) McGrath, a brother, Paul McGrath of Worcester, and two sisters, Margaret McCarthy of Spencer and Pauline Westergaard of Torrance, CA., nieces and nephews. Born in Westbrook, Maine, he was the son of Mary (Powers)Martin and Henry McGrath. He served 22 years as chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1968. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and served on the destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy when it was recommissioned. Funeral services were private. After cremation burial will held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Central Mass. Worcester - Rita B. McGrath,69 of 9 Phoebe Way, formerly of 705 Glen Allen Drive, Baltimore, MD died Sunday, November 12 at Notre Dame Long Term Care Facility. She leaves her mother, Rita M. McGrath of Worcester ; a brother Brian T. McGrath of Worcester; six nephews; 3 grand-nephews; 5 grand- nieces. She was born in Worcester daughter of Bernard V. McGrath and attended the former Dix Street School before moving to New York in 1945. She was a graduate of Walton High School, Bronx,NY and a 1953 graduate from Hunter College with a degree in Politcal Science. During college she was member of the Newman club and President of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. She sang contalto leads in 'H.M.S. Pinafore', 'Mikado', 'Yoeman of the Guard', 'Gondoliers' and ' Rutagore'. Ms. McGrath worked for Bloomingdales,Decca Records and N.Y.S. Workers Compensation. She moved to Baltimore, MD in 1967 where she worked for the Social Security Department, retiring in 1995 as the director of the Medicare Coverage Division. She was chief cantor and choir director at St. Laurence Church in Baltimore,MD and President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a Patron of the New York Metropolitain and Baltimore Operas and a generous supporter of several charitable organizations. The funeral was Saturday, November 18, with a Mass in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. There are no Calling hours. After cremation burial will be at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery in Hopkinton, Ma. Worcester - Rita M. (Garrepy) McGrath, 94, of 9 Phoebe Way, previously of 705 Glen Allen Dr., Baltimore, MD, died Friday May 4 at the Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center, West Boylston. Her husband, Bernard V. McGrath, an outstanding Worcester athlete, died in 1961 and her daughter Rita B. McGrath with whom she lived died at the age of 69 this past November. She leaves her son Brian T. McGrath of Worcester, two brothers, William Garrepy of Worcester and Leo Garrepy of Enfield, CT, two sisters, Frances Donahue of Shrewsbury and Katherine Carrol of Worcester, six grandsons and eight great grandchildren. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Archibald and Catherine (Hearns) Garrepy. A graduate of Commerce High School, she was an accomplished singer and a member of the St. Paul's Choir. She moved to New York City in 1944 and lived there for 23 years before moving to Baltimore in 1967, where she lived for 33 years prior to returning to Worcester in August 2000. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service in the Statistics Department in NYC until retiring in 1957. In Baltimore she was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The funeral was Tuesday May 8 with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Hopkinton. Her Sister Margaret McInerney died in 1996. She leaves several cousins. Born in Worcester Daughter of Martin F. and Margaret (Fitzgibbons) McInerney , she lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Worcester State Teachers College where she received a Masters in Education Miss McInerney taught in the Worcester public schools for many years at Rice Square school and Grafton St. Junior High School. She was a member of Christ the King Church and The Retired Massachusetts Teacher Assocation. George P. Merrill, 86, retired police officer

WORCESTER - George P,"Chick" Merrill, 86, of 97 Waterford Drive, and Seafteld Road, Dennisport, a retired Worcester police officer, died at the Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road, after a long illness. His wife of 42 years, Albena (Akasten) Merrill, died in 1988. He leaves a daughter, Nancy A. Merrill, with whom he lived; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Patrick and Julia (Lynch) Merrill, and lived here most of his life. He was a gradu- Mr. Merrill ate of St. John's High School, where he was a basketball star. He went on to coach the basketball team at Sacred Heart Academy to the Catholic City Championship in 1935. A W. W. H veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, he served in the U.S., New Guinea, the Philippines and later Japan. Mr. Merrill was a Worcester police officer for more than 30 years. He was first -assigned to Precinct 11 on Lamartine Street and later worked in the traffic division as a traffic enforcer and accident investigator. He retired in 1978. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish for the past 14 years and a member of the Worcester Police Relief Association, the Fire and Police Retirement Association, the Veteran of Foreign Wars South Works Post#3617, theKnights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88, the St. John's High School Alumni Association, and The Worcester Boys Club Alumni Association for many years. The funeral Mass was held in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Worcester - George J. Moore, 95, formerly of Wiltshire Dr., died Tuesday, Jan. 30 in the Center for Optimum Care in Falmouth. He leaves two daughters, Irene J. McHenry of Wake Forest, NC., and Suzanne M. Patrick of Mashpee, MA., 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His wife, Rose (Marrone) Moore died in 1995. Born in Clinton, he was the son of Peter and Katherine (Cannon) Moore and lived in Worcester most of his life. He was a graduate of South High School. He worked as Merchandising Manager at the former Coghlin Furniture Store on Main St. for 52 years retiring in 1972. He was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Church, a member of the Alhambra Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Worcester Chamber of Commerce, and the Sales Executives Club. Mr. Moore was an avid gardener. The funeral will be Saturday February 3, from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There will be a calling hour Saturday Feb. 3 at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Worcester - Julie A. Morrissey, of 5 Earle St. was stricken ill at home and died Saturday Dec. 9 at U. Mass. Hospital, Memorial Campus. She is survived by her father Daniel J. Morrissey Sr., five brothers, Joseph Cesaitis of Oxford, Paul, Robert, and Gary Cesaitis and Kevin Morrissey all of Worcester; three sisters, Kathleen Bitzas, Mary Ellen Nuzzetti and Patricia Morrissey all of Worcester; her maternal grandmother, Antionette Ciccone of Worcester; four Godchildren, many nieces and nephews. Her mother, Mary A. (DiPadua) Morrissey died in 1997, a brother Daniel J. Morrissey Jr. of Worcester died in 1988. Ms. Morrissey worked in the Medical Management department of the University of Massachusetts Hospital - Memorial Campus for 22 years. She graduated from North High School in 1978 and attended Quinsigamund Community College. Moshier and stepmother, Susan Moshier of Sandwich and his mother, Catherine A. Gingras of Milford, a brother, James Moshier of Woonsocket, R.I. a sister, Jennifer L. Moshier of Barre, his maternal grandparents, Anthony and Guilda Tieuli of Milford and his paternal grandmother,Frances (Moshier) McManus of Martha's Vineyard, and his fiancee Christine O'Neil of Milford. He was born in Milford and graduated from Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational High School in 1986. He worked as a painter for Four Seasons Company of Milford and previously was a cook and caterer for Jean's Catering Service of Milford. Mr. Moshier was an avid artist and enjoyed cooking. There was Memorial Mass on Monday Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in Sacred Heartof Jesus Church, 5 East Main St., Milford. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Her husband, Walter Muise died before her. Born in Chelsea, MA., she was the daughter of Joseph and Stella (Kovalski) Prasol and lived in Worcester for many years. Murphy of Dorchester, and 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Joseph F. Murphy died in 1992, her daughter, Mary Ellen Flood in 1997, her twin sister, Mary Creaven in 1938 and a brother, John J. Creaven in 1995. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Patrick and Ellen (Dixon) Creaven and lived here all her life. She worked for the former Telecrom Company, a division of General Electric Co. for more than 30 years, retiring many years ago. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the United Electrical Workers Union Local #205 and a long time member of St. Paul's Cathedral. Niles of Worcester, a brother, Sam Watson of Gainesville, GA., three sisters, Nellie Watson and Katie Sue Chatman, both of Gainesville, GA. and Gussie Kelly of Roosevelt, NY., nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband of 35 years, Coley Niles died in 1990. Three brothers, Woodrow, Z.T. and James Herschel Watson, all of Gainesville, Ga. predeceased her. Born in Gainesville, GA., she was the daughter of Charlie and Odessa Watson and lived there for many years. She moved to Worcester in 1992. Mrs. Niles did domestic work in private homes for 30 years retiring in 1986. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed fishing. After cremation burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Nugent, both of Worcester; two daughters, Mary P. Sacco and Catherine A. Mulcahy, both of Worcester; eight grandchildren and 12 great -grandchildren. A sister Alice Anderson formerly of Northboro died in 1994. She was born in Clinton daughter of Henry E. and Annie( Reilly) Raine and moved to Worcester as young child. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1922. Mrs. Nugent worked at the H.H. Brown Shoe Company as a switchboard operator for 30 years and retired when the plant closed in 1979. Prior to working at the shoe company Mrs. Nugent work at the New England Telephone & Telegraph for nearly 20 years. She was a longtime member of St. Peter's Parish. Mrs. Nugent was an avid card player and enjoyed traveling and working with ceramics. Ms. O'Brien worked for Delta Airlines for 30 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Delta pioneers. He was a graduate of Holy Name School, Worcester, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and the New York School of Podiatric Medicine in New York City. Dr. O'Brien did his residency in the Boston area and was in practice for 18 years with an office on Grafton St., Worcester. He was a member of the American Podiatric Medicine Association and was active in the Shrewsbury Little League. He leaves his wife of 13 years, Diane C. (Dubois) O'Brien, a son Michael T. O'Brien and a daughter, Michelle J. O'Brien, all of Shrewsbury, his father, Thomas W. O'Brien, of Worcester, a brother, James E. O'Brien of Worcester, and a sister, Jane F. Hughes, of Andover, MA., uncles, aunts, three nephews and a niece. Harrow of Worcester, a brother, Michael J. O'Connell, Jr. of Worcester with whom he lived, three sisters, Mary G. Lindgren, Ruth E. Jigarjian, and Margaret R. O'Day, all of Worcester, many nieces and nephews. Another Brother, Paul M. O'Connell of Worcester died in 1988. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Michael J. and Sarah E. (MacDonald) O'Connell and lived here most of his life. A W.W. II Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient, he served in Normandy, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. Mr. O'Connell worked as a plater for 20 years at the New England Plating Company of Worcester, retiring in 1988. He was a member and past Commander of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3657 and a member of La Societe Des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux of Worcester #1113. She leaves a niece, Carol Moore of Worcester, two nephews, Paul Frende of San Francisco and Bernard O'Connor of England, grandnieces and grand nephews and great grand nieces and great grand nephews. Her sister Florence G. O'Connor died in 1998. Her twin sister, Margaret O'Connor died in 1984. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Margaret (Coffey) O'Connor and lived here all her life. She worked for U.S. Envelope Company for 26 years retiring in 1969. She was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral. WORCESTER -The Rev. Francis A. O'Connor, 97, a retired Catholic priest who mainly worked in the Springfield area, formerly of 22 Fiske St., died in Beverly Healthcare Hermitage after an illness. He leaves a sister, Agnes T. O'Connor of Worcester. He was born in Gilbertville, son of Michael and Mary (Broderick) O'Connor. He graduated from St. John's High School in 1920 and from the College of the Holy Cross in 1924. He received his religious training at Sulpician Seminary, Washington, D,C., and was ordained June 2,1928, in St. Michael's Cathedral. The Rev. O'Connor served as a curate at St. Mary's Church in Haydenville, and also served at St. Mary's Church in Westfield, St. Thomas Church in Springfield, St. Mary's Church in Pittsfield, and Holy Cross Church, Holyoke. He was chaplain at the Springfield House of Good Shepherd. He later became an administrator at St. Mary's Church, Thorndike, and served as pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church in Northampton. After retiring in 1979 he became administrator at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown, He also served at St. Mary's Church, Turners Falls. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery. Loretta J. (Giblin) O'Neil - 89

Westboro - Loretta J. (Giblin) O'Neil, 89, of 3 Oldham Rd., formerly of Richards St., Worcester, died Tuesday, July 18 at the Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center. She leaves a son, Richard E. O'Neil of Leicester and a daughter, Eleanor Clifford of Westboro, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Her husband of 42 years, Everett A. O'Neil, died in 1976. Born in Worcester she was the daughter of John F. and Annie E. (O'Connell) Giblin and lived in Worcester before moving to Westboro 5 years ago. She was a graduate of North High School. At age 16 she ran her own dancing school. In the summers she directed a camp for her students at Hampton Beach, NH. She belonged to professional dance organizations in New York, Boston, and Hartford. Mrs. O'Neil enjoyed gardening and painting both in water colors and oils. She was an accomplished seamstress, crocheter and knitter. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Church. Panagopoulos, both of Worcester, four daughters, Francine Panagopoulos of Worcester, Diane Klarakis of Worcester, Goldie Pailes of Southwest Harbor, ME., Christina Betters of Del Ray, FL., a brother, Michael Chioutsis and two sisters, Silvia Liazos and Mary Pantos, all of Worcester, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Kostadinos and Efrossini (Tzolis) Chioutsis and lived here all her life. She worked for her family's business, the former Hollywood Caf' of Worcester. She was a life long member of St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Worcester - Hermogenes R. Ramos, 50, of 23 Enfield St., was stricken and died Monday, June 4 in University of Mass. Medical Center. He leaves his parents Tobia Ramos of Worcester and Altagracia Rodriguez of the Dominican Republic, two sons, Omedys H. Ramos and Jordy H. Ramos, both of Worcester and a daughter, Charlyn M. Ramos of Worcester, four brothers in the Dominican Republic and a brother and a sister in the United States, many nieces and nephews. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, he came to the U.S. in 1989. He was a heavy equipment operator for several companies in New York and then for Staples since 1996 when he moved to Worcester. Mr. Ramos was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral, and took an active interest in Worcester Public schools relationship with Hispanic students, attending and speaking at school committee meetings. He enjoyed using his computer. He had served as a 2 nd Lieutenant in the Dominican Republic Air Force. The funeral was Saturday June 9 from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass in St. Paul's Cathedral, 15 Chatham St. After cremation burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Joan P. Reardon, 84

Worcester - Joan P. Reardon,84, of 9 Wrentham Rd, died Sunday Dec. 17 at home after an illness. She leaves two sisters, Ann E. Sweeney, and Sr. Mary Regis of the Sisters of Mercy, both of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of William F. and Lilla F.(Hurley) Reardon and lived here all of her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. She worked for the former Denholm and McKay for many years until she retired. Previously, she worked for the former Bancroft Hotel in Worcester. She was a member of Christ the King Church and was a volunteer at the Age Center of Worcster. The Funeral will be Thursday, Dec.21 from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home,61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be Thursday, Dec. 21 from 8:30 to 9:30 at the funeral home.

Mary M. Reardon, 87

WORCESTER - Mary M. Reardon, 87, of 101 Chadwick St., formerly of Holden, a retired teacher, died Friday, May 26, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus after an illness. She leaves two brothers, William F. Reardon of North Carolina and John P. Reardon, with whom she lived; a nephew; and a niece. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John J. and Mary A. (Dineen) Reardon, and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Lesley College, Cambridge, in 1934, and from Worcester State College in 1954 before earning a master's degree from Worcester State College in 1956. Miss Reardon was a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools for 39 years, retiring in 1974. She taught kindergarten for 22 years and then special education for 17 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and the Worcester County and Municipal Employees Association. She was a member of the Worcester Art Museum and the Memorial Aide Society, and was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society. Worcester - Walter T. Regina, 73, of 465 Cambridge St., died Sunday June 25 in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. He leaves a son, Michael Regina of Homestead, FL., a stepson, Peter Minchoff of Branford, CT. and a stepdaughter, Stephanie Komertz of New Fairfield, CT., a sister, Florence R. Steemson of Wareham, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. His wife, Fatima (Demitri) Regina, died many years ago. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Edward and Adella (Ragina) Ragina and lived here most of his life. Mr. Regina was W.W. II veteran serving in the Navy. He worked as a laborer for various local companies. The funeral was Wednesday June 28 from Callahan Brothers funeral Home 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
