Worcester - John C. "Jack" Reidy, 51, of 257 Lovell St., was stricken and died Wednesday May 24, 2001 in St. Vincent Hospital
He leaves his wife of 29 years, Karin C. (Fairbanks) Reidy, two sons, John W. Reidy of Portland, ME, and Michael B. Reidy of Shrewsbury, a daughter, Heather K. Reidy of Worcester, a sister, Mary Ellen McCormick of Worcester, ten nieces and nephews.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of John F. and Margaret T. (Clifford) Reidy and lived here most of his life. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Worcester Junior College, and Worcester State College. He earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Fitchburg State College. Mr. Reidy was a teacher in Worcester Public Schools for 28 years, as an elementary speech pathologist and most recently as a teacher at Doherty High School. He served during the Vietnam War for 6 years as a Marine Reservist. From 1976 until the time of his death he was a member and Master Sergeant of the 212th EIS Massachusetts Air National Guard. Mr. Reidy was a coach for minor and little league teams of the Ted Williams Little League, the the West Side Babe Ruth League and the West Side Senior Babe Ruth League, and most recently for Doherty High School Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Educational Association of Worcester and a long time member of St. Charles Borromeo Church.
The funeral will be Tuesday May 29 from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Born in Southbridge, he was the son of Charles and Nelda (Vary) Reilly and lived in Worcester most of his life . He attended St.Mary's School in Southbridge.

Worcester - Francis P. Riordan, 87, of 22 Blanche St., died Thursday March 29 in Memorial Hospital after an illness.
He leaves a son, Francis J. Riordan of Worcester and a daughter, Elizabeth M. Bell of Oxford and two granddaughters and nephews. His wife of 46 years, Jane E.(Doherty)Riordan died in 1988.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Enis and Mary (Herlihy) Riordan and lived here all his life. He worked for 20 years at Worcester State Hospital retiring in 1979. Previously he worked for American Steel and Wire Co. for 17 years. He was a member of AFSME and the United Steel Workers Union. Mr. Riordan was a sports fan, especially for Holy Cross teams and an avid swimmer.

Worcester - John F. Riordan, 78, of 139 Millbrook St., formally of Erie Ave., died in Memorial Hospital after an Illness.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline M.(Cotter)Riordan; two sons, John J. Riordan of NY.,NY.,Michael A. Riordan of Worcester; two daughters, Joan M. Williams of Auburn, and Kathleen M. Riordan of Boca Raton Fla.; a brother, Edward Riordan of Vernon Conn.; a sister Eleanore Haskili of Needham; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Born in County Cork Ireland he was the son of Patrick and Margaret (Morrissey) Riordan and moved to Worcester as a young boy.
Mr. Riordan was a truck driver for the former McLean Trucking Co. for 35 years retiring in 1984. Previously he was a machinist at the Pratt and Whitney Co. in Conn. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific. Mr. Riordan was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #170 and a long time member of St.Joan of Arc Church. He was also an avid sports Fan.

Worcester - Claire M.L.(Englehart) Rivers, 62, was stricken and died in her home Sunday April 16, 2000.
Her husband Ronald A. Rivers died in 1991. She leaves a son, Ronald A. Rivers, Jr., and two daughters, Debra West and Margaret Rivers, all of Worcester, a brother, Dennis Englehart of Worcester and two sisters, Diane Dence of Worcester and Carol Simonds of Epson, NH, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Pascoag, R.I., she was the daughter of Royal J. and Clara M. (Piche) Englehart and lived in Worcester most of her life.

Lauderdale, FL., and Dismas Poirier of Waltham and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Shediac Bridge, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of Leandre and Victorine (Richard) Poirier. She came to the U. S. in 1957 and has lived in Cherry Valley 10 year.

She leaves her Husband of 60 years, Paul L. Ryan; two daughters, MaryAnn Corona of West Boylston and Jean Solodyna of Sterling; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Bangor, Maine, daughter of Michael F. and Alice (Burke) Mooney. She graduated from Ste Chretienne Academy in Salem, Ma. and Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA.
Mrs. Ryan was a medical secretary for Dr. John Dee for several years retiring in 1985.Prior to this she worked at Saint Vincent Hospital. She was a member of Immaculate Conception parish for many years.

Worcester - Francisco Santiago, 95, of 99 Country Club Blvd., died Friday, October 27, in Worcester Medical Center after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Delfina (Reyez) Santiago; three sons, Rafael Santiago of New York City, Rogue Santiago of Leominster, Samuel A. Santiago of Worcester; five daughters, Ada Santos, Bolivia Rodriguez, Mejica Santiago, Wanda Yapor and Aida 'Iris' Martinez, all of Worcester; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Another son, Bolivar Santiago died in 1989.
Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he was son of Modesto Rodriguez and Juana B. Santiago, and came to the United States in 1969, moving to Worcester in 1972.
Mr. Santiago worked his farm in Puerto Rico for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Rock of Salvation Church.

Auburn - Margaret L. Savage, 80, of 14 Manor Rd., died Monday Oct. 30, in UMass Memorial Hospital 119 Belmont St. after an illness.
She leaves two daughters, Meg L. Savage of Worcester and Joan M. Savage of Chicago, IL. and one granddaughter. Her husband of 20 years, William T. Savage died in 1963.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of John J. and Mary L. (Burrows) Gilligan and lived in Auburn for many years. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and the former Salter Secretarial School of Worcester. She worked in the credit department of the former Worcester County National Bank, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Savage was a life long gardener and floral designer, and an avid traveler. She was a member and volunteer of the Worcester Art Museum, and Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston. She was a founding member of North American Martyrs Church.

Her husband Howard Smith died in 1953. She leaves a brother, John J. Kenney of Framingham, a sister, Margaret E. Nicholl of Grafton, a niece and several nephews. A brother, Thomas P. Kenney of Buffalo, NY, and two sisters, Catherine E. Faron and Mary Syseskey both of Worcester predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Patrick P. And Delia (Crowley) Kenney and lived in Worcester most of her life.
Mrs. Smith worked as a waitress for the former Washington Square Restaurant and various other restaurants in Worcester before retiring several years ago. She was long time member of Our Lady of Fatima church.

John F. Steele, 79

Worcester - John F. Steele, 79, of 84 Perry Ave., was stricken ill and died Sunday March 19,at his home. He would have celebrated his 80 th birthday on March 31st .
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Ernestine T. (Sundstrom) Steele; a daughter Kathleen Zicuis of Worcester; a sister Barbara Wheeler of Worcester - two brothers, James Steele of Worcester and Francis Steele of Pocassett: five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren ;and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Katherine Gutowski of Boynton Beach,Florida died in 1997; a brother, Russell Steele, of Worcester died in 1993.
He was born in Worcester son of David V. and Catherine I. (Sullivan)Steele. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II, and received the Bronze star. Mr. Steele and his three brothers (including the late Russell Steele of Worcester) and His late sister Katherine Gutowski of Boynton Beach, Florida served the armed forces during World War II and were known as the "five star family from Vernon Hill".
He was head greens keeper for 35 years at Wachusett Country Club, West Boylston retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, The Disabled American Veterans and the Vernon Hill Post Chapter #4.

Worcester - Nikola Stojanov, 88, of Worcester, a retired food processor, died at his home after an illness.
His wife of 45 years, Aspasia Stojanov, died in 1997. He leaves his son, Stephan Stoyanoff and three grandchildren.
He was born and raised in Bitola, Republic of Macedonia, the son of Tole and Cveta (Poseva) Stojanov. He came to Worcester in 1958 and retired in 1979 from the former Millbrook Food Processing, Inc. in Worcester. He was a member of the International Bakers and Confectioners Union and the Russian Orthodox Church.
The memorial Mass was held in the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection, 63 Laurel St. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
Mary A. (Welch) Stubbert

Worcester - Mary A. (Welch) Stubbert, 99, of 26 Harvard St., died Thursday evening Dec. 28 in the Lutheran Home.
She leaves a son, John Stubbert, Sr. of San Jose, CA. and a daughter, Shirley DeMauro, of Shrewsbury, 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sons, Robert Stubbert Jr., Paul Stubbert, and Francis Donahue and her sister, Ann Halpin.
Born in Clinton, she was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Durkin) Welch, and lived here most of her life. She was a nurse for the State of Massachusetts for many years, retiring from the Westboro Facility in 1966.

Rev. Dr. Thomas V. Sullivan - 74

Shrewsbury - The Rev. Dr. Thomas V. Sullivan, an Episcopal priest, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 21 at Erlanger Medical Center, Chattanooga, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diana (Hart) Sullivan, a daughter, Martha Elisabeth Sullivan of New York, NY, three sisters, Pauline Durgin of Cranston, RI, Louise Jordan of Brunswick Hills, NY, and Virginia McCabe of New Cumberland, West Virginia.
Born in Methuen, he was the son of Attorney James J. and Marion (Lewis) Sullivan. He attended Phillips Academy, Andover, and Villa Nova University. He graduated from Boston College Law School, the Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, Boston University School of Education, and Andover Newton Theological School in Newton. He was admitted to the practice of law in Massachusetts in 1949, and practiced in Lawrence and Boston until 1956, when he entered the Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, from which he graduated cum laude in 1959. He was ordained deacon in 1959 by Anson Phelps Stokes, Jr., Episcopal Bishop of Massachusetts and was priested by Retired Bishop W. Appleton Laurence acting for Bishop Stokes, in 1960. He served as Curate of All Saints Church, Worcester; Vicar of All Saints Church, Wolcott,CT. and Rector of Saint Francis Church, Holden.
While practicing law in Lawrence, Father Sullivan was a member of the Andover Town Manager Study Committee, which proposed and wrote the new Town Manager Charter for the Town of Andover. He was also active in the Lawrence, Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations.
In 1972 he entered State service and was Regional Drug Coordinator for the Dept. of Mental Health until 1979, when he became chaplain of the Worcester Community Mental Health Center and associate chaplain of Worcester State Hospital. He was appointed Director of Pastoral Services and Protestant Chaplain of the hospital in 1980.
As Regional Drug Coordinator, Father Sullivan was instrumental in the ongoing development of a network of drug treatment agencies in Central Massachusetts and in promoting local, state, and federal funding for the agencies. He was secretary of the Mass. Drug Coordinators Association.
He was a certified Supervisor of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, and Treasurer and executive committee member of its Northeast region. He was supervisor of the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Worcester State Hospital, and adjunct faculty member at Andover Newton Theological School. He was a diplomate of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. He was a member of its membership and executive committees and chairperson of the Legal Concerns committee for the Northeast Region. He also was a member of the national committee on Legal Concerns. He was a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Father Sullivan was active in local and diocesan church affairs. At various times, he had been convenor of the local Episcopal clericus, a member of the liturgical commission of the Diocese of Western Massachusetts, member and secretary of its Standing Committee and had served as its delegate to Provincial Synod. He was a member of its committee on Constitutions and Canons and its Commission on Ministry. He was an Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross and a member of The Episcopal Peace Fellowship, Central Mass. Chapter. He was associated with the Worcester Pastoral Counseling Center in various capacities since 1968 and was most recently its Director of Pastoral Counseling Training. He had been honorary curate of Saint Mark's Church, Worcester and had preached at many local churches. He was a mentor of the Extension Center of the School of Theology of the University of the South, where he was attending a conference for mentors at the time he was taken ill.
Father Sullivan was deeply interested in liturgical renewal. He pioneered the use of experimental texts and liturgies in the Worcester area, and while he was Rector of Saint Francis Church, Holden, he introduced the use of a free-standing altar and the westward position in the celebration of the Eucharist. He encouraged the active participation of lay persons in all aspects of the liturgy, and wrote the canon that enabled lay administration of the Chalice. He had a special concern for adult Christian education, and led retreats and workshops, usually with an experimental emphasis.
His pastoral counseling ministry included chaplaincy to state hospital patients and ex-patients, the teaching and supervision of pastoral counseling and psychotherapy, and crisis counseling with parishioners and other persons in community settings.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 27 at 11 a.m. in All Saints Church, 10 Irving St. Following cremation, interment will be at the convenience of the family. George O. Sutton

Worcester - George O. Sutton, 84 of 105 South Ludlow St., died in Providence Extended Care Center, 119 Providence St. after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 51 years Margaret A. (Scales) Sutton of Worcester; one son Gerard G. Sutton and a daughter Carol M. (Sutton) Toscano both of Worcester; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was born in Worcester son of George F. and Gertrude I.(Rafferty) Sutton. Mr.Sutton was a graduate of the former Commerce High School. He worked at Reed and Prince Manufacturing for twenty years retiring in 1977 as a manager. Mr. Sutton was an Army veteran serving in World War II and was later discharged as a Sergeant.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Auburn,. He was a former member B.P.O.E Elks , Auburn, the Ionic Ave. Boy's Club, Worcester and a Former Member of the American Legion. Mr. Sutton was an avid card player and enjoyed watching Basketball games.
The funeral Masswas held in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.

Worcester - Rev. Alfredo Tanon, 46, of 180 Canterbury St., was stricken and died Monday, March 27 at Memorial Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Luz Torres, his father, Alfredo Tanon of Puerto Rico, two sons, Francisco Lugo of Lynn, Eliezor Tanon of Puerto Rico, two daughters, Idania Tanon and Celinez Tanon, both of Puerto Rico, a brother, Rev. Louis Diaz of Worcester and two sisters, Sol A. Tanon and Lillian Tanon, both of Puerto Rico, six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Naranjito, P.R., he was the son of Rosaura Nieves and came to Worcester in October 1998. Rev. Tanon was ordained in the Cristo Misionera. He served as pastor in the Pentecostal Church in Puerto Rico for 15 years while working as a mason and most recently as a security guard. Rev. Tanon was a member of Iglesia Hispana Unida de Cristo.

WORCESTER - Reinaldo "Ray" Torres 111, 29, of 14 Caspar St., a building fireman, died Friday Jan. 21, in St. Vincent Hospital from injuries suffered that day in a fall at Chandler Magnet School, where he worked.
He leaves his wife of five years, Dawn Marie (Eck) Torres; a son, Reinaldo Torres IV; a daughter, Jasmine Maria Torres; his father, Reinaldo Torres,II; his mother Miriam E. (Maldonado) Torres,; two sisters, Iris M. TorresandSarai Mr.Torres C. Torres, all of Worcester; his paternal grandparents, Reinaldo and Carmen M. Torresof Aguada, Puerto Rico; uncles and aunts; nephews and nieces. He was born in Grand Forks N.D., and lived here many years.
Mr. Torres was the building fireman for six years at Chandler Magnet School. He was previously an arena worker at the Worcester Centrum.
He was a member of Local 176, Laborers International Union of North America.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Eva J. (Yankauskas) Tutino; two sons, Richard J. Tutino of Worcester, and Robert M. Tutino of Taunton; one brother Domenic Tutino of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Enessa Rosselli of So.Barre Ma.and three grandchildren one nephew and three nieces. A sister, Rose Fargnoli of Barre died in 1995
. Born in So. Barre he was the son of Biaggio and AnnaMarie (DiVincenzo) Tutino and moved to Worcester many years ago.
Mr. Tutino was a Clerk at the U.S. Post Office for 30 years retiring in 1991. He attended The College of the Holy Cross and was very active in its glee club. Mr. Tutino was a Cpl. in the U.S. Army Air Corps in England during WW II. He was an avid Holy Cross sports fan.
The funeral Mass was held in St. Johns Church; 40 Temple St. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Mary C. (Meola) Valva - 97

Palm Bay, FL. - Mary C. (Meola) Valva, 97, formerly of Plantation St., Worcester and Lantana, FL., died Sunday Jan. 14 in her grandson's home.
She leaves three grandsons, David V. Kazanovicz of Palm Bay, Fl. with whom she lived, James E. Kazanovicz of Holland, MA. and Edward J. Kazanovicz of Worcester, two granddaughters, Anne M. Bosma of East Douglas, and Joan M. MacPherson of Goose Creek, SC and thirteen great grandchildren. Her husband, Henry Valva, died in 1957 and her daughter, Shirley M. Kazanovicz died in 1990.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Fillipo and Maria (Sicula) Meola and lived in Worcester until moving to Florida in 1960. Mrs. Valva was a supervisor at the former Crompton & Knowles Company. She was a long time past member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel- St. Anne Church.
The funeral Mass was in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Burial was in St. John Cemetery, Worcester.
Ourannia "Ora" Voultsos

Worcester - Ourannia "Ora" Voultsos of 754 Pleasant St. died yesterday Thursday April 12 in the Lutheran Home after an illness.
She is survived by four sisters, Georgia, Helen, Mary, and Emily Voultsos, all of Worcester. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Charles and Efthimia (Loulis) Voultsos, proprietors of the former C.A.V. Market and Tobacco Manufacturing Company at the former Trumbull Square. Ms. Voultsos lived here all her life.
She graduated a Horace Mann Scholar from the former High School of Commerce and the former Worcester School of Business Science. She attended Winslow Secretarial School in Boston, Becker Junior college and the former Fenner Stenotype School in Worcester. Ms.Voultsos was employed for many years in the City Treasurer's Office and was a Court Stenographer and Reporter prior to retirement. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and has held memberships in several state and local organizations.
The funeral was Saturday April 14 from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a service in St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Worcester - Rose E. (Torone) Walsh, 94, formerly of 64 Cohasset St., died Wednesday Oct 18 in Christopher House.
Her husband of 39 years, Robert A. Walsh, died in 1971. She leaves a son, Michael J. Walsh of West Barnstable, three daughters, Roberta M. Walsh of Littleton, Mary Lou Newton of Clinton, and Rosemary Noone of Brewster, eight grandchildren and three great granddaughters, several nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Louis Torone died in 1997 and Andrew Torone died in 1971, sisters, Margaret White died in 1995 and Mary Copper died in 1940, all of Worcester.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Oriani) Torone and lived here all her life. She was housekeeper and cook for St. Stephen's Church for 25 years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church and a member of its Woman's Guild and Rosary Sodality.

John F. Williamson - 87

Leicester - John F. Williamson, 87, formerly of 744 Pleasant St., died Monday July 17 in Providence House Extended Care Center.
His wife of 64 years, Beatrice E. (MacDonald) Williamson, died on July 5th. He leaves a son, J. Herbert Williamson of Rochdale, and a daughter Christine M. Nichols of Princeton, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Christopher and Johanna Toomey) Williamson and lived in Rochdale most of life. He worked for the Worcester Knitting Company for 36 years, retiring in 1974. At age 17 he became a pilot and was the youngest owner of a private airplane in the state. He maintained a life long interest in aviation and was a flea market enthusiast. Mr. Williamson was a long time member of St. Aloysius parish.
The funeral was Wednesday July 26 from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, with a Mass in St. Aloysius - St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Stanley P. Zapasnik, 69
WORCESTER - Stanley P. Z pasnik, 69, of 45 Waverly St., a retired truck driver, died Friday April 28, in St. Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his wife of 44 years, Lillian G. (Trudell) Zapasnik; five sons, Stanley P. Jr., Richard L., John P. and Michael J. Zapasnik, all of Worcester, and Alfred J. Zapasnik of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Donna A. Zapasnik of Worcester; a brother, Joseph Zapasnik of Dallas and three grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Mr. an Mrs. Stanislaus Zapasnik, and was lifelong resident of Worcester.
Mr. Zapasnik was a truck drive for J. Harrington Co. Movers for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. Casimir Church.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 2, from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours a 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 1, in the funeral home.

Worcester - Sophie P. Zinkevich,85 of 340 Lake Ave. North, formerly of Wachusett St., was stricken ill at home and died at St. Vincent's Hospital.
She leaves two brothers, John T. Zinkevich with whom she lived and Edward J. Dzinkavich both of Worcester, two sisters, Adele B. Hebblethwaite of Sagamore and Helen Zdamkowski of Dorchester, Several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Cambridge daughter of Walter and Mary (Bartosewicz) Zinkevich and lived in Worcester most of her life. Ms. Zinkewich worked as machine operator for the former Ruckwood Sprinkler Co. and for the former Harrington Richardson Arms Co. retiring in 1987. She enjoyed Crocheting.
The Funeral service was Thursday, March 29. From Callahan Brothers Funeral Home 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass in St.John Church, 44 Temple St., Burial was in St. John Cemetery.
