Robert C. McDermott
Robert C. McDermott, 78, died on February 20 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
Mr. McDermott was a manager for New England Telephone's equipment installation department where he work for 41 years until his retirement.
He attended Boston public schools and was a graduate of Mechanic Arts High School in Boston.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Friends of Bill W.
Born in Boston, he lived in Hyde Park for 13 years before moving to Braintree 32 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Susan T. (Fosco) McDermott; two sons, Robert C. McDermott Jr. of Braintree and William N. McDermott of Boston, and three grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on February 25 at St. Clare's Church in Braintree. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home.

Thomas S. Mulroy
Thomas S. Mulroy, 89, of Quincy, died on February 24 at the Quincy Medical Center.
Mr. Mulroy was a Machine Welding Instructor for General Dynamics Co. in Quincy for 40 years until his retirement in 1977.
Mr. Mulroy was a member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus Council #2259.
He was a member of the Furnace Brook Golf Club, President's Golf Club, the Knights of Columbus Golf League and the General Dynamics Golf team and he won numerous golf tournaments.
He also belonged to the Koch Club Couples Bowling League in Quincy for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanora V. (Bonomi) Mulroy; a daughter, Paula Giovannucci of Milton; two sons, James P. Mulroy of Quincy and Thomas S. Mulroy Jr. of Chicago, Il.; three grandchildren, Willam Giovannucci and John Giovannucci and Laura Boulay, and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Mary Mulroy, Martin Mulroy, Anne Horan and Ensg. James P. Mulroy.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on February 28 at St. Ann's Church in Wollaston. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.

Patricia C. Swan
Patricia C. (Powers) Swan, 89, died on February 26 at Milton Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Cambridge, she was a long-time resident of Milton. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Hills Church.
Wife of the late Patrick J. Swan, she is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Lynds of Milton; a brother, Richard Powers of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Hills Church on February 28. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Margaret Tortorella
Margaret Loretta "Peg" (Hayes) Tortorella, 84, died on March 1 at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Mrs. Tortorella was a chef and the co-owner of Wells Grill on Hancock Street in Quincy.
Born in South Boston and raised in Dorchester, she graduated from Boston Public Schools. She moved to Milton in 1950.
She loved to travel.
Wife of the late Dominic Tortorella, she is survived by a son, Joseph Tortorella of Milton, who runs the family business; a daughter, June Martin of Canton; a sister, Irene Ferretti of Quincy; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Elizabeth's Church on March. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery in Roslindale.

Norma W. Sullivan
Norma W. (Baldwin) Sullivan, 83, died on March 6 at John Adams Nursing Home in Quincy.
Mrs. Sullivan was born in Newton. She was a homemaker.
She moved to Milton at age 5 and lived in the same house until she entered the nursing home a year ago. She was a member of the Milton Senior Citizens and the Massachusetts Soldiers' Home and the Mattapan Center for Chronic Diseases.
Dr. Branca also conducted a private practice with offices in Kenmore Square and Ashmont. Many former Boston Red Sox players were patients at his Kenmore Square office. He retired from private practice in 1990.
He was affiliated with numerous national and state medical associations including the American Medical Association, the American College of Radiology and the American College of Nuclear Physicians.
Dr. Branca served two years of active duty from 1954-6 as a radiologist in the U.S. Navy where he attained the rank of Commander. He was one of the corporators of the Milton Bank and Trust Company, serving as the bank's first president for 10 years.
He was an active alumnus of Boston College. For the last 10 years he has served as Treasurer for the Alumni Association-sponsored Institute for Learning in Retirement. He served on the Alumni Board for several years and was president in 1967 and 1968. While president of the Alumni Association and as a member of the Athletic Advisory Board, Dr. Branca established the Blue Chips organization at Boston College, now known as The Flynn Fund, interested in the continued growth and improvement of the athletic program at B.C. Dr. Branca has received several awards from Boston College including the 1973 McKenney Medal as the university's outstanding alumnus, induction into the Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1981, the Callen Award as Fundraising Volunteer of the Year in 1994 and he is this year's recipient of the Curley Award for distinguished volunteer service to B.C. athletics.
He was a member of the Hatherly Golf Club in North Scituate and Wollaston Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anne (Whelan) Branca; six children, Paul Branca of Milton, William Branca of Weymouth, Richard Branca of Lisle, IL; Jane Branca of Needham, Donald Branca of Hanson and Nancy Branca of Leadville, CO; two brothers, Gene Branca of Quincy and Joseph Branca of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Filomena Guilifa and Lucy Branca, both of Wollaston, and 16 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha's Church on March 9. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Genevieve M. Byron
Genevieve M. (McCarthy) Byron, 75, of Stoughton, formerly of Milton, died on February 27 at Caritas Good Samaritan Center in Brockton.
Born and raised in Boston, Mrs. Byron lived 35 years in Milton before moving to Stoughton six years ago.
She was an administrative assistant for the Milton Police Department for 20 years before her retirement in 1995.
Mrs. Byron was the former treasurer of the Milton Senior Women's Bowling League.
Wife of the late Daniel J. G. Byron, she is survived by a son, William G. Byron of Stoughton; a daughter, Nancy Regan of Mansfield; a brother, James McCarthy of Scituate; two sisters, Mary J. Costas of Arlington and Ann T. McCarthy of Franklin; and four grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha's Church on March 4. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

George M. DeVoe
George M. DeVoe, 60, died at his home in Malden on March 4.
Mr. DeVoe was in the investment business and for the past 18 years was a partner with Rampart Investments.
He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Born in Boston, he grew up in Milton and graduated from Milton High School and Tufts University. He recieved his M.B.A. from Harvard University.
Prior to a recent move to Malden, Mr. DeVoe had lived in Medford for the past nine years.
He enjoyed biking and hiking, and often went on extended trips throughout the U.S.
He is survived by his wife, Terry (Gingrass) Lawlor; two daughters, Kristen DeVoe-Talluto of Burlington, VT, and Laura DeVoe of Medford; a step-daughter, Meghan Lawlor of Malden; a step-son, Ryan Lawlor of Malden; a sister, Carolyn Lane of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Marvin J. DeVoe of Winchester, and two grandchildren, Sienna amd Willow DeVoe-Talluto.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on March 7 at St. Elizabeth Church. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

John W. McCue
John W. McCue, 77, died on March 3 at his home.
Mr. McCue was a middle school teacher and administrator in several Boston schools. He started his teaching career in Abington High School and was an administrator at Woodrow Wilson School in Dorchester at the time of his retirement.
He was a former member of Redberry Council Knights of Columbus, the Boston Teachers Union, Boston School Administrators Association and the Wellesley Amatuer Radio Club.
Mr. McCue was a World War II Army veteran and served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater.
Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and lived in Milton. He graduated from St. Ann's School in Dorchester, Boston English High School, and from Boston College in 1951. He earned a master's degree in education at Boston State College.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Barry) McCue; a brother, James H. McCue of Middleboro; and three cousins, James McQuillan, Patricia McQuillan and Mary McQuillan, all of Wellesley.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Elizabeth's Church on March 6.
