Dr. William C. Quinby Jr.
Dr. William C. Quinby, Jr., 88, a surgeon with 50 years of service at the Massachusetts General Hospital from 1946 to 1996. A leader in the development of surgical treatment of severe burns, he was the Assistant Chief of Staff at the Shriners Burns Institute in Boston from 1969-1985 and a founding surgeon for the Adult Burns Unit of the MGH until his retirement from active practice. In addition, he served as Chief of Surgery at several Maine coast, playing ice hockey, and skiing with fellow members of the Schussverein Ski Club in Jackson, NH.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Whiteley Quinby; four children, William C. Quinby III of Charleston, SC, Marguerite Q. Eberle of Concord, MA, Susan S. Quinby of Seattle, WA, and Jonathan S. Quinby of Woodside, CA, and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Milton Academy's Apthorp Chapel on Saturday, September 7 at 11 a.m.
Mary B. Jones
Mary B. (Sullivan) Jones, 85, died on August 25 at her home.
Mrs. Jones was a parishioner of St. Agatha Church and a former member of the St. Agatha's Couples Club and the Ladies Sodality.
She was a 1939 graduate of Emerson College.
Born in Boston, Mrs. Jones lived in Mattapan before moving to Milton 61 years ago.
Wife of the late Gerard V. Jones, she is survived by six sons, Gerard E. Jones of Peabody, John T. Jones of Milton, William F. Jones Sr. of Braintree, Richard J. Jones of Brockton, Robert V. Jones of Weymouth and Christopher B. Jones of Abington; a daughter, Mary M. Landberg of Florida, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A summer resident of Onset, she was also a volunteer at Milton Hospital.
Funeral services were held Sept. 3 at the P.E. Murray - George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home in West Roxbury. Burial was private.

Rita A. Leonard
Rita A. (Fay) Leonard, 83, of Milton died Aug. 18 at the High Gate Manor in Dedham after a long illness.
Born and raised in Boston, she graduated from Roslindale High.
Mrs. Leonard was the wife of the late Joseph R. Leonard; she is survived by one son, Barry D. Leonard of Marshfield; three daughters, Marylou Leussler of Canton, Laura J. Stanley of Sharon, and Lisa M. Polmonari of Westford and nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was the mother of the late J. Peter Leonard.
A funeral Mass was held Aug. 23 at St. Mary of the Hills Church. Burial was at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.

William C. Connolly
William C. Connolly, 82, of Milton, died Aug. 17 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He retired in 1984 after serving as Director of Physical Therapy of Long Island Hospital and Physical Therapist of Sancta Maria Hospital, Cambridge. He also served as trainer for the Harvard University Hockey team.
Mr. Connolly grew up in Chestnut Hill and lived there and in Holbrook before moving to Milton 38 years ago. During his childhood he spent five years living in Galway, Ireland.
He graduated from Brookline High School before going on to Boston University to receive his Bachelor's degree in education. Mr. Connolly then received a Master's degree in education from Columbia University and then was a doctoral candidate at B.U. He was also a graduate of the Arizona; three sisters, Claire Gordon of Canada, Barbara Tonsberg of Westwood and Janet Folan of Norwood and 12 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha's Church on Aug. 27. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home.
George J. Schindler
George J. Schindler, 79, of Milton died Aug. 21 at his home.
Born in Boston, Mr. Schindler lived in Mattapan before moving to Milton 25 years ago. He worked as a distribution manager for 52 years at Beatrice/Yankee Foods.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Husband of the late Jacqueline M. (Clancy) Schindler, he is survived by three sons, George J. Schindler Jr. of Woburn, Thomas M. Schindler of Washington and Timothy P. Schindler of South Easton; three daughters, Patricia L. Crowley of Canton, Jacqueline M. Napolitano of Holliston and Sandra J. McSharry of Sharon, 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Susan Schindler.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agatha's Church on Aug. 24. Burial was in New Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale.
Funeral Arrangements were made by the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home.
