QUINCY - Mary Elizabeth (McDonald) Fairfull, 88 years of age Friday August 6, 2010. Mary has joined her late husband William, a Retired Naval Officer, her son William Jr. and her Daughter Jean all who preceded her into eternal rest. She will rest in peace with her family in Virginia. Mary is survived by her loving sister Lillian George of Quincy, MA, a brother George McDonald of Wrentham, MA and her devoted niece Rosemarie Lauria of Braintree, MA. She was the sister of the late Joseph McDonald formerly of Braintree, MA. Mary also leaves her daughter-in-law Sandra Fairfull, widow of the late William, Jr. of Virginia; two grandsons William III of South Carolina and Michael of Virginia, a granddaughter Phyllis of Colorado, her nephew Robert George of Hawaii, nieces Kathleen Gile of Weymouth, MA and Maureen Appleton of Florida. While living in Charleston, SC for 45 years, Mary settled into the life of a “Southern Belle” while raising her family and working for many years at the Citadel, a Military Academy in Charleston, SC. Mary enjoyed the company of her many dear friends whom she remembered fondly after leaving Charleston, SC to return home to her family in Massachusetts after her husband’s passing. A Private Prayer Service will be held at the Mortimer N. Elina (Mahonen) Porkola, age 78, of Weymouth, at South Shore Hospital, died peacefully surrounded by her family, August 20, 2010. Beloved wife for 54 years of Mauri Porkola. Cherished mother of Helja-Marle Faubert of CA, Anne Porkola-Henkel of Holbrook and Susan Porkola of Brockon. Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey, Jason, Christopher and Cody Faubert of CA and Peter and Melissa Henkel of Holbrook. Great-grandmother of Jariah Faubert. She is also survived by one sister and many nieces and nephews, all of Finland. Elina was born in Finland and came to the United States in her late twenties. Former employee of Zildjian Co. She also was a homemaker with talents in dressmaking, baking, poetry and many enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor. She was a past member of the Lutheran Ladies Auxilliary. A Funeral Service for family members and close friends will be held at the Peck Funeral Home, E. Weymouth, on Tuesday August 24, at 11AM, with brief visiting beforehand. Burial Blue Hill Cemetery. Abington – Fred Ralph Antonucci, 93 years of age entered Life Eternal on Monday, December 6, 2010 at his home in Abington. He was born in Braintree and received his education at the Watertown High School. He was a longtime Braintree resident before moving to Abington. During W.W.II he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a member of the 79th Fighter Group. He was a veteran of the 12th Air Force Thunderbolt unit in Italy flying with the British Desert Air Force in support of the Eighth Army Troops in Italy and the allied partisans in Yugoslavia. He served in the Rhineland, Po Valley, Balkans, Egypt, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples, Rome Arno, Southern France and North Apennines. He served from 1942 to 1945 and received a Distinguished Unit Badge with Cluster and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign ribbon. Fred was a machinist at Instron Corporation for twenty-five years. He was known as a man who could fix anything and who would even make tools if necessary. He was truly a “Mechanical Wizzard”. Fred was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Braintree over many years. He is survived by his beloved wife Ida (Ursini) Antonucci. He is the devoted father of Mark Steven Antonucci married to Sandra G. (Soriano) Antonucci of Abington and the late SP4 Fred John Antonucci who died accidentally while serving with the U.S. Army in 1983. He is survived by two grandchildren Austin A. Antonucci and Emma M. Antonucci both of Abington. Fred is survived by his brother Peter Antonucci of Watertown and his sisters Dora Malmberg of Medway and Mary D’Amato of Melrose. He was the brother of the late Anthony Antonucci, Silvio Antonucci, Paul Antonucci, Lena Miceli, Anna Frissore, Julia Vergato and Regina O’Reilly. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held at The First Baptist Church of Braintree 594 Washington Street, BRAINTREE on Friday, December 10th at 11:00 A.M. The Reverend Robert Killeffer will officiate. WEYMOUTH - Richard Bruce “Andy” Anderson, 60 years of age passed away suddenly at his home in Weymouth on Monday December 27, 2010. Richard who was commonly known as Andy was born in Quincy and was raised in Braintree. He was a 1968 graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston where he participated in several clubs and activities. Andy attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout troop 55 of Braintree. He went on to do undergraduate work at the University of Miami before volunteering for service in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy. Andy served from 1970 to 1974 aboard the USS Tacoma (PG-92) as a Gunners Mate. He spent over 20 years working at the Old National Health Labs Inc. in Coral Gables Florida as a Laboratory Supervisor. Andy had resided in Coral Gables for 25 years before moving to Weymouth 14 years ago. He was presently employed with the Weymouth-based Alletess, Inc. where he worked in their Lab doing allergy testing. Despite suffering from a form of Muscular Dystrophy Andy was an avid traveler to Las Vegas, Nevada, Taiwan, Australia, England, Scotland and Ireland. Richard was a member of the South Shore Astronomy Club. Andy was the son of the late Donald B. and Evelyn J. (Krezewski) Anderson formerly of Braintree He was the brother of the late Donna (Anderson) Callahan formerly of Worcester. He is the loving brother of Mark Anderson of Beverly, Jon Anderson of Nottingham, NH and Thomas Anderson of Dover, NH. Andy is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews. There will be a gathering at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street BRAINTREE on Saturday January 15, 2011 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church 856 Washington Street, BRAINTREE at 10:30am. Burial will be private at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 14, 2011 from 5-8pm at the Funeral Home. BRAINTREE - Ruth Claire (Larrabee) Johnston, 81 years of age of Braintree passed away at Quincy Medical Center on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. She was born in Braintree July 19, 1929 to Leon L. and Annis Wright (Stott) Larrabee. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late William Irving Johnston whom she married October 12, 1966 and who died May 3, 2007. For more than 30 years Ruth was an executive secretary for the Braintree Fire Department and the Braintree Police Department. She retired July 28, 1979. She was a member of the Braintree Chapter order of Eastern Star. She was an enthusiastic square dance expert. She traveled extensively with her square dancing groups. She loved dogs. Ruth is survived by her nephew Charles Kenneth Johnston of Wilmington and several close friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Braintree - Mary Louise (Friend) Babin, 87 years of age passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. She was born in Boston and had been a longtime resident of Braintree; she graduated from Braintree High School Class of 1941. In her earlier years she was employed in the Personnel Department of the Hingham Shipyard and had been a bookkeeper for business firms. She enjoyed bingo and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her beloved husband Laurence H. Babin to whom she had been married for 69 years. She is the loving sister of June Richia of Braintree and the late Eileen Sullivan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours for family members will be held at the Mortimer N. Susan Joyce (Matthews) Williams, 62 years of age, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 17, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Susan was born in Everett and attended Everett Schools until moving to Roslindale for her high school years. She was a graduate of Roslindale High School. After high school, she graduated from Burdett Business School of Boston. She worked as an accounts payable manager for the Industrial Steel Company of Cambridge and then worked for her husbands family business as a customer service representative for Williams Coal and Oil Company for seventeen years. Most recently, she had been a retail manager for the former Water, Water Everywhere Store in the Derby Shops of Hingham. She has been a Weymouth resident since 1972. Susan was a member of the Abigail Adams Historical Society in Weymouth and the South Shore Spinners Guild. Her passion was antiques which she enjoyed buying and selling. Susan is survived by her loving husband Robert E. Williams to whom she has been married for 38 years. She is the devoted and much loved mother of Matthew E. Williams married to Carrie Williams of Weymouth and Jennifer L. Del Rosso married to Arthur Del Rosso of Weymouth. She is also survived by her step daughter Leslie Allen married to Victor Allen of Eagle Springs, N.C. Susan is survived by her seven adoring grandchildren, James Robert Dunlap of N.C., Nicholas, Megan, William and Aiden Del Rosso and Matthew Williams Jr. and Evan Williams all of Weymouth. She is the sister of Bruce Matthews of Plaistow, N.H. A gathering will be held at the Mortimer N. She was born in Everett, MA. and resided in Braintree from 1953 to 1980 when she moved to Bridgewater and also Carver. She moved to Deltona, FL. in 1987. She graduated from Boston Schools. She had been a communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Braintree. During her working years she was an electronics assembler for the Raytheon Manufacturing Corporation at Quincy. Dorothy was the wife of the late Richard J. Moore who died in 1994. She is the devoted mother of Diane Botto married to Anthony Botto of Deltona, FL. She is the loving grandmother of Rick Botto of Bridgewater. Dorothy was sister of the late Alfred Metivier. Visiting hours will be Sunday, March 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mortimer N. Weymouth – Betty Louise (Langhorst) Andrews, 90 years of age entered Life Eternal at the Norwell Knoll Nursing Home on Monday, April 18, 2011. She was born in East Weymouth and was a lifelong resident of the town. She was a graduate of Weymouth High School Class of 1938 and of the Higgins Business School. She had been a comptometer operator. Betty was a bookkeeper for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. She was employed by the Boston Terminal Company from 1941 to 1946. She was later employed by King’s Department Store in Quincy as a bookkeeper and clerk. She is believed to be the oldest member of the East Weymouth Congregational Church particularly in terms of length of membership. Betty belonged to the Weymouth Senior Citizens and to the Senior Walking Club. She was the beloved wife of the late Alan D. Andrews who passed away June 17, 2010. They were married for 63 years. She is the devoted mother of Sara C. Stinson married to Timothy Stinson of Holbrook and James Douglas Andrews of East Weymouth. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews. Betty Andrews was the sister of the late Helen Burke, Donald Langhorst and Frederick Langhorst. Visiting hours will be Saturday, April 23rd, at the Mortimer N. BRAINTREE - Salvatore Alfeo, 64 of Braintree passed away on Tuesday February 2, 2010 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Sal was born in Aragona, Sicily and received his education there before moving to the United States, settling in Quincy. He attended Quincy High School. He had lived in Waltham before moving to Braintree 30 years ago. Sal was a member of Local 560, Laborers Union in Waltham working in the construction field. Sal was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Maddalena G. (Rizzo) Alfeo. He is the devoted father of Joseph Alfeo of Clive, Iowa, Russell J. Alfeo married to Jacquelyne Alfeo of Braintree, Tony G. Alfeo married to Lulu Alfeo of Snellville, GA, Teresa M. Littlewood married to David Littlewood of Holbrook, Salvatore G. Alfeo engaged to Jillian Anger and Angelo J. Alfeo of Braintree. Beloved “Toto” of Kelsie, Savana and Landon Littlewood and Emily Alfeo. Sal is also survived by a brother and sisters and his mother-in-law and several Brothers-in-laws and Sisters-in-laws in Sicily.
