Braintree – Marilyn Katherine (Sullivan) O’Brien, 8l years of age, entered Life Eternal unexpectedly at the Quincy Medical Center on Monday, December 6, 2010. She was born in Boston and was raised in South Boston. She was a graduate of South Boston High School and Boston Clerical School. In her earlier years she was employed by the Standard Oil Company as a secretary at Everett and Boston. Marilyn was a very active parishioner at the Church of Saint Thomas More where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Sodality. Marilyn was also a member of the Braintree Women’s Club and their Bowling League of which she was a longtime member. She resided in Braintree for fifty years and was formerly of Quincy. Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Francis O’Brien and by her seven devoted children: Daniel A. O’Brien married to Kristine O’Brien of Bridgewater, Maureen A. Johnson wife of the late Harry Johnson of Quincy, Karen M. O’Byrne married to Andrew O’Byrne of Wagner, S.C., Kevin B. O’Brien married to Suzanne O’Brien of Northboro, MA., Joanne N. Plunkett married to Timothy Plunkett of Abington, Lynn Kearney married to Michael Kearney of Halifax and Timothy O’Brien married to Sarah O’Brien of Weymouth. She is also survived by six grandchildren. Marilyn is survived by her sister Jean Marie Walsh married to Jack Walsh of South Boston. She was the sister of the late John Sullivan who is survived by his wife, Agnes Sullivan of Wareham. There will be a gathering at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington St., BRAINTREE on Thursday, December 9th at 8:00 A.M. to be followed by A Funeral Mass in the Church of Saint Thomas More, BRAINTREE at 9:00 A.M. Braintree - A. Louise (Reynolds) (Benson) Snyder, 92 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the Overlook Hospital in Bellevue, State of Washington on Sunday, December l2, 2010. She had moved very recently to the State of Washington. She was born in Braintree and was a graduate of Braintree High School Class of 1937. She was the wife of the late Arthur R. Benson who died in1968 and the late George Snyder who died in 1992. Louise was the daughter of the late Charles R. Reynolds and Cora E. (DeCoste) (Reynolds) Sears. She is the loving mother of Gail Morgan married to Eugene Morgan of Bottell, Washington and Jacqueline Wegman of Bridgewater. She is the devoted grandmother of Arthur Morgan of Texas, Chris Cox of Huntington Beach, CA. Brian Wegman of Cedar Lake, Indiana, Debbie Denhart of Portage, Indiana and Roger Wegman of Assonet, MA. She is also survived by six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Louise was a retired saleslady for Jordan Marsh Company, Braintree and the Braintree Television Store. She was also employed by the Braintree Housing Authority. Louise lived in Braintree until 1976 when she moved to Cotuit where she resided until 2009. She then moved again to Braintree and very recently to Bothell, Washington. While living in Braintree she was a communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the Braintree Catholic Women’s Club. While residing on the Cape she was a very active member of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee where she was a Eucharistic Minister and Altar Server. There will be a gathering at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, BRAINTREE on Tuesday, December 21st at 9:30 A.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Francis of Assisi Church 856 Washington St., SOUTH BRAINTREE SQUARE at 10:30 A.M. to be followed by burial at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Weymouth – Leonard “Lenny” Alves, 82 years of age entered Life Eternal unexpectedly January 4, 2011 at his home in Weymouth. He formerly resided in Braintree for most of his life. Lenny was associated with his family’s firm, the well known Alves Photo Service which was located on Storrs Avenue, Braintree for many years. He was the husband of the late Claire R. (Patenaude) Alves who died in 2006. Leonard is the devoted father of four children: Linda Keough married to Thomas Keough of Braintree, Claire Diane Jameson married to William Jameson of Newport, Vermont, John J. Alves married to Kathleen Alves of Sandwich and Pamela Phelan married to David Phelan of Halifax. He was the father of the late Sherrie MacEwan who is survived by her son Michael MacEwan. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Leonard was the brother of the late Charles, Gordon and Robert Alves. He is survived by his sister Mary MacEwan of Florida and by his sister-in-law Barbara Alves of Sacramento, CA. Leonard was known to be an expert photographer. During W.W.II and the following period he served with the U.S. Marine Corps in China at Teintsin, Peking and Tsingtao, China. He was especially proud of his service with the Marines and participated yearly in the “China Marines” reunion. Leonard belonged to a bowling league over the years. He was a communicant of Saint Thomas More Parish in Braintree. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Weymouth - Helen Joan (Rockwood) MacNeil, 75 years of age, a lifelong resident of Weymouth who attended Weymouth Schools entered Life Eternal at the Colonial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weymouth on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. She was the beloved wife for 54 years of the late Kenneth E. MacNeil who died October 5, 2010. she was the daughter of the late Teresa (Gill) and Albert James Rockwood, Sr. She is survived by her brother Norman Rockwood of Braintree and Frostproof, Fla. And her sisters Patricia Rockwood Smith and Margaret Rockwood MacNeil-Ericson (Mrs. Karl Ericson) both of Weymouth. Helen was the sister of the late William, Francis, Albert Jr., Henry and Edward Rockwood, Teresa Smith and Mary McGowan. Helen leaves many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand nephews and great grand nephews and great grand nieces. She was a twenty-seven year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the George R. Bean Post No.79, American Legion, in South Weymouth. She was a former employee of the Electro Switch Corp. of Weymouth. Helen was an avid country music fan and a member of the Union Towers Association at Union Towers One. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. BRAINTREE - Esther “Ronnie” Veronica (Murphy) Zakrzewski, 86 years of age passed away at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. Ronnie had worked as a waitress for 35 years at the Lobster Claw Restaurant on Mass Ave. in Boston. She later was a waitress for 10 years at the former Joseph’s Restaurant in Braintree. She had been a Braintree resident for 55 years. She was an active Communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth Landing. She was an avid Red Sox fan and one of her favorite past times was shopping.
Ronnie was very devoted to her children and her grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late Vitold “Victor” B. Zakrzewski who passed away in 2006. She is the loving mother of Paul James Zakrzewski of Carver, Gail M. Johnson married to Stephen Johnson of Kingston and Mark David Zakrzewski of North Attleboro. Ronnie is survived by her five grandchildren: Katie Johnson, Matthew Zakrzewski, Rebecca Zakrzewski, Eric Johnson and Tyler Zakrzewski. She is also survived by a brother Christopher Augustus Murphy of Somerville and a sister Lillian Grace Rae of Halifax.
A gathering will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street BRAINTREE on Saturday, February 19th at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church WEYMOUTH LANDING at 11:00am. Weymouth – Janice E. (Smith) Clark, passed away quietly early Sunday morning February 20, 2011 at the age of 86. She will be lovingly and dearly missed by her daughters Sandra Klein of Quincy and Jackie Bernard and her son-in-law James of Weymouth; by her seven grandchildren and their spouses: Janice and Jimmy Conlon of Duxbury, Danielle and Alex Lagos of Florida, Tracey and Ed Araujo of Kingston, Stacie and Ed Cummings of Whitman, Matthew and Jessica Bernard of Colorado and Nicholas and Pam Winslow-Klein of Tennessee. Proud “GIGI” of Andrew, Hope, Nathan, Noah, AJ, Aiden, Ryan, Chase, Andres, Kaiden and Kaileb. Janice was born in Boston and raised in Litchfield, Maine. She attended Westbrook Junior College. After marrying she moved to Braintree and then brought up her family in Wollaston. She was a Weymouth resident for the past 35 years. For many years she resided at Union Towers Two in Weymouth where she was one of the original residents. During her working career she was a Human Resource Administrator for Conrad’s Department Store in Boston. For ten years she was employed at Remick’s Store in Quincy Center and for ten years she was employed at Filene’s Store at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree where she was a gift wrapper which she enjoyed and took much pride in her work. In her “spare time” she loved to shop. Visiting hours will be Thursday, February 24th from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, Braintree. The Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, February 25th at 11:30 A.M. with The Reverend Gary Blume pastor of the First Church in Weymouth (Congregational) officiating. Family members and friends are invited. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Weymouth Landing with a spring time committal since winter burials are not being made there.

Braintree – Geraldine H. (Newcomb) Reardon, 85 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the home of her daughter Ellen E. Kelliher in Bridgewater on Ash Wednesday, March 9, 2011. She was raised in Quincy Point and had resided in Braintree for fifty years. She was a graduate of the Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth. Gerry was an active communicant of Saint Thomas More Parish in Braintree where she was a member of the Sodality. In earlier years she had been a secretary for the Federal Government at the Boston Army Base. She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice “Moe” Reardon who died in 1999. Moe was a longtime reporter for “The Patriot Ledger”. She is survived by a loving son and devoted daughter Joseph P. Reardon of Braintree and Ellen E. Kelliher married to John Kelliher of Bridgewater. She is the loving grandmother of Brianna Kelliher, Kevin Kelliher, Jack Reardon, Katie Reardon and Elizabeth Reardon. Gerry was a close friend of the late Jack Laracy. There will be a gathering at the Mortimer N. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was known and admired for her wisdom and love of all creatures. Mark G. Crowley, 36, of Randolph formerly of Weymouth died unexpectedly at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Cushing Campus, in Brockton last Wednesday. Born in Boston he resided in Weymouth for thirty years before moving to Randolph three years ago.
He was a graduate of Weymouth High School Class of 1981. He also graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Boston before receiving his Master's Degree from Suffolk University. He was a psychologist and social worker.
In earlier years he wrote for the New England Construction News published in Rockland. He also reported for Radio Station WATD in Marshfield. He had also been employed at South Shore Hospital.
He was currently working for the South Shore Mental Health Center in Quincy where he had been employed for the last five years. He had formerly been associated with the Bay State Mental Health Clinic. He specialized in working with and counseling teenagers.
A communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth Landing he had taught special needs Religious Education as part of the Confraternity of the Christian Doctrine Program.
He is survived by his Mother: Annette C. (Bellenoit) Crowley of Weymouth. His father was the late John J. Crowley. He is also survived by a brother: Daniel J. Crowley of Weymouth, four sisters: Maureen C. Thompson of Randolph, Loretta K. Snover of Bourne, Patricia T. Bohn of Weymouth and Lisa Crowley of Weymouth. He was the brother of the late John J. Crowley,Jr. He is survived by five nieces: Andrea, Kelly, and Rebecca Snover and Kristen and Colleen Bohn; by a nephew: Robert Bohn. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by lifelong friends: Patrick Newman of Weymouth and Mary Hearon of Weymouth.

Braintree, MA USA -- Mrs. Paz M. (Manalo) Balais, 75, of Brockton, MA USA died on Friday July 14, 2000 at the Elihu White Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Braintree, MA. Born at Alaminos, Laguna, Philippines, she will return there for burial at the Alaminos Municipal Cemetery. A Mass will be celebrated at Senor Del Pilar Parish Church.
She was a graduate of the MLQ University in the Philippines and was a teacher for 30 years at the Aliminos Elementary School. She was a member fo the Catholic Daughters of Mary Immaculate.
She is survived by her husband: Domingo R. Balais; a son Roel Balais of Brockton, MA, a daughter-in-law: Cheryl Balais; three grandchildren: Rochelle Balais, Jason Balais, and Adrian Balais (one granddaughter and two grandsons.

Hingham -- Ernestine (Caffanges) Byrnes, 92, of Hingham died at her home on Tuesday after a long illness. Born in Somerville she was a graduate of Somerville High School. She was a Hingham resident for more than 7 years. She had resided in Weymouth for 10 years and was a former Dorchester resident for many years. She was a communicant of The Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Church in Hingham, MA.
She was a retired office manager for the Occidental Insurance Company in Boston which is now the TransAmerica Insurance Company.
Wife of the late Boston Police Officer Daniel P. Byrnes she is survived by two sons: John T. Byrnes of Austin, TX and Attorney Daniel P. Byrnes of Braintree; two daughters: Virginia B. Locke of Holbrook and Patricia B. LaFond of Hingham. She is survived by a brother: Peter Caffanges of Braintree. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at The Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Church, 1057 Main St., Hingham. The celebrant will be Reverend Father Albert Sallese pastor of the Church. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hingham.
Visiting hours will be at the residence of Mrs. Byrnes at 23 Harvest Lane (off Gardner Street) Hingham on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
