Albert J. Coletta

Albert J. Coletta of Quincy was the owner and director of the Grimwood and Coletta Funeral Home and a WWII Marine Corps Veteran. He passed away unexpectedly at the Quincy Hospital on Friday. Al worked for 45 years for the Quincy Shipyard before retiring. He later worked as the director of his own funeral home and as a director at the Peck Funeral Home in Braintree and in Weymouth. He also worked for the David Clancy Funeral Home. Al was a member of the American Legion Post 294 and the Quincy Sons of Italy Lodge. He greatly enjoyed playing golf, gardening and playing cards. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris F. (Grimwood) Coletta and he is survived by a son, Albert J. Coletta, Jr. of Quincy; four daughters, Linda L. Nubar of Holbrook, Karen M. Rollins and Denise Del Rosso, both of Halifax, and Lisa A. Pickron of Amherst; and a sister Sally Maddelena, of Quincy and 14 grandchildren. A funeral Mass will celebrated at 10 A.M. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church. Burial wil be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday and Monday at the Coletta Funeral Home 603 Adams St. Quincy.

Bernard Eaton Keith

Braintree - Bernard Eaton Keith, 76, of Braintree died on Saturday, March 25th at Bon Secours - St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida after a brief illness. Born at Brockton he was a longtime Braintree resident. He was a graduate of the Hollis School in Braintree and the Quincy Trade School.
He was a master plumber and he owned the Keith Plumbing Company in Braintree. For 28 years he served as the Plumbing and Gas Inspector for the Town of Braintree. He retired from that position in 1988.
A WWII U.S. Army Veteran he served with the 48th Division Engineers. He served in Central Europe, Naples, Italy, the Rhineland, Rome, Italy and Southern France. He was wounded at Casino, Italy and received the Purple Heart. He also received the Distinguished Unit Citations and Badges and the European-African-Middle East Service Medal among others. He served from August 1943 to October 1945.
He attended the Heritage United Methodist Church in South Braintree. He enjoyed travelling and traveled to Europe five times. He spent 12 winters at Port Charlotte, Florida where he enjoyed swimming in Florida waters. He loved gardening and raising vegetables and giving them to others.
He was a member of the Delta Lodge of Masons in Braintree and the Braintree Chapter of Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife: Lois F. (Cheney) Keith; a son: Arthur E. Keith of Holbrook; a daughter: Joan E. Keith of Alexandria, Virginia; two granddaughters: Shannon Marie Keith and Christina Leigh Keith; and a sister: Majorie Mack of Holbrook who is married to the former Chief of the Holbrook Police, Francis Mack.
A funeral service will be held at the Heritage United Methodist Church 236 Grove St. South Braintree on Monday at 10:00 A.M. The Reverend Karen Bryant pastor of the Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Blue Hill Cemetery on West St. in Braintree. Visiting hours are at the Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington St. on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Lillian Grieve of Braintree, 93, homemaker, died March 29th. Lillian was born in Quincy, MA on April 29th, 1906 and lived in Dorchester before moving to Braintree in 1915. She was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Anna E. Hedlund. Mrs. Grieve was accomplished in many areas of arts and crafts. She particularly enjoyed oil painting, embroidery and gardening. Her late husband Thomas Grieve was a carpenter and Mrs. Grieve worked side by side with him while building their home in 1958. She loved her church and her extended family. She was the beloved Aunt of Trina Johnson. She is survived also by a sister Norma H. Johnson of Braintree, three grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a stepmother to Barbara Beck, sister to J. Albert, C. Frederic, and Doris Smith now all deceased. Donations may be made to the First Congregational Church Tower Fund.

William Coit Churchill, age 70 of Marshfield, died on Monday at the Beth Israel � Deaconess Medical Center, Palliative Care Center, Boston. Born in Middleboro he was a former resident of Braintree and Wareham. He worked at Braintree Electric Light (BELD) for over 40 years. The substation on Lakeside Drive, Braintree, was named in his honor. He was a member of NEPPA, MEAM, and APPA. He was past president of IATSE Local #437, and worked as a projectionist at many local theaters. He also worked at Edaville Railroad and designed the Christmas lighting and displays enjoyed for decades.
He was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree. He was a former chairman of the Trustees. He also designed the Maundy Thursday and Christmas service lighting which continues after 40 years. Bill volunteered over 1,000 hours of service to the Mass. Audubon Society in Marshfield. He maintained Wareham High School ties and was Alumni Chairman for the Class of 1948.
He enjoyed family camping throughout Eastern USA and Canada and holidays at �The Camp� in Effingham, N.H. Other travels throughout the U.S., United Kingdom, and Australia were special favorites of his. He was the ultimate home repairman, able to fix anything and willing to help others. Woodworking gave him the greatest pleasure.
Visiting hours will be Thursday 7 to 9 P.M. and Friday from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Mortimer N. Peck � Russell Peck Funeral Homes at 516 Washington St. in Braintree.

James Robert Gillis of North Quincy, Massachusetts, and long time resident of Braintree, MA, and of West Covina, CA. passed away Tuesday, May 29, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA, after a long battle with Tuberculosis and pneumonia. He was 72 years old. He is survived by his wife Edith Ann (Michel) Gillis who is at Mass. General Hospital, his three children, Michel Ann Meehan of Yarmouth, John Duncan Gillis of Tewksbury, MA, and Edith Ann Douglas of Hanover, MA, his five grandchildren, Bonnie Mae Gillis, Flora Belle Gillis, Sarah Catherine Douglas, Thomas James Douglas, and Michel William Douglas, and by six siblings, Dorothy Momaney, Terry Naser, George Gillis, Raymond Gillis, Francis Gillis, and David Gillis.
The Wake will be held at Peck Funeral Chapel, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, MA. Please have flowers delivered here. Visiting hours are Friday, 2:00 to 4:00PM and 7:00 to 9:00PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00PM on Friday.

Naples, ME - Richard V. Mulcahy, 82, formerly of Braintree, MA, husband of the late Audrey E. (Norgren) died January 13 at Eagle Pond Living Center on Cape Cod. He was born in Boston, son of William and Susanna Mulcahy. He attended school in Roxbury, Mass, graduated from Boston Latin High School and attended the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Mr. Mulcahy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1944 and spent 2 years in the Asiatic Pacific Area, where he saw combat action on Okinawa, Japan. He was a Corporal and a rifle sharpshooter. He was also activated in 1948 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1950 with the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Mulcahy was a retired District Manager from New England Telephone where he worked for 38 years. He served as a member of the Personnel Board in Braintree. He also was a member and former President of the Naples Historic Society of Naples Florida. Mr. Mulcahy is survived by a son, Richard Jr., of Plymouth MA, two daughters, Susan Carnathan of S. Yarmouth, MA and Carole A. Quinn of Kingwood, TX, 3 sisters, Evangeline Simpson of Concord, MA, Lee Mulcahy of Canton, MA and Elizabeth Farara of Canton, MA and a brother William Mulcahy of Canton, MA. George Fiander Pickering

Pickering of Waterford, Conn. formerly of Braintree, Holbrook, Scituate and Princeton, MA, Concord, Wakefield, California and Quonset Point, RI and Pelham, N.H. He was a retired Chief Storekeeper in the Navy and he died at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London. He was 78 years of age. Mr. Pickering was born in Boston. He graduated frome Hingham School in 1939. He was a member of the Combat Civil Engineers before joining the Navy in July 1941. He was captured at Wake Island in the South Pacific, and spent a grueling 44 months in a Japanse prisoner of war camps in Shanghai, China and northern Japan. Mr. Pickering also served in the Korean War. He retired from the Navy in May 1960 after 20 years of service. He was also a former member of the Fleet Reserve. Mr. Pickering was a hospital food administrator at Worcester Memorial Hospital and D'Youville Manor in Lowell. He was a Eucharistic minister at the Church of the Ascension in Wakefield, R.I. and a Mason. He leaves his son, George E., of Topsham, Maine; a daughter, Susan DuBay White of Waterford; a brother, Frank of Weymouth; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 A.M. tomorrow at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church opposite the Peck Funeral Home in Braintree. Burial will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, MA 02184.
