OBITUARY – Braintree on Marjorie Elizabeth (Knowles) Forte, 56, of South Braintree died at her home on Friday. She was born in Quincy and was a former reside of the Hough’s Neck section of Quincy. She was a graduate of the Quincy schools and was a graduate of Massosoit College in Brockton, Mass where she received a degree in nursing.
She was a nurse manager for the Braintree Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and for the former Elihu White Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by a son: Michael Forte of Braintree; four daughters: Amy Cogswell of Johnston, R.I., Laura Johnson of Sandwich, Sarah Forte of Braintree and Kathleen Forte-Slavin of Braintree. She is survived by three brothers: Bruce Knowles of Quincy, Buddy Knowles of Raynham and Brian Knowles of Mashpee; two sisters Kathryn Smith of Plymouth and Barbara Susko of Sandwich. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1017 Sea Street Hough’s Neck on Tuesday at a time to be announced. See www.peckservices.com and check the time or call 781-843-0890. Burial will follow at the Mount Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy.

Eleanor Marie (Bean) Avitabile of Braintree where she was a lifelong resident, on February 9, 2005, the beloved wife of the late Alexander Avitabile. Marshfield --- John E. T. Vaka, 90, of Marshfield formerly of Weymouth died at his home on Tuesday. He was born at Webster, Mass. and had been a longtime Weymouth resident for 60 years before moving to Marshfield three years ago. He was the retired owner of T. A. Faulds, Co., a food products company, which had the trade mark of Red E Made. The firm was located in Boston and manufactured prepared flour mixes which were sold to bakeries, hospitals and schools. He operated the business with his late brother, Chester Vaka. The firm has been sold to Concord Foods. He was a graduate of Webster High School and attended preparatory schools in Maryland and New Jersey. He subsequently attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. and Bates College in Maine. He was a W.W.II Army veteran. He was a very active member of the Weymouth United Methodist Church where he participated in many activities and was Past President of the United Methodist Church Men's Club. He made deliveries for the Pantry Shelf in Weymouth as well as the Crisis Center. He was involved in activities of the Interfaith Social Service Bureau in Quincy. He was the husband of the late Pauline Agnes (Brodeur) Vaka. He is survived by a son: John Roger Vaka of Marshfield. He was the father of the late Suzanne Doucette. He is survived by three grandchildren: Frank Doucette of Los Angeles, Dana Doucette of Denver, Colorado and Carol Ezell of Eagan, Minnesota. He is also survived by two great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Weymouth United Methodist Church 747 Broad St., Jackson Square, East Weymouth on Saturday, October 15th at 12:30 PM. A reception will follow at the Church. QUINCY - Rita A. (Schulties) MacDonald, 82, of Quincy, formerly of Braintree, a retired New England Telephone Co. employee, died Friday at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Mrs. MacDonald did computer work at the telephone company's Braintree office. She also worked for the telephone company in New York City, and she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a parishioner at the Church of St. Thomas More in Braintree where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality. Born in New York City she was educated in Long Island, N.Y., schools. She lived in Braintree for forty years before moving to Quincy seven years ago. She is survived by her beloved husband, Angus J. MacDonald. She also was the devoted mother of and is survived by Ret. Lt. Col. Angus Joseph MacDonald, USAF, of Woodbridge, VA, Stephen J. MacDonald of Gelena, Illinois, Richard B. MacDonald of Randolph, Patricia A. Burke of Marshfield, Mary E. Mand of Plymouth, and Clare L. MacDonald-Sexton of Eagan, MN. Sister of Irene Barry of Long Island, NY and Theresa Schulties of Manhattan, NY. Ralph Warren Davis Jr., 80, of Wollaston and South Wellfleet died Sunday at his home in Wollaston after a long illness. Born in Newton, Mr. Davis was a lifelong resident of Quincy.
He was a graduate of Quincy High School and attended Wentworth Institute of Boston. He was a World War II Army Veteran receiving the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the invasion of Normandy. He was also captured during the Battle of the Bulge and was held as a prisoner of war for six months in Lipsig, Germany, before being released.
He worked as an installation engineer for the former Pneumati Scale Corp. of Quincy for 41 years retiring in 1988. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time at his home in South Wellfleet, which he owned for 52 years. He was a member of the Pneumatic Scale Quarter Century Club, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Norma L. (Cheney) Davis; four sons, Mark Chent Davis of Hanson, Glenn A. Davis of Braintree, Richard E. Davis of Quincy and Mark B. Cherry of Wollaston; three daughters, Nonna L. Holmes of Wellfleet, Shelly Marie Davis of Quincy and Cheryl M. Little of Milton: a brother, Robert A. Davis of Naples, Fla., and Lois M. Johns of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; two grandsons and two granddaughters, three nieces and a nephew.
A funeral service will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church, 12 Quincy Ave., Quincy, at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Relatives and friends are invited. Kiawah Island, South Carolina - Lawrence Baker, 84, of Kiawah Island, died Friday in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mr. Baker was born in Falmouth, Mass., and was the son of the late Frank C Baker and Rachel Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lowe Baker, and his brother, Howard L Baker. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Phyllis Baker Hyndman of Aurora, CO, Janet M. Baker of Lino Lakes, MN, his brother Wesley D. Baker of Bingham, ME and his grandchildren, Rachel H. Hume of Naperville, IL, Douglas S. Hyndman of Durango, CO and eight nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. He retired as a Zone Marketing Manager for Quaker Oats Company after 32 years of services. He was a resident of Kiawah Island, South Carolina, for more than 22 years which includes a golf resort in scenic South Carolina. He had a passionate interest in the stock market and in business affairs and traveled extensively with his dear wife of fifty four years, Virginia Lowe Baker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Kiawah Island Natural Habitat Conservancy, 23 Beachwalker Drive, Kiawah Island, SC 29455.
Funeral Service will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck Funeral Chapels of Braintree and Weymouth, IN BRAINTREE, on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at 2:15 PM at the Marshfield Hills Cemetery in Marshfield, Mass.

Douglas and father-in-law of Pamela’s husband, Harry Douglas, both of Elberta, Alabama. He is the beloved father of Nancy E. Taylor of North Weymouth, and the beloved grandfather of Kimberly C. Taylor of Providence, R.I. The Reverend Robert Outman-Conant of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Holbrook, will be officiating at the Mortimer N. Peck and Russell F. Peck Funeral Home at 516 Washington St. in Braintree, MA 02184. The Memorial Service will be this Wednesday, April 12, at 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited. He was a salesman for the John Lutz Food Brokerage. He lived for twenty five years at the Bay Point Marina. He enjoyed boating and fishing and loved Martha's Vineyard. Mr. Tiews was a member of the Kiwanis Society.
